Briar

Briar focuses on the negative connotations of disability. The foot painter consists of thousands of handwritten words and phrases often associated with the subject. 100 nails hammered into the work symbolise disdain with the soft wool enveloping their impact. The piece was based on the phrase ‘Even thorns have roses. Disability is a matter of perception.’ Constructed using yarn, pins and MDF and refined and edited using Apple Pencil, iPad Pro and photoshop.
