A man who wore a big bad wolf mask took an axe to a pregnant woman and her unborn child on Halloween night 1984. The body of Doreen Rae Hitchens and her fetus were dismembered.

On Halloween night, 1984, a big bad wolf appeared at the door of the San Jose, Calif., home of Charles and Doreen Erbert. Given the holiday, there didn’t seem to be anything ominous about that.
