Jul 30, 2022 · About a year ago, I released a player's guide for the Mystara setting, which we all know is the best official D&D setting ever created. It had over 30 new subclasses, dozens of new spells, and over a dozen new feats. It showcased the immersive Known World featuring the background of over 16 nations and a flying city-state of gnomes.

Mar 31, 2018 · Mystara (barely) made the transition to AD&D 2E, but only a few 2E products were produced before the setting was nixed. Boohoo! * Mystara is the third (or fourth) oldest published D&D setting, after Greyhawk and Blackmoor (and the Wilderlands of Judge's Guild). The map of (what later became) Mystara first appeared in the Expert Set "blue box".
Difference between Known World and Mystara
Nov 22, 2002 · The name "Mystara" started before the 2E conversion. IMHO, it started with the launch of the Hollow World setting (which was inside Mystara). They needed a term to call the whole place, and something like "Known World" probably wasn't trademarkable, while Mystara was. Also, the timeline started going forward well before the move to 2E AD&D.

Jan 11, 2021 · Mystara also has got pieces of steampunk, pirates & mutants (Savage Coast/Red Steel) and Jurasic Park&Hyrboria civilitations (Hollow World). If my memory doesn't fail Mystara has not canon lore about the crystal sphere, and even it may be "visited" by aliens out of the rest D&D universe. We know the revival of Dragonlance is welcome.

Mar 8, 2005 · In the same year, the 1983 World of Greyhawk boxed set listed suggested locations for a number of modules, but didn't list B2 (or B1, curiously, even though it listed a number of possible Greyhawk locations in its first couple of printings). So, as of 1983, regardless of the original intentions, the Keep was set pretty firmly in the Known World.

Feb 28, 2008 · Hm. I'd have to go with... Mystara. It always seemed more open to me, with less of a metaplot. That being said, there's a lot to Mystara that is a bit lame - some very campy stuff in it. I guess I just prefer D&D to AD&D, really, and Mystara has a slight edge. Truth be told, though, if I was going for a generic D&D world, I'd go with Krynn.

Aug 14, 2014 · In the Wrath of the Immortals boxed set (which was the "second edition" of the BECMI Immortals Rules) it is said that the Ambrevilles call their home world "Laterre". Laterre is located in a different dimension than Mystara, called the Dimension of Myth. Laterre is what Mystarans call "D&D Earth". Here's some maps of Old Averoigne:
