I like the uniqueness of the story.

However, I find it to be kind of boring overall. I give it an extra star cause I like the idea for the plot, but I couldn't get into it or feel with the characters as much as I would have wished.

It’s a cute fluffy story. Don’t expect anything in-depth. It was just ok. I wasn’t wowed by this one as I was by previous titles by this author. It passed the the time. I’ll give book 2 a try and see if I want to continue the series.

Sweet story

Extremely sweet story which was nice but it lacked any real intensity and that includes the chemistry between the main characters.

This was not for me.
I found this book to just be bland/boring. The characters personalities didn't stand out, I didn't really care for the romance, and it was a bit too fast (which makes sense due to the length of this book, and it being a standalone).

It's an easy, fast read, and if someone is interested in a single mom romance where she finds a sweet guy who happens to be a dragon shifter, then this would be for them, but it was just a little too fast and unseasoned for me.

THE RED DRAGON’S BABY is the first story in the Shifter Dads series by Zoe Chant. And if this first story is any indication we are in for a delightful treat in a small, isolated town full of shifters but also set so apart from the rest of the world that they are becoming forgotten and that’s not good for business or the residents of the town.

Katie is on the run with her six-month-old son, Noah. She’s left behind a possessive, arrogant, dangerous ex who only saw her and their son as possessions to be kept in line until needed. His family was no better, and Katie knew that the only hope for a real life away from being held onto until it could be known if Noah was indeed a shifter himself, in his teen years,… or tossed aside as worthless if he were a mere human. This was not the life she wanted for her son or herself so she planned, maybe not as long as she should have but desperation cannot wait for perfection. Now she’s found herself at the end of a dirt lane, with a real wood cabin to stay in and kind people around them. She could settle here, but can she trust them with her secrets and Noah’s life.

Ronan seeks isolation and he’s found it deep in the woods in his small cabin with a community of shifters nearby that he trusts and interacts with upon occasion. He also running but more from himself than an outside influence. Ronan was raised in a violent environment where the only acceptable way to get ahead, move up through the ranks of the dragon clan and prove your worth was through backstabbing, constant battles and simply taking what you wanted from humans and shifters alike. He didn’t want that life, yet he feared that he could become violent at the slightest provocation since it was how he was raised… so he keeps to himself, on the edges of the community and lives a lonely life. Until Katie, his mate and little Noah came to town.

I was easily swept up into Katie, Ronan and Noah’s lives in THE RED DRAGON’S BABY. Their story is interesting and believable in so many ways for who hasn’t run into someone who cares more for their image than the people in their lives. It was a joy to watch Ronan slowly let Katie into his life, almost without even thinking twice about what he’s doing… but then finding your mate will give you a different look on life. This small town is full of interesting shifters and we meet many residents who will have their own tales told one day. In just the first book I already have a good feel for the people of this town and I want to know more. Of course, danger eventually finds Katie and Noah. That epic showdown was intense and, again, gives me a real feel for how the members of this town will protect their own.

I felt quite comfortable and at home in this first story of the Shifter Dads series. Loved Ronan, Katie, and Noah and I’m definitely looking forward to discovering more about several of the single dads in town. If you love Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance then I’d not hesitate to recommend THE RED DRAGON’S BABY or the eventual other stories in this series. I had a great time, and I’m sure you would, too.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

A fairly simple, easy to read feel good story. There was nothing outstanding about this book but it was a cute story for the length that it was. Don’t expect anything too in depth.

💢Oooooo the start of a really good series. I'm in love.....sometimes a Dad isn't a dad, but a man who has no blood ties is a DADDY.

🔹️Katie Miller is a human, who hocks everything worth anything and takes her six month old son Noah and runs. Her ex the Charming Debonair Victor not only took everything from her, he showed her his true colors and a world she never knew existed. After she got pregnant things changed in BIG way. Not wanting her son to be raised in this kind of environment Katie sneaks off with little money and no where to go. She stopped at-Sleepy Oak Cabins nestled in the back woods by a little town called Oak Ridge. On that very same day she literally runs into this attractive huge hunk who takes her breath away. Berarading herself for her sexual fantasies she heads back to her cabin. Trying to figure out where to go next, her fantasy comes looking for her.

🔹️ Ronan Reinhardt is a Dragon Shifter who has left his family years ago, he didn't like all there games and violence. He was tired of fighting he wanted peace and solitude all by himself in his cabin helping people every once in a while in the town of Oak Ridge never getting close to no one. Years went by and everything was fine until this little redhead with a baby drops by.

A little too saccharine

There has to be conflict to make a good story. Katie has a problem. She wanders into this sweet little town with lots of sweet people. They can help her, if she'll let them, because they are also powerful shifters.

Ronan is so sweet, it's wince-worthy. But this book's biggest problem is the people in town are way too nice and trusting. It's basically a utopia. Utopias are boring. There needs to be some people who aren't on the same page as everyone else, even if they're nice once you get to know them.

Her One True Love!!!

Katie, a mother on the run from her baby's father who planned to give her son Noah a better life than the one she left behind. They drove for hours making sure noone was following them, they stopped at Sleepy Oak Cabins in Oak Ridge. She was ready to do things on her own until she met a handsome man who tilted her world on its axis.

Ronan, a Red Dragon shifter who'd came to Oak Ridge to get away from the violence of his upbringing. He never intended to stay, two years later and he was still there. He bought a cabin in the woods to keep people away from him and then he took over helping Rita and Luis (an elderly couple) with their complex.

Sleepy Oak Cabins was a place where people wanted to go to get away from the city life. Katie met Ronan and she was very intrigued by him. He knew that she was in some kind of trouble so he took it upon himself to make sure she and Noah were safe. Ronan and Katie were mates, finding that out was a great joy for them both.

When Katie's ex tracked her down, Ronan wanted to take care of the threat on his own. But she wasn't having any of it, she and Lachlan let him know that the entire town had his back, no matter what.

When all was said and done, Noah, Katie and Ronan got their HEA.

THE RED DRAGON'S BABY is the first book in Zoe Chant's SHIFTER DADS series. It was alluring, intriguing and heartwarming. I recommend you grab yourselves a copy. Two thumbs up!

The Red Dragons Baby – Zoe Chant

I absolutely loved this book and devoured it in one sitting.

Katie and her baby son Noah are fleeing from her ex, a nasty hateful man who viewed them as nothing but possessions.

Ronan is a Dragon Shifter who after being raised in a town where fighting was expected and winning rewarded. Now lives an almost solitary life afraid of being exactly what he ran from.

The budding relationship between Katie and Ronan is well written, their gentle pull towards each other feels natural and the dawning realisation for Ronan that Katie is his mate is played out beautifully.

Noah is front and centre in the book which is lovely to see as too often in books “the child/baby” is used more as a tool that can be put away for the romance part of the book.
Ronan’s interactions with Noah are sweetly written and you can see him falling as much in love with the baby as you can with Katie.

The final showdown with the abusive ex, is well written not only freeing Katie and Noah from his clutches but also showing them they now have a whole town behind them, it also serves to show Ronan that as much as he had been hiding away, the good things he had done for the town had already made him a welcome and accepted part of the community.

I am looking forward to more books in this series, the cast of characters were entertaining and warm, each with there own hint of a story just waiting to be told.

Safe in the arms of her mate

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast read with a town full of shifters that opened the door for many future books in this series. A young mom, Katie is on the run with her baby, Noah, who is just trying to escape her ex, who is a shifter that doesn't love her & only wants their son for one reason. She has no family & no destination in mind, but just wants to find a safe place where she & her baby can start a new life & once again be free & able to enjoy life. A stop over for rest from from driving could bring her what she didn't realize she was looking for when she accidentally meets Ronan during a short hike in the woods. Ronan is a red Dragon shifter who lives like a hermit in a cabin in the woods to keep others in the town safe & out of harms way out of fear of what could happen from himself because of what he knows what he is capable of doing due to his upbringing. Once he meets Katie, he feels the need to be near & protect her & Noah from whatever she is afraid of & running from if only he can get her to open up to him & he can trust himself around her. You'll have to read The Red Dragon's Baby to find out what happens between Ronan & Katie and what happens if her past catches up. I am looking forward to reading Shifter Dads Book 2 by Zoe Chant.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I buy most of Zoe Chant’s books because I love her HEAs and her style of writing! I have bought this book too!

The cover is adorable because who doesn’t love seeing a shirtless man holding a cute baby!

This is the first in a new series. It is for adults only due to the steamy content.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It made me happy to read about Katie who is a single mom. Katie and her son endured being ignored and basically being held prisoner by her baby daddy. She is freaked out that she was followed, and she just wants what is best for her son. Ronan is trying to live a good life, but he thinks he is bad like this family and that he will corrupt the good town. He doesn’t realize he is a part of the town, and he doesn’t even realize that Katie is his mate. He wants to protect them and keep them safe. Both are awesome characters with baggage, and they made it really easy to fall in love with their story.

I highly recommend to any shifter fans who love single moms and shifters who want them! I can’t wait to see who gets the next story!

Takes it like a champ!

Kindle Unlimited purchase
By Zoe Chant
Katie has been driving for six hours with her six-month-old son in the back seat. She's had enough she has put up with Victor and his family long enough. Having to take care of her son she pulls over at the first place she comes to. Not knowing that fate is helping her with her happily ever after.
Ronan is a red dragon and red dragons are known to be dangerous. He doesn't want to be like that so he leaves his family and home to find a better life, that was 2 years ago. He has tried to limit his involvement with the town and its residents. But for some reason, it hasn't worked out like he's wanted it to.
Katie knows about shifters with Victor being a lion shifter so Ronan and the town being dragons it's not much of a surprise. But with the problems with Victor you would think she would have "some" apprehension about Ronan and the others being shifters but nope she takes it like a champ. And I'm happy ZC didn't go that way with the book I think it would've taken away from the book.
This is book one of a new series. If the rest of the series is anything like this one then I'm going to really enjoy it.

Cute, short read. This is an insta-love, shifter PNR. Ronan is a dragon shifter who has isolated himself from his clan because he deplores their violent nature. He settles outside Oak Ridge, a town of shifters who have come together to form a peaceful shifter community that supports one another. The residents of Oak Ridge have been welcoming to Ronan, but he has continued to keep his distance due to his worry about his violent nature coming out. Katie is on the run. She is human, but has recently had a son with a lion shifter. She took her son and left because the father only wanted their son if he was a shifter, which they wouldn't know until he turned 18. Katie didn't want her son being raised by his controlling, deeming, dismissive father who would reject him immediately if he wasn't a shifter. Katie stops for the night in Oak Ridge where she meets Ronan. They quick admit to their growing feels and then realize they are mates. Katie's ex's shows up and demands his son back. All of the community gathers together to support Ronan and Katie. Of course, Ronan and Katie get their happily ever after. I enjoyed this book and will read the other books in the series.

I really enjoyed the first half, it reminded me of a supernatural hallmark movie a little. I like the main sort of plot plan she has: cute baby, running from a bad ex, hot mountain man, cute small town- all great. I just don’t think she executed it well. She builds the characters and the cute small town really well and I’m interested in them, which means I’m probably going to continue reading the series, even tho the main characters getting together felt incredibly abrupt and rushed, and the sex scenes felt unrealistic and lackluster. I’m fine w a love at first sight kind of whirlwind, or even a quick hook up if the chemistry and the plot is there, but the set up for that just wasn’t there. The big confrontation felt kind of plastic as well. The whole second half was just kind of a lackluster mess. Fingers crossed the series just gets better from here.

Big points off for no mention of using or even considering using birth control or protection, ever, from either one of them, especially since she has a 6 month old baby, they just met, and she says she doesn’t want to get pregnant again yet. 🤦‍♀️

You get what you expect with this book. The fluff of shifter mate's instant connection with an adorable baby thrown in the mix, and the steam that often comes from sex scenes with a man with an animalistic side and shifter stamina. Katie and Ronan isn't a classic romance that will stand the test of time, but if you like the blurb it will hit the spot.

Saying that, is it harsh of me to rate two stars while saying you get what you asked for? It's the ending for me. The plot isn't just the romance, it's Katie fleeing ftom her ex and Noah's father. It's set up through the book. The ending is too abrupt, both from Victor showing up to the showdown, and the showdown itself. When a sex scene feels longer than a fight, you've lost me a bit. Plus Katie has a moment that knocks her down a few pegs in my opinion. She's smart while getting away- she sells jewellery and keeps it cash in case Victor can see her bank account, and she had the patience to slowly pack her belongings without raising suspicion. But you're telling me that she didn't think about the fact that controlling Victor bought and set up her phone. She thinks he can access her bank, but is fine keeping her phone. Come on.

This was a quick and light read. The romance between the hero and heroine was heartwarming, not to mention the adorable interactions between Ronan and baby Noah. Additionally, I couldn’t help becoming slightly invested in Chant’s community of Oak Ridge and its shifter citizens. I would definitely read other books in this series.

A wonderful swoony shifter story

I loved reading Katie, Ronan and Noah’s story. It has a bit of light danger mixed in with all the swoony love. Katie is a single mom running with her infant son, Noah, trying to escape from her lion shifter ex. She ends up in Oak Ridge, a small shifter friendly town where she meets Ronan, a dragon shifter. Ronan and Katie are fated mates. They will have to fall in love, deal with their individual issues all the while trying to deal with Katie’s ex. The book is fairly low angst and has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, a bit of steam, a small amount of danger, strong friendships, strong families and painful pasts. The book was well written and included three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging story line. All of the shifters Zoe Chant creates are loyal, upstanding, loving, all around good people who generally want to make the world a better place and Ronan is no different. I am excited to read the rest of the series.

Oak RidgeNothing like a picture of an attractive Dragon shifter holding a baby!

What a great intro to a new series. Katie ran away from her ex-boyfriend because he didn't treat her or their son right. She ends up in Oak Ridge where she meets Ronan. I love small towns and this one showcases all the good that they can be. Roman is instantly attracted, but doesn't realize she is his mate right away. Katie doesn't understand why she is attracted to the first guy she meets after leaving her ex. Both of them are willing to spend time together, which lets their feelings grow quickly. The pace is lively, the tone is upbeat and hopeful, the storyline is character oriented with some action and steamy scenes, and the characters are vibrant and engaging! Who wouldn't fall in love with a guy who asks to be trained in changing a diaper, just so he can help out! Noah, the baby, is a cutie too! Now I have to wait for Lachlan's story! I can't wait! Enjoy!

First book in the Shifter Dad series, and I am looking forward to many more. The stories center around a small quite town full ofn shifters. So many single males. Katie is on the run with her baby after falling the for sweet talk of a very dangerous lion shifter. The first shifters she ever new about and now she has been driving and needs to stop to rest. Off the beaten path she finds a perfect small town. Ronan lives in a cabin after escaping his damgerous, evil family. He wanted his life to be different, he kept to himself, not going in town much at all, but he certainly did not plan on meeting his mate. Katie and baby Noah have found the perfect life with dragon shifter Ronan, but how will their life be when Victor (baby Dad) shows up with a pride of lion shifters to get Noah? great story, the people in the town are so great, love the HEA

It’s all about the Shifter Dads😀

Katie and her son, Noah are leaving their old life behind. She stops in Oak Ridge and rents a room for the both of them and is convinced she’s going to make it on her own and provide the kind of life she can for Noah. When she stumbles upon Ronan cutting firework the next day, an attraction sparks between them and he insinuates his way into their lives in an acceptable way, by helping out a tired single mother 💕

Ronan is a little wary initially with Katie, but only because of his shifter nature but they both soon come to learn more about each other and Katie realises he is a good man and that she can trust her judgment once again❣️

Thank you to Zoe for my advanced copy for which I leave my honest review.

Escaping to home
I love this new book in a brand new series by one of my favorite authors. All of these characters are so relatable. You could drive to any small town USA and find them, well except this is a small town of shifters. That’s right a brand new town of mostly dragons, but they have the same issues and concerns as all of us. As each character enters you feel that need to know their story. But this tale is about the red dragon, the new girl in town and her son. Who doesn’t love a hot guy with a tortured soul? Add in an adorable baby boy and I was hooked. The author did a fantastic job with this story and the slow path to HEA. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Great start to was new series

Ronan finds himself thanks to finding his mate Katie and her son Noah. I enjoyed discovering the new town and the people in the town. All of those dragons and a Griffin as well should make for fun adventures. Victor was a bully and deserved more than he got. I have to admit a dragon rolling on the ground with a lion was a new one I never saw coming. In human form might have been better. I do believe this was the first time I read of a dragon fighting that way and frankly I did not prefer it. Just didn't feel right at all. I love the town coming together. Sounds like a beautiful location. I look forward to additional books.

The Red Dragon's Baby, Shifter Dads, Book 1.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters called to me, and the plot, although simple, was enjoyable.
Katie and her young son are escaping an abusive relationship with her baby's biological father and his family. Ronan has escaped his violent past and is just beginning to enjoy being involved with the local community.
They discover together, the small community, new friends and relationships. All in all a lovely story to get away from it all with.
I can definitely recommend this book and personally I'm eagerly awaiting the next in the series.

Pretty Good

It was a decent read. While not my favorite Zoe Chant book, it is pretty good. I’ll probably continue this series since I have plenty of time in quarantine. Especially since the first books in these series usually aren’t the best as they need time to establish the setting and characters for the rest of the books.
My interest in the story is probably a 3 star level but I like the author a lot and I think that my lower interest is due to the down to earth nature of the book versus a more exciting action based one.
Overall I would recommend this to someone who likes paranormal romance even though it wasn’t my favorite. :)

Writing Style Changes

The beginning and ending of book sounds like 2 completely different authors. Great, informal, modern-day writing style at the beginning. By the end, the writing was so formal it felt like I was reading a piece of non-fiction. It was also quite a bit old-fashioned. I like some of this author’s work but since the author is a pen for multiple authors, they should work on keeping the tone of a book consistent throughout each one. I completed the book, but unfortunately won’t be able to finish the series unless I know for sure the writing is consistent in them.
