The pizza lovers in your life will cheer when you go all out for pizza night with a fruit pizza that's a sweet match for a savory pie. Spread sweetened cream cheese over the sugar cookie crust and top with an assortment of fresh fruit for a dessert that's almost too pretty to eat. Make it for a weeknight treat or a birthday bash.

Tips for Making Dessert Fruit Pizza

Though the recipe is straight-forward, try these tips before rolling out a Dessert Fruit Pizza.

  • When choosing fruit toppings, fruits like bananas and apples may brown as they sit. Make sure to brush them with lemon juice to keep their color.
  • Cut small, thin, even pieces of fruit that will be easy to bite into and won't fall off when cutting for serving.
  • Pat the fruit dry before putting it on the pizza to avoid a soggy crust.
  • Avoid wet fruits like watermelon that have too much water and will make the dessert soggy.
  • Scatter the fruit randomly over the top, or arrange the fruit into attractive patterns like a colorful rainbow, flower, or face, using smaller fruits like blueberries to fill in any gaps.

Ingredients

  • 1 (16- to 18-oz.) roll refrigerated sugar cookie dough

  • 1 (8-oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened

  • ¼ cup amaretto*

  • 2 Tbsp. packed brown sugar

  • cup finely chopped almonds, toasted

  • 2 cup assorted fresh fruit, such as halved green and/or red grapes, sliced strawberries, sliced mango, raspberries, sliced peaches, sliced kiwifruit, and/or sliced or chopped melon

  • 2 Tbsp. honey (optional)

Directions

  1. Form and Bake the Crust

Preheat oven to 375°F. For crust, line a 12-inch pizza pan with foil. Pat cookie dough evenly onto foil-lined pan. Build up edges slightly. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until edges are light brown and center appears set. Cool in pan on wire rack.

  2. Place Crust on Platter

Invert cooled crust onto baking sheet; remove foil. Place serving platter over inverted crust; invert platter and crust together.

  3. Make Spread and Top with Fruit

In a medium bowl beat cream cheese, amaretto, and brown sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Stir in the almonds. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over top of the sugar cookie crust, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges uncovered. Top with assorted fresh fruit. If desired, drizzle with honey.

If desired, substitute 1/4 cup milk and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract for the amaretto.
