Secrets are my specialty.

I'm Mai Fairchild --- fox shifter, sister's keeper, and bane of the local werewolf pack. In a world where different is dangerous, my sister and I must pretend to be human at all costs. Too bad I just lost the job that lets me live under the radar while putting food on my sister's plate.

Enter an enticing werewolf who offers enough cash to upgrade our diets from ramen noodles to salami if I join him on a magical hunt. But can I afford to accept the opportunity when the risk of working closely with every fox shifter's sworn enemy is so great?

This box set includes the full trilogy: Wolf's Bane, Shadow Wolf, and Fox Blood.

The werewolves have hunted fox shifters into near extinction, so two fox shifters living surrounded by wolves makes for some great drama. The stories in this set are fast-paced and full of action, suspense, mystery, and just a touch of romance as sisters Mai and Kira try to make their way in a world that seems out to get them. Here are my reviews for each book in this collection:

Wolf's Bane - Great start to a new series and this time it's not only wolves...you've got foxes too. Mai and her sister are all alone in the world and are two fox shifters in hiding surrounded by werewolves. With both her parents dead, Mai finds herself doing whatever she has to in order to protect her sister and their secret. A skilled fighter, Mai takes part in an underground fight club to help make ends meet. Gunner is an alpha werewolf who along with his pack leader brother and some other packmates has come to the city to try to discover who is behind some supernatural killings. Mai and Gunner's paths keep intersecting and the find themselves not only drawn together by circumstances but attraction as well. When faced with no other options, Mai reluctantly turns to Gunner for help only to find herself in over her head. When her little sister is kidnapped and her secret is on the verge of exposure, will Mai have the strength to do what needs to be done to save her sister? Will the revelation of her secret be the end or just the beginning? This book was action-packed and you will find yourself drawn into the story as you try to guess what will happen next and you will be brought along as Mai discovers more about her heritage.

Shadow Wolf - Make sure you've read the first book in the series to really understand and enjoy this one. The second book picks up a little bit after the ending of the first with Mai and Kira settling into life within the werewolf pack. But Kira is mysteriously getting sicker and Mai is resisting accepting pack life. And to further complicate matters, Ransom returns and demands Gunner and his little pack return to the clan for a gathering. Mai's search for a solution to Kira's illness leads her right back to the pack and the one she believes is behind everything. But nothing is easy and things aren't as they seem. Strange dreams and malevolent magic surround this pack. The story was gripping and the twists and revelations made for an enthralling read that surprised me in the end.

Fox Blood - While I'm sad to see this series come to its end, this book was fantastic. The story was filled with action, mystery, secrets, and love. Mai has grown so much as a character and person throughout the series and has faced some difficult choices but none as tough as the dilemma she faces in this book. Gunner has been by her side supporting her the whole time even when it has had some disastrous consequences and this book was no different. Lots of action and a few surprises and twists that had be devouring the story to see how it all ends. I'd love to see Kira get her own series in the future!

I read all these books as they were released. Each was an ARC from the author. My review is voluntary.

Wolf's Bane
Once again Aimee Easterling has created a great female protagonist. Mai is talented, loyal, and snarky. Forced to keep many secrets she is determined to protect her sister and live her life as best she can. The death of her mother has left her with little information about her Kitsune, Japanese fox shifter, background. She knew that werewolves were rumored to kill the magic using foxes and that her star ball was where her magic was centered, but she had few details of the whys or the history of the animosity. She and Kira have kept their fox-shifter abilities secret, wolf-shifters seemed to assume they were just wolves, and she has managed to use her magic without calling attention to it. She is juggling a lot of balls, including a social worker who seems determined to remove Kira from her custody.

When Mai encounters two strange wolf shifters in the fighting ring, one in human form and one in wolf, she has to figure out how to lose the fight as she was ordered to do without making it obvious to the betting public. As she comes to find out, losing a fight is the least of her worries when it comes to Gunner. Gunner has come to town to find a murderer and believes she can help him. When her world starts falling down around her she discovers that this wolf, who should be her enemy, is a worthy partner. But what is going to happen when he discovers her secrets. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Shadow Wolf
Fantastic second book. I would advise reading these in order as you will have an easier time understanding the story line, and because Aimee's books are awesome!

Kai, Kira, Gunner, and the gang are still trying to figure out who has taken the star ball that belonged to the girls' mother, and why Kira seems to be growing weaker every day. On top of it all, Kai is still trying to keep custody of Kira and there is a hearing coming up to decide it all. When Gunner's brother, the apparent alpha, turns up to reclaim his wolves, things get even hairier. Kai is no longer sure who is friend and who is enemy, and this just might get her and her sister killed, or worse.

Fox Blood
The final book in the series brings Mai and Kira to a small house in the territory of Gunner's wolf pack. Mai is a still not sure this is a good idea, but except for the being close to her mate part. Unfortunately she and Gunner are not getting the alone time she was hoping for, what with the appearance of not one, but two more fox shifters in pack territory. Maui is having a hard time keeping the pack from falling apart due to the prescence of so many kitsune, one who is claiming to be a long lost relative. Then there is the Alpha brother feud, and the sudden proliferation of strange wolves near pack boundaries. Mai is going to need all her interpersonal and fighting skills to stay ahead of this poop storm.

As always, Aimee Easterling reliably delivers fun shifter stories with exciting plots. I love that this series adds kitsune to Ms. Easterling's world of werewolves, blending her delightful take on shifters with magic. This trilogy was suspenseful and fun, but definitely best read in order, so this box set is a convenient way to read it.

Wolf's Bane - This first story started with a great hook and effortlessly captured and held my interest. It was fast-paced with an exciting, action-filled plot that presented some unexpected twists as our heroine Mai struggled to protect her sister from an increasing number of threats while also trying to track down a serial killer.

Shadow Wolf - This story picked up shortly after Wolf's Bane ended. It was fast-paced with an exciting, action-filled plot that presented some unexpected twists as our heroine Mai struggled to track down a serial killer, recover her mother’s magic, protect her sister, and learn how to function as a member of a pack. The only downside is that some of the action scenes involve dreams and possession and I was sometimes confused about what was happening and who was responsible.

Fox Blood - This story picked up shortly after Shadow Wolf ended and is an interesting and exciting story that delves deeper into how pack bonds and kitsune magic actually work. It was fast-paced with an exciting, action-filled plot that presented some unexpected twists as our heroine Mai learned about both her kitsune heritage and what it means to be an alpha’s mate. The ending felt just a little bit more rushed than I would have preferred, but it does bring the series to a satisfying conclusion. I really have no complaints, other than the fact that I am sad at the prospect of not having any more books to read in this series.

I really liked the characters in this series. Mai is strong but vulnerable, relatable, and easy to cheer on. She makes some frustrating decisions at times, but you can understand why she acts the way she does. She's under a lot of stress but remains quite likable. Her sister Kira is about as adorable as a bratty teenager can be, and I loved Gunner and his pack. Even Kira’s social worker was fun, although I’m not sure her responses to certain situations were believable. I will miss reading about these characters!

If you like urban fantasy or paranormal mystery/suspense with a hint of romance, give this series a try.

A trilogy with Kitsumes! Interesting, suspenseful and entertaining story with different and complex characters that attracted my attention immediately. Read each story individually and now they are together to enjoy without delay.
Wolf Bane
Mai had been hiding hers and her sister true nature for long time, but with a serious threat lurking around and a sexy werewolf after her, all caution was lost. While trying to discover the killer had she made a mistake? Who really was her worst enemy? An interesting and magical story with strong and mysterious characters, legend, action and suspense. Liked the intriguing Gunner and his protective demeanor. The fox shifters strength and the star ball caught my attention. Interesting and intriguing first book.
Shadow Wolf
Struggling to be accepted in the Atwood pack, Mair Fairchild had to face distrust, threats and betrayal. Intended to protect her sister and discover the one behind the darkness, she will risk all to success. And things were not as they seemed. Little by little the secrets are being revealed and still there were more issues Mai and Gunner had to deal with. Enjoyed the plot development and how Mai and Gunner were dealing with their situation as a wolf and a kitsume. Suspense, interesting narrations and descriptions, magic, exciting scenes with violence and romance.
Fox Blood by Aimee
Mai was thinking about what was best for Gunner and her sister but, she was walking on quicksand. Things were not working and there was another surprise. A new threat was upon all their heads and with little choice Mai had to risk all. Liked Mai’s insight and how and how she was reasoning with herself. Interesting and mysterious the kitsune and their magic. Enjoyed this well written story that kept me intrigued all the time with its not at all predictable plot development. Intense and intriguing descriptions that had me captivated, good and strong characters, drama, magic, mystery, strong emotions, violence and a suspense that was escalating each time.

Wolf's Bane: Moon Marked #1
Mai Fairchild is responsible for keeping her young sister safe, and avoiding being noticed by the local wolf pack. It isn't easy being a fox shifter pretending to be human. When she starts receiving threats from a mysterious stranger, Mai will find herself working with werewolves she is hesitant to trust. Gunner will find our quickly that it isn't easy to protect a willful fox shifter, and that she seems to be, somehow, connected to the deaths of two werewolves.
Wow, absolutely fascinating, unique characters. Exciting, action packed, suspenseful plot with humor and magic. Fantastic book, I loved it!

Shadow Wolf: Moon Marked #2
Mai is still unsure about being considered part of the Atwood wolf pack, but is grateful to Gunner for his help in keeping her sister in her custody. The Master is still wrecking havoc on humans and wolves. Mai and Gunner, as well as packmates loyal to him, are desperately trying to find the evil being before he completely drains Kira's life.
Fascinating, unique, and well written characters who fight to keep friends and pack mates alive. Exciting, action packed plot with magic, shifters, and unexpected twists. Fantastic book, I loved it!

Fox Blood: Moon Marked #3
Mai and her sister have moved into her alpha wolf's territory, but the appearance of an unknown fox shifter may destroy her happiness. Mai, and her almost mate Gunner, have told the young woman, fox shifter, that they will protect her, but her presence could destroy the pack. Mai's determination to protect those that she loves will have her reluctantly agreeing to become her long lost grandmother's apprentice, and leaving Gunner.
Fascinating and well written characters willing to fight family and foe to Shane their happily ever after. Fantastic and action packed paranormal romance series set in a unique world. I loved thus book, and this series.

I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.

Wolf's Bane
I got this as an ARC. I loved it. I've never heard of werefoxes before but it makes sense that, if werewolves exist, werefoxes can exist also. Naturally, the foxes and the wolves don't get along together and the wolves are a threat to the foxes. Luckily for Mai, although the werewolves can identify that she is 'were', they don't know that she is a fox instead of a wolf.
Mai is looking after her sister Kira, trying to not get noticed by the local werewolf pack - and then a new Alpha and new pack appear in the neighbourhood. Mai loses her job and is at risk of having Kira taken into care. Is there anything else that can go wrong?
Shadow Wolf
Mai is still trying to care for her younger sister, Kira. They are kitsunes (were-foxes) hanging out with a small pack of were-wolves led by Gunner. Something is wrong with Kira and Mai is searching for a reason and a cure while trying not to get attacked by other were-wolves. AND then there's the Master - a mystery related to Mai's mother. I really enjoy Aimee's books and writing style.
Fox Blood
I got this as an ARC but I've enjoyed the others in the series.
Mai has joined a werewolf pack cos she's getting close to the Alpha. She's not sure if she's ready to declare "Mate". Part of the problem is that she's not a werewolf. She's a WEREFOX (or kitsune) and werewolves don't really like kitsunes.
The pack aren't really ready to accept her as the Alpha's mate and that means that they have less trust in the Alpha. The pack is fracturing.
Mai's Grandmother turns up and rescues Mai and her sister during an attack on the pack. Poor Mai - Grandma didn't turn up just to say 'Hi.' Did Grandma rescue Mai or kidnap her?

Good series. Loved it.

Moon Marked Trilogy was another example of Aimee Easterling's unique outlook on traditional werewolf legends. She definitely make you think, and i enjoy that in a writer. I liked the introduction of the kitsune into werewolf society. Through it all, Mai stays a rock, fighting for her sister's safety and freedom.

The storyline is fast-paced and well written, filled with lore, danger, intrigue and mayhem. The characters are well developed and endearing. I look forward to more books by Ms. Easterling.

Excitement never ceases in this Trilogy

What a wonder of a a Trilogy. I' m in a awe at the world of Werewolves, and ketsuni Foxes, Aimee Easterling has created. Mai's task of keeping her sister safe and out of the hands of social workers would be enough of a task for anyone, but for Mai this becomes one minor task of so many more. For starters, learning to trust and allow help from an Alpha werewolf, followed by internal wars, strange ketsuni threatening hard won modicum of peace, and always in the forefront keeping her sister, Kira, safe. It is a Trilogy filled to the brim wt interesting, and believable, characters which you either love and shudder over every downturn which could lead to utter destruction, or their opposites who are determined on their destruction. A totally satisfying series, well written, and thought out, which made me wish there were more 'Mai' tales. Do read them, you will not be disappointed.

Sum up of the book:

Mai Fairchild is a young fox shifter who is struggling to raise her sister. They do not know much about their kitsune magic abilities
and have no family around to help them. Having just lost her job and struggling to financially care for her sister , She meets several werewolves and they offer her a much needed job .

My review :

The whole trilogy was entertaining. I found the story about kitsunes and kitsune magic so unique, a nice change of pace to the werewolves and witches books. Mai was such a loyal, brave and selfless character.
I will note that I didn't care much for the MMC he was a bit of a pushover and a bit too submissive to me for a alpha werewolf.
I felt like this was a medium paced book. I would recommend to read it as it was a nice unique read for a paranormal book.

ONE INTENSELY EXCITING TREAT!!!
Rocking it! Aimee braces the wind, batters the rain and tosses the waves, running rampant and calling the shots propelling this gem into the eye of the storm, breaking it down, blowing it into a tailspin with shocking results. Amazing well rounded scenario's, revving up the anticipation and adrenaline with such intensity and precision, fusing this gem together flawlessly. The personalities are well matched and blended with enough flaws for diversity. The characters and scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and colorful descriptions so rich and lively, they blend and flow beautifully. Remarkable job Aimee, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

This in an engaging set of three books with interesting characters, centered on fox and wolf shifters who are trying to puzzle out their relationships in the face of dire threats. You will race through the entire set in one setting if you could.

A very entertaining trilogy. Books 2 and 3 built well on its previous book. Each book had its own twist that added to the excitement. I can only guess where book 4 is headed and I'm pretty sure it will be a wild ride.
