The 3M Organic Vapor/Acid Gas Cartridge/Filter 60928 P100 is NIOSH approved to provide protection against certain organic vapors, acid gases and particulates in a variety of environments. While NIOSH does not have a test procedure to certify air purifying filters against radioiodine or methyl bromide, this combination cartridge/filter is recommended by 3M for use against radioiodine or methyl bromide at ambient concentrations up to 5 ppm for up to one 8-hour work shift. This cartridge/filter is not for use in environments that are immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH).

This organic vapor/acid gas cartridge/filter combination works with 3M Half and Full Facepieces 6000, 7000 and FF-400 Series with bayonet attachment holders. The cartridge/filter is NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) approved for environments containing certain organic vapors, acid gases, and non-oil and oil particulates. 3M recommends it for use against radioiodine or methyl bromide. The cartridge/filter has been assigned the color code “Magenta/ Yellow” in the NIOSH system.

Breathing organic vapors, acid gases, and particulates can pose a risk to your health. NIOSH, a Federal government regulatory agency, has tested and approved the 3M™ Multi Gas Vapor Cartridge 60926 to help reduce exposure to certain organic vapors, acid gases, and particulates. 3M recommends this cartridge filter for use against radioiodine or methyl bromide, two substances for which NIOSH does not have a standard.

What is the NIOSH Certified Equipment List (CEL)?

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), under authorization of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, provides a testing, approval, and certification program assuring respirators used in the workplace meet the standards of 42 CFR Part 84. Since 1994, NIOSH has maintained a searchable, online version of the Certified Equipment List.

The certified equipment list is a tool to help respirator users, safety managers, industrial hygienists, and others to:

• Determine if the respirator they are currently using or considering using is NIOSH-certified,

• Select the appropriate respirator to protect against the hazard(s) they are exposed to,

• Locate the correct replacement component parts for respirators with chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear protections, and

• Learn what respirators are designed to provide protection from chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear agents, and what manufacturers produce units meeting the NIOSH standards.

The Certified Equipment List is regularly updated as respirators are approved, made obsolete, or the status changes in any way.

      This product worked exceptional. I purchased them for painting a full size ford pickup. I had used a MSA respirator and cartridge when I sprayed primer on the vehicle and I could smell fumes and ended up with primer in my tissue after blowing my nose. The 3M cartridges above, along with the half mask I purchased, worked great. I did not smell any odor during the entire paint project (which was in my garage and not well ventilated) nor did I smell the lacquer thinner fumes while cleaning my spray equipment. Lastly, it also passed the booger test (gross, I know, I apologize), no signs of paint coloring in tissue paper after blowing my nose.
