Fangs for the Memories

Rate this book
No one will ever forget this prom!
There is no rest for a wicked witch and as a result I’m in one hot cauldron of a mess. The Prom Queen was murdered on my watch, and Alessandro, the most notorious vampire in all the realms, will expose my darkest secret if I don’t catch the murderer within seven days. He loves deadlines. I don’t. Meanwhile, some idiot stole a powerful artifact from a casket at Fangsters, my academy for delinquent teenage vampires. I’m told this could lead to a supernatural Armageddon. I have few clues for either mystery, the odds are against me, and I’m running out of time.
When the students asked for permission to hold a Spring Prom, I couldn’t refuse them. I’m the administrator of the school and together we had survived hell in our renovated bordello filled with secrets, scandals, and murder. Having something ordinary like a fancy dance to look forward to, sounded like a great idea. I imagined all of us dressed in glamorous dresses and sexy tuxedoes dancing the night away with a few gaudy black decorations pinned to the walls. Maybe some of the vampires would come in feathers or masks, but I didn’t care. It would be a grand celebration. No one likes to party more than vampires. But when I agreed to their plan, I didn’t realize it would involve another murder.
To make matters worse, a sacred vampire artifact, was stolen. Living with the undead is never dull.
Luckily—or maybe unluckily—I have backup. There’s my nemesis, Onyx, who runs security and makes no secret of the fact he wants to get rid of me. There’s my new love interest Leroy, a werewolf enforcer who wants to keep me under his paw. And last, but never least, there’s my family. My sisters are powerful witches who love to give advice, and my brothers-in-law are supernatural cops.
What’s a witch to do? Will I catch the murderer and keep my skeleton in the broom closet? Will I find the artifact and prevent a supernatural catastrophe? And will my man-trouble ever end?
My name is Rebel Black. I’m the book-nerd sorceress dragged into the bloody world of the living dead, because of a dirty little secret.
A humorous urban fantasy with bite, Fangs for the Memories, is the third book in the Fangsters six-book series, set in the Mystic Keep World. It’s a fast-paced vampire mystery, with a slow burn romance. Filled with witches, warlocks, werewolves, and vampires the drama never lets up. While it can be read as a standalone, it’s best read after the first two books, Fangsters, a novel, and Fangs for the Bite.

Back with Rebel and her gang for another cosy mystery and slow burn romance which is so delightful! These characters are very well written and each book brings about more questions, what is Rebels secret that Alessandro holds over her? Such a fun read. I received an advance review copy for free from booksirens.com, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Having read many of her books, this is by far my favorite of all of her series. I truly hope there are many more, rather than having a limited series, like she does with many of her books.

Rebel Black is the administrator at a vampire high school for wayward teens, having been blackmailed into the job. Now they want to have prom, and of course, what could possibly go wrong? Seriously, though, you have prom with vampires, warlocks, and humans, and then are surprised when someone gets murdered? 🙄

I had absolutely no idea who the murderer was. None at all. Those are the best cozy mysteries, though.

I got a free advanced copy of this book through booksirens.com, which in no way affected my review. I already have the next book written on my calendar so I don't forget about it!

Rebel Black is back and sassier than ever!

I really do enjoy these books, I always devour them within a couple of days because they are just so interesting and easy to read. The short chapters make it quick and snappy and always leaves you wanting to know WHAT happens next.

Rebel has only been administrator at Fangsters for 6 months and she’s already got her 3rd murder on her hands (what do you expect when you’re living with the undead, darlin’ - As Harvey would say!). This time it’s a student and things get pretty chaotic pretty fast.

I do think this instalment was a bit too fast paced for me to get my head around things, don’t get me wrong I really enjoyed it but did feel like I was missing things every now and then and just wish theyd have been a bit more of an explanation (love interest scenarios precisely). It’s the only reason it dropped a star for me because I personally felt like just as I was getting into the scene/feeling what Rebel was feeling, the chapter would end and the scene would jump.

Despite this, absolutely brilliant instalment in the series and personally can not wait to follow Rebel in her next adventure (should I call them that?🤣)

Thank you to Jo-Ann for letting me have early access to this book, all thoughts and feelings are my own and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

Fangs for the Memories is book 3 in Jo-Ann Carson’s Fangsters series about a boarding school for delinquent vampires, and was a great entry in the series.

The author does a decent job of introducing previous characters so that a reader could read this as a standalone novel, but there is a bit of an overarching story so I would recommend beginning with book one.

After a powerful ring is stolen from one of the Fangsters students, it’s not only Fangsters that is at stake if the ring isn’t recovered. Once again Rebel has a limited window of time in which to solve a murder and the mystery surrounding it..

I really enjoyed this entry in the Fangsters series. Rebel appears to be growing up a bit. She may be letting go of some of her resentment toward her former boyfriend, and she finally appears to have made a choice regarding her love life.

I found Fangs for the Memories to be an exciting read, and it has me hoping for more. I’m especially anxious to find out Rebel’s big secret.

Rcvd an advanced reader copy from booksirens for giving my two cents . We met headmistress Rebel in previous books. This one Rebel ends up in more complicated situations. Rebel is fighting her feelings for the dhampir Onyx and thr hunky werewolf Leory. On top of that, her norm janitor was caught stealing and not just some random items. The plot thickens when Rebel learns the students want a Prom...whatever could go wrong? Death, secrets and the unbelievable make this a good story.

Vampire prom what could possibly go wrong? If you’re Rebel Black Headmistress of Fangsters school that’s a dangerous question to ponder. The students set out to celebrate being accepted and being successful and really who needs a reason and thus prom. When things take a dark turn and there’s a murder that night Rebel is on a deadline to find the culprit and save herself. Tick tock.
I love this series. It’s a wonderful blend of cozy, paranormal, fantasy, humor and a bit of the absurd that’s just absolutely delightful! Rebel is sweet and thoughtful and probably the last person who should be in charge of a bunch of delinquent err troubled young vampires but at the same time that makes her perfect for the job. I love the development between her and Oynx. And her family is just too much! Lighthearted even with the dark moments this book is just fun to read!

Rebel Black is back, just as confused about her feelings for LeRoy and for Onyx, still trying to get the young vampires to conform to the rules of the school, and still trying to deal with Alessandro, the vampire who forced her into the job of Principal at Fangsters, a school for delinquent young vampires.

Really good world building, with characters who are developing well, we get to know more about the hierarchy of the vampire ‘families’ in this book, and also more of their history. Add in a murder, a Vampire Prom and a thief and you have a really good read. I love the intricacies of Rebels family, the mix of talents, the rivalries and their loyalties. Another really entertaining read, I’m dying to see where the story goes next.

Fangs for the Memories is book 3 in the Fangsters Series hy Jo-Ann Carson. I think that this fantastic book has so much action and surprises. Beside a murder, there is a thief in the academy. Rebel has conflicted feelings for Leroy and Onyx. I really like how the author builds on each book. The characters that are core to the story are written perfectly and new characters flow seamlessly into the story. I really would like to know what Alessandra has that he is blackmailing Rebel with… must be juicy! This is a very entertaining book. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

This series is hilarious. Nothing like a wicked witch (Rebel) educating the vampire delinquents and murder comes along, as well as a prom, a threat from the fiercest vampire of all, crazy family along with supernatural cops. You never know what you're going to be reading from page to page. It's one of those books I couldn't put down because I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. I'm so sad I have to wait until November 2024 for the fourth book! I guess I'll just have to go back and read the first three again!

Every time I read a book in this series, I’m just so tickled. Rebel, Onyx, Harvey, and all the other characters are just so much fun. In this latest there is theft, murder, and of course mayhem. Poor Rebel just can’t seem to keep her vampires in line. While this book isn’t perfect, I just love the way the author brings the characters and the setting to life, and I enjoy every second I’m immersed in the series including this book. I hope that the series goes on for many more books. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Who knew school could be such fun

Rebel has come into her own but with a missing ring that might just give the wearer the ability to control all 9 realms she, and the security staff have their hands full. And with charismatic and handsome vampires, warlords and the odd sharpshooter around figuring out who's good, bad and just really good at being bad will keep you reading until.the end.

Rebel is back for another fun read. And this one kept me laughing among the murders and thefts. Had to see the chaos that Rebel must endure and see how she solves it all. I laughed and groaned my way through the story. Part mystery, part suspense, all round chaos kept the story light and easy to read and enjoy.

Another great addition to this series.
Rebel faces another possible catastrophe at her school for delinquent vampires when a human takes something that she shouldn't.
Given a deadline by Alessandro, Rebel must find the stolen item and stop a possible world event.
The tension between her and Onyx increases, and Rebel must make a choice between him and Leroy ... doesn't she?

This is the third in a series by this author. Although they are listed as standalone, you will want to read them in order to not be confused by references made.

I really liked the writing style. It is funny and a bit suspenseful at times. There is always a mystery to be solved and relationships to be figured out. I like that this is a cozy mystery, but written well enough it doesn’t seem boring. All relationships are discovered off the pages but talked about. I’ll definitely read more by this author.

Fangs are funny

I giggled all the way through this book. Rebel Black is so adorably clueless in the romance department. Trying to handle an academy of delinquent but darling new vampires, plus her blackmailing hot vampire "employer" plus a sexy frenemy dhampyre security chief and a werewolf bodyguard who just wants to guard her body a bit closer? With an invisible bunny familiar who is no help at all? Then there's the theft, the murder ( if you can murder an already dead vampire) and the prom from hell - this was a grin fest from page one. And this is my voluntary, independent, much amused ARC review.

Well things got really somber and some of the laugh out loud bits were missing but the story redeemed it's self in spades the last fifth of the book. The story writing was as top notch as always and this remains my favorite series by this author. We get a few more questions answered and the slow burn romance is picking right up. Looking forward to the next one for sure! I received this ARC from Booksirens and am happy to leave this review.

I don't ever think I've seen a blurb this long for a book in my entire life!! I was afraid it told the whole story, BUT not even close! This was fantastic fun. Surreal, funny and completely captivating! I think of the series so far this would be my favorite but don't tell the other books as I'm afraid they'll get an inferiority complex! Great book by an extremely talented author. I'm ready for more.

Fangs for the Memories is the 3rd book in the Fangsters series by Jo-Ann Carson and is such a good story! While it can be read as a standalone it's much better if you read the whole series in order. I can't wait for the next book!

A dance with death!

Being the administrator of any school is hard but when it's Fangsters, the school for delinquent vampires, the challenges are unimaginable. Her family and her security chief still want her to leave the school but her blackmailer won’t let her. Now, a powerful artifact that could threaten the nine realms and the students want a prom has been stolen. How much crazier can her life get?

This book has a nice balance between danger, romance, and mystery. It held my interest from beginning to end. Rebel’s invisible familiar with its sarcastic commentary adds a nice touch of humor. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

I am always impressed with Jo-Ann Carson's extraordinary creativity and writing. Saying that...

In this third installation of the Fangster Series, Rebel Black, a witch is the administrator of Fangsters, a school for delinquent teenage vampires. She must solve the murder of the prom queen at the academy's first prom. If she doesn't within seven days, Alessandro a powerful vampire will reveal Rebel's secret to the supernatural world. It must be some secret to keep her under his thumb for three books.

There are three rings made of human bones in the supernatural world that are spelled with dark magic. Used by powerful vampires, they possess unlimited supernatural power. One of the three rings that gives its owner unlimited charisma is stolen and is put up for sale on the dark web.

So we have multiple murders, a stolen ring of unlimited power, love-hate relationships to keep the story moving and exciting, and Rebel's familiar, Harvey, an invisible bunny who gives her advice. And much more.

My favorite character in the book is Onyx who is half human and half vampire. He runs Security and Rebel Black. He's cool, level-headed, astute, a great dresser, and is in love with Rebel. His apartment at the school has a connecting door to Rebel's on the top floor.

Yet another exciting fantasy book in the series.

Rebel Black finds herself, once again, trying to move forward the school for vampire teenagers that were going down the wrong path. Threatened, with her confusing emotions, with her heart fighting with her emotions and desires and scared by the consequences that more deaths under her watch may bring, Raben feels at the edge of her strength. The predicament this witch found herself in and the way she handled her feelings and emotions had me laughing all the time. Would she choose or would she keep both? How curious it made me feel because the werewolf had his thing and the thing was strong, but the vampire attracted and blinded her. With a horrible death to solve and the strange reactions of the teenagers, everything was confusing. I was very entertained by the mystery and I'm starting to have suspicions about Rebel's secret. This story is loaded with action and suspense. The intrigue, betrayal and deceit were present, and we now have a little more romance. I laughed a lot at the things that were going through Rebel's mind, and I loved Leroi's charm. Like Rebel, I'm intrigued. Eager for the next book. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I received from BookSirens.

Another Fangsters books, another murder to solve! Rebel and her posse are back to solve another mystery with one of the Fangsters’ students found dead after stealing an insanely powerful artifact. No pressure, just need to solve the murder in 7 days of Alessandro releases Rebel’s secret and whoever has the ring might try to take over the world…

I love the premise of these book, I really do, but there are some holes in the plot and leaps that just don’t track for me. Rebel has, allegedly, been thinking Onyx is a professional spy with an awesome network all through the series, yet this is the first book it’s mentioned. The timeline also doesn’t work with her having been saying the werewolf for a few months, yet it’s only 6 months since the school opened, but at the end of the last book before she started dating the wolf, we were at 5 months. It has so much potential to flesh out the characters a bit and fill these gaps. The idea is so fun and even with this, I’ve still enjoyed the series. They’re pretty quick reads.

I did receive an ARC of this book for free with no strings attached.

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ll start off this review by saying how much I enjoy this series overall. I like the cast of characters and he continued mystery on what hangs over our heroine’s head. Her interactions with her family, the vamps at the school, and her potential love interests are enjoyable.

What was an absolute miss for me in this book was the pacing. Some of the B story lines were wrapped up so quickly, it was jarring. I usually write my reviews soon after the book is read, but I had to sit on this one to process through it to gather my thoughts. The flow of things and one big reveal at the end felt like a sucker punch. Maybe I need to go back and read the first two. I felt like it was coming, but it came fast.

Will I read the next book(s) in this series? You betcha. It was still a fun read; it just didn’t rise to the level of what came before in my opinion. 😃

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is such a fun series. It is goofy, silly and so very much fun. Poor Rebel she is always having to bail out her delinquent vampire students from one mess after another. She has family members constantly trying to tell her what she will and will not do. She has a huge secret she is trying to keep from coming out that her ex-brother-in-law is using to black mail her to be the administrator for the school of delinquent vampires. It just keeps getting better and better. If you are looking for a fun series to read this summer pick this one up. It is a fun ride. I am sorry I finished this one so fast.

A really fun adventure!

Fangs for the Memories, is the third book in the six-book Fangsters series, set in the Mystic Keep World.
It’s a fast-paced vampire mystery, with a dash of romance. Filled with witches, wizards, werewolves and vampires, the drama never stops. In this 3rd adventure, we follow again Rebel Black, a lover of books, specifically those concerning the undead. It was a fun afternoon following Rebel and her friends!

Although it can be read on its own, it is best read after the first two books, which I really enjoyed!
