"Dead men do tell tales in The Widow and the Wolf, and so do dead women as Nancy, widowed and in mourning for seven years finds out. And sometimes wolves do, too. When Nancy, widowed seven years and still in mourning, returns from the American South to her husband's estate in England, she is warned about the local rake in a nearby manor. But circumstances throw them together when their sons become good friends. Can a wolf change its coat? Can Nancy shed her mourning and return to society? "

"In The Wittier Sister, readers are reunited with Starhope sisters the happily married Melanie, and Blanche, who is faced with a visit to her parents' friends estate in the north. Although Blanche begs her parents to be released from the certain boredom the trip will elicit, they finally agree that their daughter may visit Cousin Nancy in Oxford provided Blanche takes her dull maid Velma as a chaperone.

But when the girls arrive in Oxford, Cousin Nancy has gone to comfort her recently widowed friend, Lady Yardley, and the girls are left to their own devices with Cousin Nancy's housekeeper.

Rather than stay put, Blanche devises a ruse where she and her maid Velma will switch clothing and explore the city of Oxford for a few days in reversed roles.

On their first foray into town, Blanche meets Sandiford, an intriguing gentleman who guides her through a local museum. While resting her sore feet, Velma meets Sir Robin, a dashing author of romance novels. On the carriage ride back to Cousin Nancy's home, Blanche and Velma make plans to continue in their new roles to explore more opportunities in Oxford while Cousin Nancy is engaged elsewhere.

But they soon find that Blanche is not the only one with a hidden identity. It appears that not everyone is who they profess to be. No one can trust that the person they are acquainted with is truly who they say they are. Not adults, not new acquaintances, no one!

Who will be an aristocrat? A friend? A heir or heiress? Ties are knotted, hearts are broken, bonds are renewed or are they broken?

Will true love be discovered or dashed to bits? Read The Wittier Sister and find out for yourself! It's amazing what will or will not work out!"

Charming, Cinderella-esque Victorian romance that kept me rooting for the HEA. As an added bonus, the heroine has a little sister to protect from the wicked stepmother. I liked hearing about the hero's chocolate empire, which--as an earl's younger son--he managed for his family. A Waltz Before Midnight is well worth the effort...with a hint (The Lost Slipper Society) of a series to come.
