Ander, Sanner is a photographic duo consisting of Carl Ander (b. 1991) and Kalle Sanner (b.1978). After having previously worked independently for many years, on both commercial and artistic projects, the two photographers decided to join forces in 2022.
Today, the duo works with discerning clients in the fields of architecture, design, technology and fashion. When not preoccupied with commissioned work, the two photographers focus on personal work; making books, films and exhibiting both locally and internationally.
Having already worked with and for the two photographers, individually and together, for a number of years, Lundgren+Lindqvist was commissioned to design the visual identity and to design and develop the website for the duo.
The identity revolves around an unceremonious monogram, aiming to capture the attitude of the photographers, who have a capability of quickly befriending their subjects, forging long-lasting relationships. The design of the monogram also emulates the technical typography found on most cameras and photographic equipment.
In addition to the monogram, we designed a ’moodbar’; a half circle which can be applied either turned upwards or downwards, transforming the monogram into a happy face or sad face respectively. This can be seen as a tongue-in-cheek commentary on the portrait photographer’s struggle to get school children to smile in their portraits. However, it also serves a more practical purpose, with the frown-turned-upside-down being used by the photographers when sending invoice reminders for outstanding payments.
For the website, we designed a dynamic presentation of projects embracing the variety of formats employed by the photographers in their work. When scrolling through the project overview in the home section of the site, the dynamic menu is updated continuously to show project titles and to highlight what category a specific project belongs to.
The site is built around three main categories; A for Commissions, B for Personal work (redirecting to the photographer’s personal websites) and C for Presentation. Each category has its own subcategories, such as Still Life, Architecture, Editorial, Books and People for the category A. For the category C, Niclas Östlind, fil. Dr. In Photography at HDK-Valand, has written an essay, which is presented in Swedish, English and German.
In addition to the visual identity and the website, Lundgren+Lindqvist has also designed a range of brand collateral, including a large in scale flag/backdrop and a range of rubber stamps.
