For 77 years, the cross atop the steeple of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church stood over downtown Rochester and the countless parishioners to pass through the church's doors.

A fire destroyed Balsora Baptist Church in Bridgeport, Texas, on Friday -- but as the smoke cleared, firefighters discovered a cross still standing among the rubble.
