I was not sent the cd pictured on Amazon. Instead, I received two cds - DHOOM and DHOOM 2.
DHOOM 2: I'm hooked on this album. The music is very upbeat and is great dance music. Many of the cuts are a fusion of salsa, hip-hop, flamenco and Bollywood. I love it when the lyrics roll from Hindi to Spanish and then to English. And the English is often corrupted: ie. "Touch Me" should be titled "Don't Touch Me", because that's what is being sung. "My Name is Ali" sounds like someone who just attended an ESL class.
It is even great when doing housework - incredible how the cleaning routines are sped-up and completed before the first disc ends. The vacuum cleaner or sponge mop become a dance partner. There is no sitting still. Great while doing aerobic exercises. Just a lot of non-stop movement.
A couple of the singers are on the "Slumdog Millionaire" soundtrack album.
DHOOM: The sound, the beat are addictive beginning with the first track "Dhoom Machale". "Dhoom Dhoom" is the same song but with English lyrics. Interestingly, it is pronounced in English as Zoom, Zoom. (Maybe the "Z" sound does not exist in Hindi.) "Dilbara" sounds like a Disney tune. I got to sing the lyrics rikiti-dikiti-rik right, but my Indian friend told me they don't mean anything other than rikiti- dikiti-rik.
ONE NEGATIVE POINT - Unfortunately "Shikdum (The Bedroom Mix)" contains some English expletives (mispronounced) and lewd rap. I burned a cd and edited this track out.
