MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis-Shelby County School Board is set to discuss the Head Start program and yet another deficiency, after a 4-year-old student walked out of an elementary school last month.
At age 4, I got to ride the “little bus” to my Head Start classroom and eventually went off to kindergarten with a deep love for learning and going to school. I had my first child as a teenager.
The Head Start program serves nearly 3,000 kids in the Miami Valley who are experiencing poverty. It provides high-quality early learning and child care to children from 6 weeks to age 5.
