Redmi, a Xiaomi spin-off phone brand, says it has made in-display fingerprint sensors that work with LCD screens. Previously, only OLED screens supported them.
Back in 2019, some companies in China figured out how to put a sensor under an LCD panel and it looks like Redmi is the first smartphone manufacturer that will introduce it in a device.
Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has demonstrated an LCD smartphone with an in-display fingerprint ... there’s no word on whether we’ll see a commercially available Redmi phone with this tech in 2020.
