The “Face with Medical Mask” emoji, which was present in the emoji library before the COVID-19 pandemic, previously had a less-than-enthused expression, as it was created to symbolize sickness.

According to Emojipedia, under Apple’s iOS 14.2 update, the emoji will instead have raised eyebrows and blushing cheeks, which are intended to portray the masked emoji as smiling.

Apple's new smiling mask emoji will soon be available to users. The emoji seems to be in good spirits, wearing a mask to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
