Dangerously unsafe! Difficult for one person to set up - Frame does NOT LOCK!!!!
1 out of 5 stars
Dangerously unsafe! Difficult for one person to set up - Frame does NOT LOCK!!!!
(Returning the bed) *** Unsafe for seniors or people with disabilities *** BED FRAME REQUIRES THE WEIGHT OF THE PEOPLE USING IT TO KEEP IT FROM TRYING TO COLLAPSE!!!! IT DOES NOT LOCK IN PLACE. IF you have to push off the frame to get on to your feet again, this is not the bed for you. 1) It could collapse, 2) It could tip. 3) If you sleep alone, one side of the bed would not be stable. VERY POOR DESIGN! WARNINGS 1. Advertising does NOT match the box or the assembly. It's supposed to be able to be assembled by one person (see warning on inner box for ONE person lifting, not two). Not too realistic. Even the inner box says to use two people to lift it. (see the other warning saying "two people.") 2. If you have difficulty lifting anything - do NOT try to lift straight up on this bed. This could be you if you ever had abdominal muscles ever cut from surgery. IF YOU STILL INSIST ON BUYING THIS - Here are some other pointers: 1. Use a tarp under it. The soft plastic feet over time could tear holes in your tent floor or indoor carpet or trash your floors. Queen bed is 5 x 6.5'. A tarp is 5 x 7'. Be sure to fold under the extra 6" so you don't get a toe caught in the middle of the night. 2. Rather than trying to lift this out of the box straight up - nearly 50 pounds - tip the box upright and let gravity due the work to pull it out of the box. You can "waddle-walk"the smaller box out of the big box one corner at a time. Get the extra parcel paper out of the way. That way it isn't catching on the inner box. 3. When opening the inner box, go slow and DO NOT use a box cutter! You could slide the carrying duffel bag. 4. When unfolding the frame, place the middle "bar" so it is running horizontal across your bed space - not vertical. So you will be standing at the side of your bed when you are trying to pull up on the frame, then tipping it from one side of the bed to the other. (not like "pulling down sheets." ) Think left to right, or right to left. COMMENTS: PRO'S The duffel bag is strong and the double-headed zipper is strong. SHELVES - PRO's and TIPS: The bags for the shelves are nice black nylon. These are wrapped in foam sheets. I would suggest saving and using these as the screws on the bottom of the shelves are a bit rough and could snag the shelf bags. You might want to rubber band or tie these together so one doesn't go astray on your trip or when re-packing the duffel. The shelves are nice and easily opened kind of scissor-style. When one side was more difficult to fully lock in place, I lifted up about a 1" back from the folding part and then was able to get it to clear the tab it needed to hook on to. These are steel frames and strong. Well made except my second one had extra material and whoever was sewing failed to trim it off. The glass / cup holder will easily hold a Coke bottle or something about 1/2" wider in diameter. The shelves are 12" square. They attach to the cot frame with a "u" shape hook that is attached. The black fishnet basket which holds a bottle or can, could easily snag. If you are using this as a guest bed and have a curious cat, or a bird, we aware that claws could get stuck. When putting the shelf away, turn the fishnet inside out so it does not get caught, then fold-in to put in to the bag; re-wrap in the foam sheets. The shelves easily went back in the bag. Be sure to check both shelves when you get this, even if only using one. A You Tube video said there was extra space to store keys and miscellaneous items. I sure did not see this. CONS 1. Duffel bag is an ugly army green. Coleman apparently did not market test for a color that would appeal to men AND women. Navy blue would have been a more gender neutral color. 2. Feet can damage tent floor, carpet, or wood flooring. Use something under the feet. AIR MATTRESS Not reviewed. Since the frame is so poorly constructed, I did not open this air mattress. This air mattress is designed to fit inside the attached cover sleeve. Be sure to put the valve toward the double-headed zipper opening so you can fill it, or re-fill it. There are holes at the top of the attached cover so that you can pull the air mattress into the corners. People on You Tube commented the cover is noisy to sleep on so be sure to cover it with a mattress pad, or a memory foam topper. The cover should also help keep pet nails from popping the mattress. That cover is not removable. Spot clean only. Be cautious about over-filling the air mattress. Other Coleman air mattresses with built in pumps have lasted me about seven months with daily use. When they start to wear out, the seams blow internally, creating a bubble wave.

I camp... alot. Now that I'm retired I camp 3 or 4 months a year when the weather is tolerable. I have slept on an air mattress mostly, but they can be hard getting up and down. I also have a nice cot that I sometimes use, pretty comfy but very loud.
I just took a chance on this after a few uncomfortable nights and I am so glad I did.
It is just the exact size of a twin bed, so all my linens fit much better. By raising the bed, I could now store some items underneath, which is a big bonus in a tent. It was fast and easy to set up, every single thing is included, even a pump which uses 4 D batteries (not included).
To set it up you just unfold the metal frame, inflate the mattress, insert it into the zippered pocket on the frame and you're done. Once the mattress is zipped in it is as stable as any bed in your house.
One thing I hadn't appreciated was the effect of the air mattress with the cot. Since cots somewhat mold to your body adding an air mattress causes it to do the same. It sort of gently hugs around you like the seat of a sports car. Very nice for sleeping.
I also like that if your air mattress goes flat, you are still super comfy in a big cot. The air mattress is easily replaced and you are back to golden.
Negatives... this thing weighs as much as my tent ! It's heavy, bulky, awkward , and I don't even care. Worth it. Also, I wish it locked into place when folded out. If you move it around you have to be cautious with the legs. I saw a lot of complaints about how loud it was, but Coleman must have addressed this because mine was nearly silent.
I can't imagine you would regret this purchase

I’m going to give you the good and honest truth... are you ready? Ok.
This bed gets the job done. If you need a place to sleep, other than on a cold hard floor or some damp underbrush... then this is for you. Things this bed will not do:
    1. Cure your lumbar stenosis and chronic back pain
    2. Grow your hairline back to youthful times
    3. Be a talking piece for visitors in your living room
Let’s have realistic expectations. This is a cot... it’s not a Serta or a Tempurpedic. There is no memory foam in it. It doesn’t have gels and spring coils that adjust to your weight and body heat. This is an air bed on a cot. It sets up rather quickly and efficiently, everything about it makes sense. It’s a space saver, it travels well, stores well, it even looks attractive. I love that the air bed fits neatly into a zippered sheet attached to the cot. I love being elevated off the ground a reasonable bit which makes getting in and out of the bed effortless, also lifts you up above from the goodnessknowswhats... I use this bed at work, because when I work the night shift I like to lay down and since my employer refuses to budge on giving me access to a sleep room I had to make it work. I actually like this bed better that the bed in the call room because at least I know where it has been and I can assure the sheets are clean and haven’t been washed in a chemical waste of toxic detergents. I sleep good at night.
I’m 5’11 and 138 pounds. My feet’s hang off the edge but I’m still comfortable. I could be upright in a chair bobbing my head back and forth. It’s been three nights and I’m leaving work every morning with a smile from ear to ear, staff says I’m glowing, little do they know ;)
The air pump, looks like a toy, but who am I to judge. It hasn’t failed me yet, when it does I’ll let y’all know. For now... I’m going to sleep.

I'm not a huge fan of air mattresses in general as they are not great for back support, but a week of camping at a medieval event, and I didn't want to just sleep on the floor, so I invested in this cot/mattress combo.

They were pretty easy to setup and not super complicated. The fabric of the mattresses and the mattress cover on the cot was nice and sturdy, and the cot itself was stable. I had bought two of these since we were sleeping 2 to a cot in one 16ft. tent. The one that I and my partner slept on kept deflating constantly even after the first night (I know that air humidity, stretching, and whatnot can cause it to need inflating after the first use). However, the other mattress seemed to hold up just fine for our other 2 camping partners for the entirety of the week.

My partner and I ended up just deflating our mattress and fortunately since we brought memory foam toppers, it wasn't too bad to sleep on just the cot itself, although the big metal beam in the middle of the cot is NOT conducive to active sleepers who roll around or for couples who want to be close or cuddle. I'll probably just end up getting a futon mattress to put on the cot in the future.

It was very nice that they came with a battery operated air pump/vacuum (you will need four D-cell batteries!). It also folded up fairly easy and back into the wheeled storage cases that they come with. I do suggest vacuuming the air out of the mattresses while you deflate them and fold them up to fit around inside of the cot once it's in the storage bag. It's a bit of a tetris challenge but it's not impossible.

Overall, I am really satisfied with this package. Here are my pros and cons:
    Pros:
    - easy to set up, you basically just unfold it.
    - pump included, it is generic but works
    - nice valve on the mattress, Coleman has these valves that close with a cap but also by popping the valve in which makes it easy to close while still pumping air in
    - the mattress cover keeps the mattress in place
    - you can store bins that are a foot tall under the cot to save space in a tent.
    - Sturdy
    - All fits into the case (you have to take the mattress out of the cover, but it all fits easy)

    Cons:
    - the mattress cover is sewn onto the cot fabric itself. I think you could remove the whole thing to wash it but it might be nice to have the mattress cover detach for easy washing. Though, this might make the mattress move on the cot more... I really don't know.
    - It is heavy (read product specs). This makes it very sturdy but you aren't getting a lightweight cot

Also, I fit this (barely) into a 4 person tent that was 5 feet tall. There wasn't a lot of spare space, but the whole thing is about 2 feet tall assembled, so it would work well in taller tents to save space and store stuff underneath. Just protect your tent floor! Very happy with the product

We loved our new camping bed! Easy to set up, the pump with D batteries is too slow, we used a power blower to inflate quicker. The side tables are a great added extra.
