Onlookers dodged flying chunks of pumpkin guts as a 1,500-pound pumpkin transformed into a hermit crab during an event Thursday, Oct. 31, at Rosa Park Circle in downtown Grand Rapids.

Guests can also adopt rescued hermit crabs and purchase accessories. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 5-12 years old and children under 4 will get in for free.
