I specifically bought this to use for the Coprophagia tablets we put in our cats food. I tried other pill crushers, like the blue topped one I've shown next to this cute little pink one, and they all seem to have the same issues.
The shape of other crushers are never exactly ergonomic, and for some pills that are tough to crush, those little ridges just dig into your hands when you're squeezing and turning. They are flimsy and cheap and I've actually had one or two crack on me before.
While this pill crusher seemed uneccessarily large at first, once placing it in my hand, I realized how comfortable it was. Then after using it, I realized the size is what enables the design to be so efficient. This pill crusher gets the job done so quick and easy and once you use it, you'll never use another.
It even comes with a small brush to ensure you get all medication from the pot.
Smaller crushers may require multiple twists, twice or even more, especially for harder pills, and the shallow pot ones for the powder may easily spill. All of this can be frustrating, but it can be especially difficult for those who suffer from carpal tunnel, arthritis, those who have disorders that cause tremors, or any other issues with dexterity, or the elderly in general.
With other crushers, I always found them to have the same issues. It would take a couple tries to get the top screwed on properly, because as soon as the triangular point hits the pill it would knock the top off balence. You would then have to press down with equal pressure on the whole surface of the top with your palm while simultaneously twisting to get the top threaded on tightly enough to stay so you could lift your hand to continue twisting. It shouldn't be that complicated.
Nothing complicated with this cusher! You put the pill in, put the top on, and it easily screws on right, the first time, everytime. Even with these Coprophagia tabs, which as you can see are about as large as a quarter.
Because this crusher is much taller than typical ones, it has a deeper dish for the triangular point that crushes the pill, which is what make it so effective. The depth also gives the user more control, so you're less likely to spill the contents.
All I have to so is close the top once, and the tablet is completely crushed. I've used other crushers, including the blue topped one, and similar ones, where I had to open and close it and shift the powder inside in between times to get the powder crushed enough. You don't get that with this one. While I most often use this for my pet meds, I have used it for other pills that were much harder, like my stepdaughters meds that need to be mixed with food, and I've had the same results each time. Simple and quick, with no aching wrists.
As I said I bought this cute little crusher simply for the animal theme, since it was for my animal meds, but after using it, I think its a great item in general. And as I said, being able to get the job done so quickly without pain or strain makes me strongly recommend it for the elderly.

CoaGu Pill Crusher
- Cute Bear Design, ABS material
- Crush large or small pills into powder, Easy to clean
- After purchased, when the unit arrived it smelled a bit of new plastic. You can rinse the unit with dishwashing detergent and water, and the smell went away.
- How it works ? Drop the pill into the storage, then you insert the pestle into the bottom section via the screw threads. Then you turn the ears of bear and screw it into the bottom part until it's tight. Unscrew the top and you have powder in the storage. Then you just shake out the powder wherever you need it. Screw it back together for storage.
- When you crush the pill, if you crush too tightly, the pill maybe need re-crush and then get stuck onto the pestle. You can flake off the stuck pill on the pestle back into the storage. Please be careful, then you won't lose some of it.
- You might need to re-crush it a second or third time to get it totally into fine powder. There is a good method. Crush the pill, loosen the thread a little bit (but don't unscrew it totally), shake it around so the pill powder moves around inside the storage. Turn the bear ears again and re-crush it. Do it two or three times in a row. It takes like less than 30 seconds. A tiny bit of pill powder will remain stuck to the inside of the storage. That will be very minor, first sure the pills must not be moist, & keep your bear pill grinder dry.

And I wasn't sure it Icould handle large, hard pills. It's actually a very pretty blue teal and easy to grip, lots of room, and the ears actually give that little bit extra torque if the pill is super hard. I had absolutely no problems. Super fast and easy to crush into a powder, works amazingly well. And it's so cute! I'm in love with it.
