From the American Rifleman archives is the story of the K98k, equipped with the low-power, long-eye-relief Zf 41 scope, it was the most numerous German sniper rifle of World War II.

Much of the material, which include vast amounts of K98 Mauser rifles, Luger and P38 pistols, MG34 machine guns and other equipment was stockpiled in formerly occupied lands, notably Czechoslovakia.
