Editorial Reviews

Out of print in the U.S.! This impressive debut finds it's one of a kind sound fully realised. Some songs influenced by bands such as the Cars and 'Contrary Mary' with a guitar riff that sounds like the main lick from 'Day Tripper' turned inside out. Other standout tracks include the cowbell-driven hormonal anthem 'Love at First Sight' and 'The Kid' an anti-brat revenge fantasy reminiscent of 'Beat on the Brat' by the Ramones. 'Yeah, Yeah, Yeah' became the band's most popular concert song, always with a unique ad-lib performance by lead vocalist Steve Whiteman. With this album, the tongue-in-cheek rock and roll style of Kix was established.

The first cd from kix and it’s great. Every song is good. This one is my personal favorite. A tad heavier than later releases. This is more in your face rock. After starting out in the early 80’s they have finally retired in 2023.

Would have given the 5 star rating, but I guess my tastes have changed over the years (Sure I have blue arms so, what?) but it was fun and still sounds fun. Just in small doses. Still, holds it's own over the years. Before "Hair Metal" had a negative connotation. The mix is good and the CD carries the sound well (as opposed to some vinyl conversion that never really sound right).

Regretted they were East Coast and never really had a presence on the West. Found our about this band the best way, by word of mouth from a friend.

Still a good addition to my CD collection and better than most produced music today. Every song is easy to hear and not one can be called a poor/bad song. Again that is rare even for 1981.

After Kix left the DC/Baltimore scene I lost touch with their music. Once they weren’t playing the Bayou or Hammerjacks or other places nearby, almost every weekend I moved on. These first two early Kix albums will always be my favorites. Mostly because I was there. High energy fun. Well played.

Back in or around 1981 I was a junior in high School & we were all searching for new hard rock bands!!! We had discovered Krokus, Saxon, The Scorpions, AC/DC & Judas priest But all of a sudden one of my friends played this band that sounded like a fusion between Punk & Hard rock... the song he played was "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" by Kix & as you can imagine at that age we were roaring with laughter & really enjoyed the guitar licks in this catchy song. We had no idea that this band would have the longevity it did nor the quality of Rock they would eventually be pumping out.

Kix is an early hair metal band. In this album the music is similar to Rush or Sweat both of which are fantastic bands. This one is a keeper being that it is good straight through till the end. I love metal and I would recommend this to all early 1980's metal fans everywhere. Kix is a Great choice of rock music, they really rock a whole bunch. Also I highly recommend this album to hard rock fans as well

this great CD has 9 songs and is about 36 minutes long. It may be short but it is still
