For the week that ended on September 27th, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Superman (2025) topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and UHD charts in its first week. The latest screen iteration of the classic DC Comics character opened in cinemas in July 2025 and promptly topped the box office, grossing over $125 million on its opening weekend en route to over $354 million domestically and over $615 million worldwide. This week, Superman had a super HD share of 73%, with 33% of units sold from the 4K UHD format, enough to make it the week's top 4K UHD title.
Debuting in second place on all three charts is Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's 28 Years Later. The belated horror sequel opened in June 2025 to positive reviews and while it opened behind How to Train Your Dragon (2025), it ended up grossing over $70 million domestically and over $151 million worldwide. This week, 28 Years Later sold 31% as many Blu-ray units as Superman, with its own strong HD share of 69% and 46% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Dropping to third place on the Blu-ray-only chart in its third week is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Jurassic World Rebirth. The seventh film in the Jurassic Park franchise opened in July 2025 to a mixed critical reception, but as ever, the dinosaurs are critic-proof when it comes to the box office, where the film has grossed over $339 million domestically and over $867 million globally. This week, Jurassic World Rebirth sold 22% as many Blu-ray units as Superman, with an HD share of 60% and 22% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Elsewhere on the charts, Universal's M3GAN 2.0 debuted at No. 4 on the Blu-ray-only chart, while Warner's The Last of Us: The Complete Second Season (2025) debuted at No. 5 and the studio's Corpse Bride, which was released on 4K UHD this week, came in at No. 7. Rounding out the top ten, Sony's 4K UHD upgrade for Night of the Living Dead (1990) landed that film at No. 8, while the Criterion Collection's Flow (2024) debuted at No. 9 and 20th Century Studios' The Sound of Music, another 4K UHD upgrade, came in at No. 10. Outside the top ten, Crunchyroll's anime Blu-ray of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End: Part 2 (2023-2024) debuted at No. 12 and Warner's direct-to-video animation Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires debuted at No. 13.

@Poya No, they chose a good DC movie over a moderately enjoyable but not particularly rewatchable zombie movie. This should surprise absolutely no one.
@TV2693: How much of a "surprise" were you expecting from a Superman movie? All of America, if not the whole world, knows the basics of Superman's origin story, which is probably why Gunn skipped most of it, using just enough of it to put his own spin on why Jor-El & Lara sent Kal-El to Earth, or rather what Luthor wanted everyone to THINK was the reason why (hints of present-day AI & social media disinformation, or did THAT hit too close to home to you like it did some of a certain political persuasion?)
Sigh.... For those who did not like or care for Superman.... Good for you. Don't buy it. Have a nice day.
For those who have not seen the movie, but keep hating on it, Good for you, you are part of an elite group of people who love to hate on movies because that's what all the cool kids do now. Have a nice day.
For those who HAVE seen the movie, but keep hating on it, Good on you for at least seeing before crapping on it.
God.... I can't wait for the day when it's cool to like movies again.
Superman was especially bad because it was written so terribly, where each character has the same smarmy voice. And it ends with a dud. Pretty hard to get through, imo.
I got around to watching Megan 2.0. To my surprise, it was MUCH better than the first and more interesting too. The actors have improved, and it look like the budget was as well. It almost went into Terminator territory, but it was still in it's almost unique world.
Who on earth is buying the biggest super hero crap?! Go buy man of steel, superman returns and the first two with Cristopher Reeves, for God’s sake people!
The people who love this superman movie also seem to think its high quality writing that Lex can yell out fighting combo moves to multiple people whos systems can only handle 2 or 3 combos, enter it all in, and still be faster than superman using his brain and super speed. Seriously now. If Snyder had written that you wouldnt be defending it and calling people snowflakes for finding the writing horrendous.
