Tir Nan Og is the Land of the Young, deep in Celtic myth and legend. After years of wandering, Slaine united the tribes of the Earth Goddess and became the first High King of Ireland. After defending the Goddess in other eras, he has since returned to his own time and kingdom. Now, as the Fomorians besiege the city of Tara, Slaine comes back from the Otherworld to help.

Pat Mills, born in 1949 and nicknamed 'the godfather of British comics', is a comics writer and editor who, along with John Wagner, revitalised British boys comics in the 1970s, and has remained a leading light in British comics ever since.
His comics are notable for their violence and anti-authoritarianism. He is best known for creating 2000 AD and playing a major part in the development of Judge Dredd.
This volume is combining the end of the fomorian invasion arc and a stand alone story of mystery in a wandering carnival. The fomorian arc is ok with what you would expect as the endgame from a fight and liberation script. The carnival story is fun with memorable characters albeit a bit confusing at points.
Not too sure what was going on with the stand-alone story that was in this one. But it was good to see Kai all grown up. But before that was the conclusion to Invasions storyline. Quite a long story but it held up quite well right though the end. Better offering from Mills, really quality offering from Langley.
Book 3 is quite an improvement on the first 2. The epilogue "Carnival" was a welcome change to the usual. I'm tempted to give this 4 stars, but I still loathe the digital artwork. Clint Langley is capable of much better work than he has shown here.
When Slaine returns from his communion with the Earth Goddess in the otherworld, he's endowed with the Earth Goddess' power that he's no match for the Fomorians. The sea demons are driven away from Tara, suffering a lot of causalities. Odacon escapes and together with Sethor they guile a village into accepting to become carriers for Odacon's demonspawn. Slaine and crew only learn about this through Fais, and thus go around villages hunting down these demonspawn. They make it to the right village and burn it to the ground before the demonspawn spawn hatch, Odacon again flees but Slaine won't let him get to sea this time again. In short Slaine kills Odacon, Gael is crowned High King of Ireland. and slaine has to leave to wander again in search of Kai, his son.
in Albion: The CARNIVAL OF THE NIGHT, the greatest most astounding collections of marvels and monstrosities ever gathered together. Incidentally, one of these marvels is KAI MAC SLAINE, Slaine's son, managed by the dwarf, Ukko. Working at the Carnival, Kai falls in love with Estella, the sleepless beauty, which causes quite a wrinkle when Slaine meets with them at the camp and wants Kai to go back to college and finish his studies. Another wrinkle arrives in the form of the murder of a Shoggy beast called Wardo, Wardo was killed by suffocating him with Dragon's breath, which happens to be the same symptom of Estella's Nighttmares, someone tried to kill her using Dragons breath when she was younger. Kai believes the perp is still in the carny, and that the two situations are somehow connected.
Slaine's stories are great in many aspects. Of course, one has to like the barbarian comic genre to like it: There are loads of hack and slash and blood and foul language and naked bodies, violence, magical beasts and moral dualism, but still, it's a must-have for every one who likes medieval fanstasy and the whole barbarian whatnot. In the closing of the Book of Invasions series, the story complete turns over and is beatifully finished. Highly reccomended.
