★★★★★! Autumn in London, book 2 of 3. Ethan & Anna’s affair continues with twist of a forbidden romance!

“I don’t get to speak?”
“Not yet.”
“Then when?”
“When I’ve fucked you so hard you’ve forgotten what you wanted to say.”

Novellas in The Empire State trilogy should be read in order:
Part 1: A Week in New York
Part 2: Autumn in London
Part 3: New Year in Manhattan

In A Week in New York, part 1 Anna Kirby, having traveled to New York to get over an ex, met handsome and sexy playboy Ethan Scott. After a steamy one night stand they agree on no-questions-asked sex for the remainder or her week-long stay in New York.

Autumn in London (part 2) picks up four months after the ending of part 1. Ethan is heading to London for three months to oversee a take-over. Another chance encounter has Ethan and Anna working at the same firm entering into the territory of forbidden romance.

The story goes on to follow them during Ethan’s stay in London with kinky borderline frantic sex and budding feelings set against the backdrop of a non-fraternization policy and Ethan’s looming departure back to New York.

“But that’s why we need rules. And number one has got to be no orgasms in the office.”

 photo tes1 H BS by sb_zpscl40ooxs.gif

Eight words to describe Ethan Scott: Charming, elusive, calculated, perceptive, reflective, commanding, non-committal and enigmatic.

“Give me a break, beautiful, my balls are already blue.” He groaned.”

photo tes1 he BS by sb_zps69ojidx6.gif

Eight words to describe Anna Kirby: Sweet, easy-going, wounded, romantic, reflective, naïve, insecure and adventurous.

“Yes. Just. Like. That,” she breathed.”

Autumn in London, told from dual POVs, was every bit the steamy tale and just the right blend of drama, steam, conflict, romance, surprises and humor. Story ends abruptly, leading right to part 3, New Year in Manhattan for the conclusion of their story.

Off-the-charts sex with risk of discovery! Entertaining plot! Excellent story-telling! Swoon-worthy Ethan Scott!

“If you’re fucking me, you’re not fucking anyone else.”
“Babe, I’ve never even mentioned a threesome.”

4 - No ambiguity. No promises. No bullshit. Stars!

Louise Bay has literally taken all the good plot points and character traits from some of my favorite romances and turned them into the Empire State Series.

There wasn’t much new or unusual about the story, (and this review is for all three instalments) but what I liked about Anna and Ethan, was that they were both established adults in their own rights. Anna was as confident as Ethan, and the drama and storyline was solely focused on them rather than secondary characters.

"I have rules…"

One lives in London the other New York, and what starts a one night with no strings whilst Anna is on vacation in the Big Apple, develops into one week of fun, but still with no strings. With Anna’s return to the UK they part amicably and go back to their lives.

But fate has other plans for this couple and the three novellas in this series chart the building of a relationship around a couple that are falling in love with each other, the best thing about it, I think as a reader you see that they are in love before they even realize it themselves.

"Sometimes I forget that I didn’t know you my whole life…"

This series is what I would call easy to read and stress-free, the author hit the pitch between the two of them perfectly, in that both are shy of commitment and as each new twist in the plot plays out one or the other of them steps further out of their comfort zone to embrace the relationship developing between them, it was a bit like a game of leap-frog at points with one of them always being a little bit further along than the other.

"You couldn’t be any more beautiful to me than you are now."

Low angst, high emotion and plenty of sexy times, this is an author who I am glad to have discovered. I may be a little late to the party, but let’s just say my one-click budget was totally blitzed this week in buying the rest of this authors books!

"I’m glad we found each other…"

This is book 2 in this series. After a week of hot sex, Anna Kirby and Ethan Scott part ways with some reluctance neither one expecting anything more until Ethan Scott arrives unexpectedly at Anna's law firm in London for a take over by his company. What starts off as an extension of their no-strings hot sex only agreement turns into something more than either of them ever expected. Great characters. and a wonderful, emotional addictive story line. Narrated by Saskia Maarleveld and Sebastian York.

Now it's time to plan...

I'm really loving this series and I was fortunate to start after they have all been released. There was a time when I hated reading books that end with a cliffhanger. In The Empire State Series, I get a little giddy knowing there's more to come. Who doesn't love to get a wee bit more at the end of a story?

I had a good chuckle when Anna loses the plot and thinks Ethan manipulated their first meeting. She's all huffy and puffy, ready to blow the office down. Ethan very calmly explains himself and the situation. LOVE IT! No unnecessary drama or douchewaffle overreactions. A mature and civilised discussion.

The pace is great, the sexy times are HOT and the characters become even more loveable with each instalment.

Onwards...

4 Stars!
Anna Kirby went to New York to escape heartbreak and have some fun. She wasn't meant to meet someone but she met Ethan. Now that she is back in London, she's trying to get over him since he is 3000 miles away.

Ethan Scott, Sexy Bachelor, who broke all his rules for Anna, can’t seem to go back to his former life. Before his week with Anna he only entertained women for sex…….no staying the night, no dating and with the few repeat ones, not more than once a month.

Now a business trip to London gives him the opportunity to possibly change up his rules. Once he is there Anna doesn’t seem to be very happy to see him. Maybe this was all a mistake.

I love all the references to the movie Pretty Woman, both in this book & the first one! I mean who doesn‘t love the movie Pretty Woman??!!

Again this one was a light, fun & cute read! I always love a playlist at the end of any book but it is even better when the author lets you know when, in the book, they think the song fits in.

“It is 4.5 No bullshit me stars”

I admit it; Ethan and Anna are among my favorite couples!

We see them in London, where Ethan flies to help with a merger, and he bumps into Anna.
Neither of them can take their hands of each other. They also are both stubborn enough.
Ethan is not asking Anna to change continent and Anna thinks Ethan is afraid of a relationship, since this is sth new for him.
This couple is smoking hot!!!

I am reading the conclusion right away!!!

I was straight into this to find out what happens next in Ethan and Anna's story.

At the start of the story both of them are living on different continents and regretting their decision to sever all times. Then Ethan has to move to London to oversee his company's merger with a UK firm. In a twist that only ever happens in romance novels, guess where Anna works?

The chemistry and the smut were mighty fine but if I'm honest, the plot was a bit thin. It's not that lots needs to be going on to hold my attention because I love good character-based stories, but this would have been better with a little tension or conflict to stir things up a bit. It didn't have either I'm afraid so it's all started to feel a little flat, in spite of all of that fabulous smut.

There is a third part, but this one ends in a good place.

Totally obsessed. Totally love them…

Η απόσταση που τους χωρίζει είναι πια ο μεγαλύτερος εχθρός τους και αγωνιώ να μάθω πώς θα την αντιμετωπίσουν στο New Year in Manhattan

ΥΓ. Είναι φανερό ότι η συγγραφέας απεχθάνεται τους αποχαιρετισμούς όσο και οι ήρωές της…

BOOK REVIEW: 4.5 STARS

I was waiting for this book anxiously! I loved A Week in New York and I couldn't wait to read what was going to happen in London when Anna and Ethan meet again. I was so pleased with the events, thought I didn't expect Anna’s reaction when she saw Ethan after trying, for months, to forget about him and that amazing week they spent together in New York.

I fell in love with Ethan while reading the first book and after reading the second book, I’m totally sure he’ll be a book boyfriend I will never forget. He is a man hard to find, even in books, because he is completely honest, he always tells the truth, his feelings and acts by following his heart. I love that he wanted to please Anna completely, always wanting to give her exactly what she wanted and sometimes more. I love how protective he is of her.

I pulled her closer to me. “So am I. You’re gonna have to be patient with me. I’ve told you, I don’t date so I’m not going to get this right all the time. But I don’t play games and I’m not going to start bullshitting you. If I’m with you, I’m with you and that’s where it begins and ends.”

I could learn more about Anna, she is still the lovely, caring, and funny girl she was in the previous book, with addition of her insecurities about relationships in general and her fears about the relationship with Ethan could mean to her life, but thanks to Ethan’s honesty, she could get passed those insecurities and fears and have the best Autumn of her life.

It was like he’d uncorked a bottle of something fizzy and everything just spilled out. “I’m scared this, us, is more than sex. I’m scared that I want this to be more than sex. I’m scared of you leaving and I’m scared of you staying. I’m scared of how I feel about this, you. It’s just complicated and this wasn’t supposed to be complicated. You could hurt me, Ethan. Already, you could really hurt me.”

What I liked and didn't like about this book was the little amount of angst/drama in the plot. I mean, it’s great that they could find the perfect state of mind and heart for their relationship, but I was expecting a little of drama.

Can't wait for the third book of the series, New Year in Manhattan. I’m sure Louise will give me a beautiful HEA!

Autumn in London is the second part to The Empire State series which continues Anna and Ethan’s story in London.

Anna and Ethan reuniting was cute, didn’t think it’d be the way it happened but it did and I enjoyed it I love their “No Bullshit” rule, I love that their open and honest. Their relationship isn’t easy at times but they get there in the end.

I could only give this one a 3 star rating as again, I found myself skipping through half of it as it seemed like a filler book, I enjoyed the beginning and the end but the middle just didn’t do it for me.

I’m interested in seeing how they keep their relationship going IF they keep it going on book 3 of The Empire State Series.

After the first part, A WEEK IN NEW YORK, I was so eager to know what would happen with Anna and Ethan. They've been separated for months now. The gap from all those steamy memories together has been a bit harsh on them, especially Anna. When they encounter each other in London, it is less than casual. Sparks fly. Angry sparks. Hot sparks.

First reviewed on Literaria http://sede-literaria.blogspot.com

Their story gripped me hard in the first part. I really like the fact that they weren't looking to fall in love, but they can't help it. Ethan is attractive not only for his looks, but because he's honest, hard-working, and a good man. He can also be possessive and sexy when he has to. Yay! Anna is smart and has a mind of her own. She's his perfect match.

This second part goes beyond infatuation. It's about two people learning to have a relationship by getting to know each other and overcoming the bumps in the road. Every time they learn a new thing about each other or how to deal with these feelings so new to them, they come out of it more connected, more involved.

I loved every scene filled with emotion and scorching-hot intimacy. This couple really has some magic working on for them. They're funny, romantic, and insanely hot. It was also bittersweet how they dreaded the looming date when Ethan would be moving back to New York. Another painful goodbye for them and for readers alike. I can't wait for what comes next. I need my happy ending!

Autumn in London by Louise Bay is the second book in her Empire State Trilogy. Louise Bay is a powerhouse writer and is now one of a few authors on my auto-read list. The characters are rich and deep, the heat between them is tangible and smoking hot.

Anna is back in London and still trying to reconcile her everyday life with her one amazing week with Ethan. She's worried about her job, ready to move out of her flat that was robbed before her New York trip thanks to her crappy ex-boyfriend.

Ethan is working non-stop in an effort to keep his mind off Anna and now he's headed to London to handle the "Merger" for the law firm he works for. He is trying to decide if he should find her while he's in London or leave it to fate.

It turns out that neither one will have to wait too long for fate to intervene once again in their lives. I really am so impatient to see where and how this story plays out. I can't get enough of Ethan and Anna. LOVED IT!

OMG where can I meet Ethan Scott? This man is abso-freakin-lutly amazing!! Sexy, confident, controlling where it matters, tender and not afraid to share his feelings!

“This is terrible and amazing.” “Terrible and amazing?” Jesus, I couldn’t keep up.”

Ethan is being sent to London for three months to oversee the merger between his New York based law firm and a London based one that is going under. He is excited to find Anna once the initial round of major meetings is over. Little does he know that his law firm is merging with is the one she works for. How will this play out? Will she believe him that this is all coincidence? Can they spend more than a week together as well as real life outside of the bedroom? You HAVE to read this book and find out, it is INCREDIBLE!!! I give this book 5 stars with 5 hands down the pants. Ethan Scott can boss me around anytime! I CANNOT wait for the next book, hurry up Ms. Bay!!

I really enjoyed reading A Week in New York and I couldn't wait to read Autumn in London. At the end of A Week in New York Anna and Ethan parted ways with no exchange of numbers or addresses. I couldn't wait to see how they would cross paths again. Anna's mind went a little crazy when their paths crossed again. But Ethan was able to get her to see the truth. I loved Ethan and Anna together and this time we get more than a week with them.

I enjoyed reading Autumn in London. I know this is book two of three but I ready for Anna and Ethan to get their happy ever after. I can't wait to read book three.

This is the second book in the Empire State series and I loved it.

This is set in London, where Ethan has to go for work, he intends to look for Anna the woman he met in New York and who made him break all of his own rules. Will he take the opportunity to find her and continue thier relationship...well I'm not telling! Read it and find out, it is definitely worth it.

In a typical second book of three, the characters meet again, this time in London. I liked the coincidence. With more drama than the previous one. Ended again on the transatlantic plane.

Reviewed by Donna Elsegood on behalf of Kindle Friends Forever.

This is the second instalment in the trilogy novellas telling the story of Anna Kirby and Ethan Scott. It began with A Week in New York where Anna was on vacation and she meets Ethan it was supposed to be one night of uncomplicated fun that resulted in them spending the week together.
Like all good things the vacation comes to an end and Anna goes home to England. It appears that both Ethan and Anna are more affected by each other than planned and they both in turn have each other on their minds.

Ethan takes a flight to England for head up a takeover of a law firm and plans to visit his sister and family while he is there. All the while on the plane he is thinking about Anna and whether there is any chance of bumping into her in London, big city but hey we are living in hope here.
Anna has delved into her work since being home from New York and worries about her future as there is talk of the law firm being in financial difficulties an possible job losses. Anna still is wondering about Ethan and whether she will see him again. There is a pattern emerging here and it has to be inevitable that they will bump into each other. Coincidence or planned its intriguing to find out.

I have to give away the fact that they do meet otherwise I can not let you into the important part of the story. The passion, the chemistry and the hot sex that Anna and Ethan have sizzles right off the page. I love the banter and the intensity of these two characters and the building feelings.

I hated the ending and not because Louise did anything wrong but leave me hanging again. I wanted to know more about what they had been planning to do New York or England. Yet again Louise spun another good story and I'm not sure it is ever possible to not tell a good hot tale. I'm a huge fan of Louise's work and not just the creation of hot alpha males but good strong heroines and the plots created. I look forward to the next instalment with answers to my questions. Well deserved five stars for a fantastic book.

Book-Challenge 2020: Book 22.2

The story continues as it ended ... we fast forward to a couple weeks after "A Week in New York" and voilà: Everything gets handled by fate. How convenient. *insert eyeroll here*

The next part of this review gets bracketed for spoilers now, because I can't guarantee to keep my mouth shut when it's getting away with me. Also, potty mouth ahead, just so you've been warned. Here we go ...

I have not idea what went wrong with me, but I'll read the third part of their story, too. Maybe I got brainwashed in my sleep, because there's seriously not a single argument I can come up with justifying this decision. Maybe I just have to do it because I got this far, now let's get over the third short part. I'm still hopeful the story turns around (seriously, what's wrong with me?!).
