Anatomy of the Back Muscles - MSN
Multifidus: Your multifidus muscles originate from your sacrum, iliac spine, lumbar vertebrae, and transverse processes of thoracic and cervical vertebrae.
The spine, or backbone, is made up of small bones (vertebrae) stacked -- along with discs -- one on top of another. A healthy spine, when viewed from the side, has gentle curves to it.
A person’s spine consists of 33 bones called vertebrae. These consist of 24 presacral vertebrae, five fused vertebrae in the sacrum, and four frequently fused vertebrae in the coccyx.
