On a purely erotic level, this is a fun, hot little number.
As far as romance goes, this novella is a fail. There is no relationship development, no real plot, no tension.
The MCs discuss forever approximately a minute after they have sex for the first time. The relationship seems based purely on a Daddy/boy dynamic and lust.
What stopped me from really enjoying the story is the incest once-removed angle. Logan gets together with his former stepdad, Craig, who a few years back had sex with Logan's mom.
Just the thought of fucking someone who's slept with a close relative makes my skin crawl. A second cousin I haven't seen since high school graduation? Sure. My DAD? Fuck no. Nope. Just say NO. My brother's ex-boyfriend hit on me once, and I felt dirty for days.
Anyway, I knew all about this prior to reading the story, so maybe my lowish rating isn't fair. If you're looking for simple kinky fun and don't have incest hangups, by all means read this steamy morsel.

Do you know the urge to read a book with a certain plot right now? I felt that way yesterday. I needed a quick fix of Daddy/boy with a touch of taboo, preferably short, so we could get to the sexy smutty parts right away. And this is what came out of it. I have no regrets. 😊
It's not a perfect book, mind you. But for the few minutes it lasted, it was just right.
This book is missing maybe an extra 10 pages. That's not a complaint about it being too short. I just feel like it's missing a little something to better portray the depth of the relationship. It's a little too harsh for me as it is.
Logan is the needy boy who has always felt something for his former stepfather.
Logan was tired of guessing what people wanted and getting it wrong. This was simple and uncomplicated. It was such a relief to let Craig resume control. Adulting sucked. Logan was sick of it. 🥺

This sounded like it had amazing potential, but it simply didn't work for me.
Craig became Logan's step-dad when the boy was twelve and four years later his mother divorced Craig because of some 'incident' that isn't explained at first, but which turns out to be

Holy Hot Damn, Van Dorn nails it!
I think stepdad daddy kink is hard to do well, and no one has ever come closer to my all time favorite stepdad daddy kinkster Simon Strange than Van Dorn does with this one. To prove the attraction goes both ways, and to make sure both parties get what they need out of it? And to make me believe it? YES.
I definitely recommend this one.

If you'd asked me two hours ago if Daddy kink was my thing, I would firmly have said 'no'.
And then this little book comes along. Short, but with both a story and steam that worked really well for me. The BDSM theme is very mild, but the element of handing over complete control and only following orders was well done. I even adored the epilogue, and I'm not usually a fan of those either.
My first book by Lynn van Dorn, and now I really want to read more by this author.

This one gets 5 stars for being unbelievably scorching blistering hot! The whole Daddy/boy dynamic works perfectly and they are exclusive by the end of the last chapter. We get to see them deliriously in love in an awesome little epilogue showing them after they have been together for 10yrs. It is the perfect ending to a perfectly delicious little story!

Maybe if the author considers expanding this the emotional connection, the false-abuse accusation & the newly not-straight aspects could be explored more? Lots to unpack in the characters' past interactions and familial ties that was only barely touched on.

3.5 Hot Daddy stars!! 🤩💕🔥🔥. Likable MCs with sizzling chemistry makes this a steamy May-December Novella. Wish it was longer so that the background and story could have been built a little slowly.. rather than what felt like insta-lust to insta-commitment. Nevertheless it was still a great short with plenty of steam.. 😉. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a light read with a fairly mild daddy-kink. 😊

Rule 47 is a fun and sexy short story with a bit of daddy kink, a little brattiness, and a nice age gap element. I enjoyed seeing the rigid Craig getting shaken up a little as he begins to realize his feelings for Logan, as well as to explore some of his own fantasies. This story has an interesting twist in that while Logan has always known what he likes and what he is into as the more submissive partner, Craig is somewhat out of his element as the dominant one. He has never been with a man (or even interested in one), nor has he really explored daddy kink or any kind of Dom/sub dynamic. In most books I read where there is one partner new to this type of dynamic, the novice is the submissive. So I thought this was a fun twist and I liked seeing Craig opening himself up to these new experiences. I think Van Dorn does a nice job showing how this is something Craig has had in the back of his mind for a while, so it is new, but also not out of nowhere for him.

Oh! I loved this one. So filthy. So good. Craig and Logan have been apart for quite some time, but they haven't lost that spark...that forbidden desire that now scratches the surface.

I'm a big fan of daddy kink, but it's usually hit or miss for me. Rule 47, despite being short, was a hit.
The reason I'm only giving three stars because this isn't a dynamic to be done in just 57 pages. It felt rushed, and even the sex was fast and not as detailed as it should be. It's frustrating when you see how much potential a story has but it's quickly told on a few pages.
I still liked it, so three stars it is.

02/11/24 re-read. Today I'm feeling generous bc this came along when I needed it and it hit just right. So I'm bringing my rating up from 4 stars to 5. This one is short, sweet, and tells what I feel is a complete story in just over an hour long audiobook. Plus, listening to Micheal Ferraiuolo read literally anything is an actual balm to my soul, no joke. A+ on this one. Will read again.

I swear, Michael Ferraiuolo could read anything and I would listen. This was a short erotic romance with a HEA.
It was good, hot, and I enjoyed it a lot. I would have loved a full story of these two, but what was crammed into this short story was awesome. We rarely get a full backstory but this time we did.

Great short daddy kink story. A very reluctant, previously "straight" older guy takes in his former stepson and things in his life go haywire from there. By the time, the first "Daddy" is uttered though, the story is nearly finished so I wouldn't put it among the best daddy kink books I've read. But age gap? Oh yes, indeed. And I love that as much as the Daddy issues.
