The Jade Buddha drew throngs of more than 3.5 million during its 2009 tour of Vietnam and attracted an estimated 120,000 people last winter at stops in San Diego and Houston.

Co Lam Pagoda unveiled the Jade Buddha for Universal Peace — a nearly 9-foot-high Buddha carved entirely out of one block of jade, that will be at the temple through Aug. 29.

Measuring 90cm, the other Buddha is smaller, but is just as impressive with light glinting off its elegant jade body as it reclines languidly.

The Jade Buddha for Universal Peace will be on display here through next week. You can see the Buddha for yourself at Linh Son Temple, 16 Ruthven Ave. The temple is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
