Grinch Snack

Christmas is one of those seasons that is just full of traditions.  There are so many activities that we enjoy doing as a family and watching the old Christmas shows happens to be a favorite of mine.  I have lots of fond memories of watching these shows when I was little and I really enjoy watching them again now with my kids.  The Grinch Who Stole Christmas probably tops out my list so I thought that it would be fun to do a Grinch week around here.  I’m starting off today with a quick and healthy Grinch snack idea {because we all know a little healthy food is really needed around this time of year!}

Fun and healthy Grinch snack!Ingredients

  • pear
  • strawberry
  • whipping cream
  • banana marshmallows
  • mini marshmallow
  • edible ink black pen
  • toothpick
  • cupcake lines

Fun and healthy Grinch snack idea!

To Make

  • Place hulled strawberry on a toothpick and top with a mini marshmallow.
  • Cut the banana marshmallow into two eye shapes.  Use the edible marker to draw on an eyeball.  Attach with toothpicks cut down in size.
  • Draw on the rest of the face.
  • Place in a cupcake liner for the collar.

And that is all there is to it!  It’s kind of a fun way to make the healthy stuff a little more enjoyable for your kiddos!  Just make a few up, pop on the Grinch Who Stole Christmas, and enjoy a fun family night!

Fun and healthy Grinch snack!

So what is your favorite Christmas show?   Have you watched any yet?  We have most of them on video so we have already snuck in a few of them!  And I’m sure there will be many more viewings before the season is over. 🙂

Absolutely adorable! They are fun and healthy snacks … which is hard to come by during the holidays for sure!! My favorite holiday movie is Home Alone. The husband and I started a tradition of watching it on Christmas Eve.

Hi I’m thinking about making the grinch for a 5th grade class. Where did you get the banana marshmallows? Also are those regular cupcake liners? And how did you get the eyes to stay?

I got the banana marshmallows in the candy section at our dollar store but I have seen them before in grocery stores and Target in their candy sections. Yellow gum drops might work as well – just not sure how the pen would draw on them. The eyes were just attached with some toothpicks that I cut down. The cupcake liner that I used is a bit of a thicker one than typical liners – I purchased them in a pack at Michaels. We have also done them by slicing the pear and strawberry in half and lying them down on a plate so you don’t have to worry about them standing up. Hope that helps!
