The cap blocks at the top of the wall are showing the worst deterioration. These blocks are less than 15 years old and the builder assured me they’d last at least 100 years.

But now, more than a year and a half after he started using turn-of-the-century machinery to make 170 antique-style concrete blocks, the 35-foot-long by 3-foot-high wall is finally complete.
