Durood Sharif —Al Salat Ala Al Nabi – is an invocation we make to God to bestow His choicest favour and blessings on the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is a kind of prayer.

In Mumbai, the Raza Academy, a Sunni Barelvi organisation in Mumbai, said it organised 571 crore Durood Shareef prayers from across the world and offered it at the prophet's grave in Medina.
