Your unusual chance to see a comet in the sky is here. C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS was discovered by astronomers in 2023 — and will appear to the naked eye over the next couple weeks.

Comet 144P/Kushida will hit perihelion when it is the closest to the sun on Jan. 25. It was the closest to the Earth last month and comes around about every 7.6 years.
The comet is currently at a magnitude of +8, making it too faint to see with the naked eye. You’ll need a telescope or a pair of binoculars to catch a glimpse.
