Luffy and crew are shocked to learn that the Minks were hiding Raizo all along! But just why were the Minks so loyal to this mysterious ninja? When the Straw Hats learn the truth, they'll need to set their sights on taking down one of the four pirate emperors!
Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Another classic with Luffy and company! I always like when a new adventure begins, and the straw hats go on to yet another strange island. This time it's candy-themed. And a lot of plot is going on, with Kaido and the four emperors looming in the background.
Can't wait to see what happens to the latest estranged crew member, Sanji! The backstory with his family is very intriguing. Did Oda really plan all this for years? Wow, One Piece continues to be the greatest comic epic ever...
It's good to see Vivi again. Barring a cover story, it's been so long. She seems happy.
So we've had one half of the Straw Hats in the spotlight for a good year, and now it's the time for the other half... plus Luffy. And they get to join in a much better arc than Dressrosa, I think. It's still a bit long, but it's not as bloated and doesn't get as out of hand and has some great ideas, including a much more fantastic setting that actually does its thing throughout and isn't revealed as a horrific scam halfway through... well, maybe a little if you count Big Mom's hunger-pangs. But still.
And first there's the Zou arc to finish up, mainly with exposition and revelations and setting up future stuff, which is exciting at all but probably my least favourite bits of the story. We need them for the good foundations but that's all they are, foundations. They make the payoffs better, but the payoffs are still better, if you follow. At least there's probably the first really good emotional bit for Momonosuke, and the point where I started to like the little guy. And then elephant smash, which is always nice.
Then it's off to a new arc, and as I said, I remember liking this one a good deal more. We'll see, though.
Y me parece normal.
momonosuke - isn't kinemon's kid - is in fact, lord momonosuke kouzuki aka the heir of the great daimyo of kuri of the wano kingdom, lord oden kouzuki.
they followed master neko and duke inu to find raizo and found him chained within the tree (they didn't want him to give himself up to big mom's people), and there was a red poneglyph that robin could read. it's a road poneglyph that will guide people to the final island, raftel. there's a total of 4 road poneglyph and each one have a specific location inscribed that isn't raftel. once all those locations are know, each point can be marked on a map and at the point of intersection, the destination is raftel. the second poneglyph is with big mom, the third is with kaido. the kouzuki clan were stonemasons who constructed the poneglyphs. momonosuke's father was executed by kaido which meant the hundred beast pirate crew is occupying wano now. oden kouzuki was part of gol d. roger's crew so he knew about raftel.
”I don't mind one bit! After all, I've got strong, reliable friends who will always be there to protect me.”
luffy at first said no to an alliance with the wano samurai and while everyone scolded him, he just wanted to see what momonosuke (as heir and man) would do or say. ultimately, he agreed that he would join forces to take down kaido.
oh no, jack is back to destroy zou.
one year ago, marco clashed with teach in the “payback war” but marco was defeated and teach was acknowledged to be an emperor. cat and dog want to find marco. the elephant started shaking.
momonosuke and luffy can hear someone say “if that is indeed you, quickly! please! please command me, if you're out there.” somehow momonosuke can see jack attacking zou. it's zou's voice. in the past, you committed a crime and so, it was sentence to walk for all eternity. it needs to be given permission to fight. after that, zou used its trunk and swiped jack's pirate ships away.
momonosuke wants to stay back to speak with zou. inuarashi's team will stay with him while nekomamushi team will search for marco. kinemon's team which includes him, zoro, and law will be going to wano. luffy's team will follow pekoms to save sanji.
everyone's heading towards the reverie, including vivi and her father, viola and rebecca, king riku, shiroshi and her family, etc.
lol carrot joined along with luffy's team to save sanji.
news arrived that the HQ of the revolutionary army is in ruins by blackbeard's army.
luffy's crew ran into germa 66's ship while nearing big mom's islands. reige vinsmoke (poison pink) transferred all the poison luffy had ingested to herself. when they arrived on one of the islands, luffy and chopper demolished a dessert cafe by eating the cafe itself and was saved by the cafe owner, pudding aka sanji's bride, who is surprisingly nice.

ZOU ARC - FINAL PART 1. i...i wanna own...this tree whale...
2. ouuu, frick, finally i'm learning more about raftel and the ponegliffs. it's so fucking hype. whole cake and wano is gonna be so crazy, i cannot wait ouuu i cannot wait
3. the fact that luffy refused the request of help from the retinue, and waited for momonosuke to speak, not letting him beg for it too - again, really speaking for his character. he does give the people the respect they deserve, and also holds them accountable no matter their age. in his eyes, they're all truly equal.
4. "mercy only breeds annoying vengeance." - "RUTHLESSNESS IS MERCY UPON OURSELVES?" hehehe
5. both luffy and momonosuke hear voices. is it like the one that hears neptunians? the voice of all things? the elephant?
6. keeping track for myself: so far - the bege allied with big mom, and apoo allied with kaido. luffy and law both are on their own, eustass kid is held prisoner by kaido? so that makes five of the worst generation.
7. OUU VIVI BACK ON SEAAAA? going to MARIJOA??? (oh, the reverie. i forgor)
8. why must charlotte be cute. now it's over with sanji. goodbye, sir.
Good volume as we learn of the history behind many things and Raftel and all thats coming soon and pneglyphs and all while one squad goes to rescue Sanji others go to Wano and we have the crew travelling there and funny scenes happen, enter Germa 66 and first appearance of Big Mom and her face off with Luffy is gonna be awesome. Also Pudding is so cute! We begin the wheat cake island arc next!
Both various details about the ONE PIECE and a part of Sanji´s backstory were revealed in this volume, there was a short but incredible confrontation with Jack, we met Vivi again and we finally saw Big Mom, the last Yonko which was mentioned by name. Do I need to say more?

In this volume, Oda continues the exposition of the rich history of the world in one piece. There is a fine setup for the future powerful enemies yet to come: The four Emperors.
Keep it moving please! Blah blah blah. Let’s get on with sanji’s arc!
There was a line in this volume about how the two emperors and everyone else in world will be after Robin bc she can read that language and that the two emperors were especially after her bc they had two of ponteglifs (however you spell it) themselves. And Robin said she didn’t have to worry bc she has a strong crew looking out for her. This could be something a lot of people breeze past but I’m so focused on it bc it shows so much growth on her part. With everything she went thru she knows that after they saved her that one time, that they’ll always be there to save her again. I cry.
OMG so Zou was just an absolute treat. Loved it. Absolutely one of the best arcs yet, and 100% what I needed after Dressrosa... Now I'm just really scared about Whole Cake Island... I mean I'm so invested, but still, it's sooo long... And no Crew seen anywhere :'( And such a long time until finally Wano!!! Why Oda???
Sanji had a brother and sister, didn’t see that coming! I’m glad we’re getting more of his backstory. His sister seems to have devil fruit powers. But what it is exactly, I’m not sure.
The ending is a crazy juxtaposition. “Is it strawberry jam or someone’s blood? Either one is fine!” Happy trees and flowers singing some very ominous lyrics 😶
Reread 2019 : I don't even know where to start because I want to mention so many things? So let's just ramble and hope I don't forget too much. Trafalgar finally joining in/getting use to the Mugiwaras' nonsense is... *chef kiss*. I have read the beginning of the Wanokuni arc so I already know that having him back as a main is a delight. I do wish we got a little bit more space for the rest of his crew. I really like Carrot and how little she knows about the world. I mentioned in my review of the previous book that I like how this is switching from episodic arcs to arcs that are consequence of the previous arc? And here we keep that going but we still have the road poneglyphes being introduced and explanations about where the other 3 might be. So while it seems like the story is getting away from its main goal, we still have those threads that keep us tied to Luffy wanting to become the pirate king. And the poneglyphes are also a nice way to remind us that each Mugiwara has their own dream and they're not just following Luffy. I will never get over the fact that Sanji and his sibling are just named after numbers? It surprises me every time that yes, this is a thing. I like the intervention of the giant elephant. I'm all for this huge alliance of pirate-samourai-ninjas. It seems like a lot of characters so I have no doubt the Wanokuni arc is gonna be giant. I'm still looking forward to it. I think we all realize that the crew couldn't fight alone forever. But I'm getting off track from what is happening here. I'm glad the other half of the crew gets their chance to shine with Whole Cake arc. But I still want to see the entire crew together again. But I'm also very excited about the Whole Cake arc?? So far I have only read it partly as scans. This is the first time I get to read it from start to finish as volumes. Which is important, to me, because that's the best way to judge an arc. I really liked this one as scans so I hope it will not disapoint as volumes.
It's a lot of exposition but it seems like we have some pretty cool adventures ahead! Plus we saw Vivi and everyone around the world a bit. Which was great. And the crew split again so I'm a bit sad that we won't see some of them for a while but I'm glad the ones who weren't on Dressrosa get some time. I can't wait to see them all reunited though!
