Lot Essay

According to the vendor he, along with a few friends, attended what was an unscheduled show by The Ramones which marked the end of their European Tour; to be called the Midnight Madness Show. He recalls having tickets for the circle, but as one of his friends knew a member of staff at the venue they sneaked into the standing area near the stage, on the right hand side, closest to where Dee Dee Ramone stood. Significantly Dee Dee's guitar seemed to be playing up that evening, and at one point he simply unclipped the white Fender Bass, walked to the front of the stage and gently tossed it into the crowd, causing instant mayhem. The vendor decided to try his luck and attempt to retrieve the guitar for himself. He remembers entering the melee shouting words such as 'Security,' amongst other things to help his cause. Strangely the crowd seemed to just part, leaving himself and one other guy holding the bass. For some unknown reason the other guy let go, allowing the current owner to turn around and walk back to his friends holding his prized acquisition. He has owned the Fender Precision Bass to this day, making only one change in replacing the original red pickguard which was broken with as close a version as possible. However the footprint of the old pickguard, in the form of a sealant/glue is still visible.
