Introduction | Born (1956) in Hamilton, Ontario, attended McMaster University, touched down in Toronto for a few years, and landed in Montréal/Tiohtiá:ke where I've been living since. Home is in Pointe Saint Charles, a neighbhourhood with a post-industrial history that often serves as a setting in my fiction. Another home is a little yellow house on the Gaspé peninsula in northeast Québec. I have published four books of literary fiction: a collection of short stories, Ruins & Relics, and three novels, Arrhythmia, Five Roses, and Colours in Her Hands, as well as short fiction in magazines in Canada, the US and the UK. Ruins & Relics was shortlisted for the 2009 Quebec Writers' Federation First Book Award. Five Roses was a finalist in the 2017 Ontario Library Association Evergreen Award, and was translated into French as Le Rosier de la Pointe. Short stories published in magazines have won prizes, including the 2013 Manitoba Magazine Award for Fiction. |
