The Amadea, a yacht American officials say is worth at least $300 million, which was owned by sanctioned Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov, before it was seized in Fiji on May 5, 2022.

After the Amadea's arrival in San Diego, ABC 10News spoke with author and former CIA Officer Alex Finley, who has written extensively about Russian oligarchs and their penchant for lavish yachts.

The Amadea is a $325 million super yacht docked in the U.S. Pacific coast port of San Diego, seized by the U.S. government as the property of sanctioned Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov.

The yacht, which costs US taxpayers almost $750,000 a month to maintain and insure, is being held in custody in San Diego while the legal proceedings are ongoing. The government wants to sell it.
