Vicuna and guanaco are protected wild species; llama and alpaca have been domesticated for thousands of years. Llamas and alpacas can successfully interbreed, according to the college.
Llamas are also domestic species from South America, and a member of the camel family. Alpacas, llamas, guanacos, and vicuñas are four species that are collectively known as lamoids.
They all spit when you annoy them. The biggest is the llama at around 100-250 kg, followed by the guanaco at 100-150 kg, the alpaca at 50-80 kg, and smallest of all is the vicuña at 35-65 kg.
Guanacos are a member of the Camelid family, along with camels, llamas, alpacas and vicunas. They are native to South America, where they are the largest wild mammal.
