In Yamuna they bathe
rinsing fear and shame.
The waters rise to receive.
They dip in devotion -
bare body, spirit in spate.
Krishna hides their apparels;
plays to them his flute
in enchanting strains.
Mesmerized they follow
without clothes and pray:
'Return us lord, this day, our shame'
The sky, wind and water witness.
Gopikas cry in shame.
Krishna in essence would reveal.
He would return the mortal covers
after a play of immortal tease.
