It was ok but to be honest I found the heroine quite annoying with her constant tears. The reason why she hated him well that reason was pretty silly to me. As for the H he was just a little too wimpy for me. I love obsessed hero’s but he came across as a beta not an alpha which I prefer. The story wasn’t bad it’s just the main characters who weren’t to my taste.

When I first read the blurb for Havoc, I was really excited to read it. I mean, arranged marriage of a cold hero with a possessive love for a strong willed heroine, sign me up! I really, really tried to like this book but unfortunately it was not for me. The plot had great potential but overall lacked the depth I required to enjoy it. The characters weren’t developed enough for me and at times I found both main characters annoying. Eva’s inconsistent feelings towards Daniel and Daniel’s inability to show or tell Eva his true feelings just became more and more frustrating as the book went on.
Although I didn’t enjoy Havoc, this is just my opinion and others may really adore it. This is my first time reading a book by SS Richards, and despite not enjoying it I wouldn’t be opposed from reading more of her work.

Havoc by S.S. Richards is a standalone dark romance. The story looks at the relationship between Daniel and Eva. Eva is promised to Daniel by marriage when her father makes a deal with him, but Eva can’t stand Daniel and on the night of her wedding runs away. Fast forward three years and Daniel has found Eva and is going to make her pay, not only for running away but also for the sins of her father.
This book, although a dark read had a lot of revenge elements in it, where Daniel was always taking his anger out on Ava and thought that she was lying and hiding secrets. She has no qualms about telling him that she doesn’t love him and finds him abhorrent and it is only throughout the rest of the book that the puzzle pieces make sense on why she feels that way.
If you like your books with lots of twist and turns, the this is the one for you!
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review 😊
This is my first book from this author. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. My biggest concern is that I felt the story was underdeveloped.
I purchased it a while back and it got buried in my library. I skimmed the first part of the book in order to go forward and pick up where I left off. The story and plot had promise but wasn't executed as well as it should have been.
Daniel and Eva's characters were difficult to connect with until the final few chapters. Then everything they wanted to say to each other throughout the book is crammed into the last few pages of this book. By the end of the book I had a better understanding of the plot and the two main characters, but felt that it took too much time to get to that point. A story needs to progress or otherwise it gets bogged down. There is allot of push and pull, back and forth between the characters with neither of them trusting the other, even after they are married. The writing wasn't bad, so I will give this author another try, perhaps with something more current.
The ending does tie up loose ends that were prevalent throughout the entire story, just "too little too late".
I freaking love S.S. Richards & all her stories! She gets better with each one she writes! I'm so glad I get to write with this amazingly talented lady for our upcoming series.
So I have read many books in the mafia world and where the woman runs or is afraid of the soon to be husband. So when you read the first chapter you are all ya okay I can get into this book, but then I totally lost the story. The way Daniel is, makes him a character to dislike most of the time. And if Eve was that strong to run away from him years ago, why is she so afraid and docile now? Like I said it is a strange read.
—>>> For three years Daniel has been searching for his wife, the one who had gotten away on their wedding night. She was meant to be his and now he is forced to hunt her down. Now that he has finally caught up with her, he was going to make her pay for running, and he has just the right collateral to do so. Anna does not know that Daniel now has more to lose than than what he has already lost with her.
The warring in their minds and hearts between what they want and what they cannot sacrifice for it is a constant struggle for them both, but something has to give.
This is a dark romance of two souls who should have had a beautiful life together, but the important people in their lives have darkened their past and now taint all possibly of a future together.
Eva Walton has been hiding for the past three years and has become “Alice Ross” in an attempt to escape from her husband, Daniel. Three years ago her father forced her to marry Daniel and instead of living in a loveless marriage she decided to run and start over. Daniel Walton plans on destroying Eva for rejecting him and running out on their marriage. Now he will not let Eva out of his sight and wants her to start being a traditional life. Both Eva and Daniel hold secrets from the other that could destroy them but how far will Daniel go to get what he wants from Eva? Will Eva give in to Daniel or will she use everything she can to destroy him once and for all? This was a great book with some twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting to keep me hooked and wanting more. My heart truly broke for Eva when Daniel found her and you could tell how upset she was at everything she lost. She was adamant that she could never love him and kept doing and saying whatever she could in hopes that Daniel would let her go back to her old life. I truly hated Daniel for most of the book. He was so cruel and truly wanted to break Eva for breaking his heart and humiliating him in front of everyone. I did feel bad for him with what went down on their wedding day but I think he went about things wrong considering how much he did care about her. There was so much tension between Eva and Daniel and I think that there was a base of love somewhere in it but there was so much hatred present that it really got in the way of everything. Every time it appeared that Eva was making progress with Daniel, he would end up putting up his walls even higher and making Eva feel worse than she had before. It was interesting where some of Daniel’s hatred of Eva and her father was coming from. I really wanted more on that as I had no idea what was so damaging. There were events towards the end where everything came to a huge moment and things were revealed and I was shocked at everything. I was so surprised at Daniel’s actions at the end of it as we finally saw Daniel’s heart peeking through and knowing everything he gave up. The end was really good and I was happy how everything finally and slowly came together although I was definitely shocked over the letter Eva wrote! By Rebecca

This is the first book that I've read by this author and it was absolutely fantastic you literally could not take your eyes from the pages, it complete;y hooked you on and didn't let you go until you have finished the whole book. It is totally like the title says, it's havoc for this character you will be desperate to see how everything plays out until the end.
Eva's father made her marry a man that she didn't want to marry and she felt like there was nothing she could do. Her father was a terrible man and she had no choice. Everyone in town where Eva lives just thinks that she is some kind of spoiled brat which could be further from the truth. When Eva made a new life for herself and was happy and when years later when she seen him again her life blew up in the air. ( NO SPOLIERS).
This books has twists and turns and will have you loving it. This book has love and hate, lies and secrets and pain and dark moments too, it will have your emotions up and down and you really feel for the character. I really enjoyed reading this book and I was hooked right from the beginning. I think its always fantastic when an author can make you feel while reading their books and this is exactly what this dark romance does. This book deserves all of its five stars it was awesome and I will definitely recommend this book to everyone when it gets released because its a real must read.

TO ALL MY HEA, DARK ROMANCE, ALPHA HERO, EMOTIONAL BOOK WH*R*S! 😍❤️🙌🏻
Havoc by SS Richards ARC reads
4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely devoured this book within hours (I know, I’m a book wh*r* too🙈😭). Anyways, from the beginning of the book, SS Richards throws us straight in the deep end and I SUNK!!! Every page I turned I wanted to know more, I needed to know why Eva was running away from Daniel!!! And SS Richards did not disappoint...
So Eva, was the heroine of this story and I genuinely felt like a therapist at points (I know, I’m crazy) you know when you wish a character would just be truthful and reveal everything...but they don’t??? This was Eva she was so secretive and held all of her cards close to her chest!! It was killing me slowly and I live for it!!! I guess I’m a glutton for punishment 😱💃 Meanwhile, Daniel, the hero of this story, of course super duper, every women’s dream type of sexy!! He was doing the same thing and it was honestly so stressful. I felt every emotion in this read!!! It broke my heart; the lies, the betrayal, the pain, the hurt, the love... Absolutely everything!
Without revealing spoilers; I gave this read 4 stars instead of 5 because I felt like Daniel and Eva’s story should have been longer (is it greedy to want more??) I needed Daniel to suffer for longer and I don’t feel like he did. Anyways, I recommend this book to my fellow drama devourists 😱😱😱(I made up a word).
When I started this book I was excited because of the dark element that was explored in the book. It had lots of twists in the storyline which was really good and that had me turning the pages for more.
I did feel that some important part of the story was missing, so I never felt that I really connected with the characters of Daniel and Eva the way I would have liked. Daniel was an aggressive, cruel character and seeing as he supposedly loved Eva so much his temper and cruelty didn't seem right to me.
Eva, although a strong lady, who knew exactly what she wanted from life, constantly gave me whiplash, because of her "I hate him but I love him" moments. I just wanted some sort of direction for them to go in but for me, this story was all over the place emotionally, which made it difficult for me to follow.
I do think if the characters could have been explored from their earlier time together when they were younger it would have given me much more insight into their personalities. However, as it stands it lacked depth which just left me wanting more.
This book is predominately about revenge, but also love, hate and guilt played its part. This story had all the elements for an excellent story in the making but for me personally it just never fully materialised.

Let me just start by saying anything S.S. Richards writes is amazing! I read Havoc in one sitting, it's dark and suspenseful. It also has two killer combinations to make a perfect dark romance; A: hate & love B: desire & passion. This story was well written with a great storyline. Characters were fully developed even the secondary characters. Emotions ran high between these two characters starting with hate, disgust, desire, lust, and love.
Daniel and Eva's story started when they were young kids, their fathers were friends. Daniel; well he always wanted her but Eva; she never gave him a chance. There's a reason (drum roll please) nah just kidding I ain't going to spoil it. Eva married Daniel some would say against her will; and she disappeared the same day.... 3 years later in broad daylight he finds her in the middle of the life she created for herself. He says "Grab your s***, wife. We're going home." Daniel wants, no needs answers. Eva wants her life back. You must read this 5 star book to find out how Daniel creates Havoc to get his answers. Does love win in the end? Or will the hatred tear them apart
This started off promising, the first two chapters captured my attention.
And then it all became redundant. It literally felt like I was reading the same lines over and over... yea the author would reframe. But it was the same lines again and again. This could’ve been a great 50 page short story. Because it was pages after pages of words that really didn’t provide any depth.
At the conclusion none of it made sense. The reasoning for the “hate” was anticlimactic. The “havoc” never came. And what was supposed to be an alpha male, sounded more like a love sick puppy with not an ounce of sternness in his pinky.
Actually they both sounded like children. Reading the scenes felt like watching a video that kept buffering and once it started playing- it felt like you missed some words. The context just wasn’t there.
And apparently Dean Walker’s book is next. Yea I don’t care. There was nothing hear that made me interested in learning anything further about that character.
I was highly disappointed. Really, for this was less than one 1 star read.
Daniel and Eva are two broken people who love each other so much and have for so long but are both scared. Eva is holding a secret she won’t tell and it makes her feel like she shouldn’t love Daniel. Eva’s rejection breaks Daniel and turns him into a monster. And a monster he is. He is ruthless and even evil in some parts. There were times I wanted to shake Eva and make her tell Daniel how she feels so Eva wouldn’t have to endure all she did but the way that Ms. Richards unravels their story couldn’t have been done any better. It had to happen the way it did for the ending to be so perfect. Some parts were hard to read and my heart broke at the way they treated each other at times. But the way they finally found their way back to each other pieced my heart back together again. Their love story is definitely unconventional but it is theirs and fits them perfectly. I loved the ending and I hope to see more of them in Ruthless.
Havoc was a story which still has me conflicted to be honest. See, I couldn't put it down for anything at the end of the day because the secrets & lies make for some big time f-bomb worthy twists & turns that is my happy place. However, Eva cried to much for me to want to have her back 100% of the time, and I know that's a silly reason, but I'm not a crier so heroines who are criers definitely irritate me. Daniel was all about revenge, and took it out on Eva, so I wasn't a big fan of his for the majority of this book. Both of them were hiding things from the other, and if they had just named names & given details, maybe just maybe some of the things wouldn't have happened that seriously had me pissy. Again, I couldn't put Havoc down though, so bravo S.S. Richards for that, as I would have missed out if I had put it down. Now, it's your turn to hit those one click buttons to decide for yourselves! Despite my opinions on the negative spectrum, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This was my first read by the author, and while I did like some of the book, I didn't altogether love it the way I was hoping I would.
Eva has been promised to marry Daniel by her father, but she absolutely cannot stand him and on the eve of their wedding day, and runs away. Fast forward a few years and Daniel has caught up to her, all the while vowing to make her pay for all the wrongs she and her father have done to him.
I thought Daniel was just too over the top with his treatment with Eva. There were some scenes that were flat out abuse, so I spent half the time skimming the pages. Plus Eva's crying got on my nerves within the first few chapters. I never once felt a connection at all between the two of them, and Evas reasoning for hating Daniel was very lackluster.
This just wasn't for me, but I will try this author again in the future!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!
I have to say, reading Sam’s dark Mafia romance got me back into reading dark romances. So when I read the blurb for this one, I am sooo excited to get my hands on it.
It did take me a little to get into it, but once I did, I was hooked and didn’t want to stop. All the mystery behind the way that Daniel acts towards Eva. The reasons why Eva hates Daniel so much and why she ran away in the first place.
The deeper you get into the story, the more intense it gets between them. I may have not understood the reasons for the way Daniel treats Eva, it took me sometime to get my head around it. But you couldn’t deny that there was something special between them. Their love story might have been your typical love story but that’s what I loved. It was who they were.
This is the first book by S.S. Richards. Honestly, I am not sure how I felt about this book. It didn’t really do it for me. Daniel and Eva have a very twisted relationship. She was forced to marry him by her father and ran. Now years later he has found her and is forcing her to come back to him. Daniel wanted Eva and figured he could have her because of the life they grew up in. Eva like Daniel but didn’t like that he thought that meant he could just force her to marry him instead of dating her and letting her make that decision. I finished the book and it was interesting but I am torn about how I feel about the book. Eva and Daniel like each other but they don’t know how to show it in a good way. Honestly, I am not sure if I will try one of her other books. This is just my opinion about the book. You may love it. If you think you will like it give it a try.
This is my first book by this author. S.S. Richards. At the beginning chapter of this book was confusing, even after the first couple of chapters it was difficult to understand the plot the author went from Eva pleading with her father not to marry Daniel to her deciding to run away the author never explain why she hated Daniel so much and treated him so horrible when all he's ever done is love her. The way her father treated her he sold her to Daniel a man she ask her dad not to make her marry even threaten to kill herself and we're to believe she just forgive him just like that saying that once you get into the rest of the book its really a good read, I love the way Daniel loves Eva.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Holy hell this was amazing. I sat down this morning, and read the entire book within 2 hours. I was captivated within the first chapter, and I needed to know how it ended. There's something that's always drawn me into dark romances. Add in a little revenge, and you have a book that I honestly can't put down. Daniel and Eve's story is one that I'll never forget.
Eve is promised to Daniel. She hates him. She wants nothing to do with him. So, she runs away and changes her identity. Daniel finds her, and wants to punish her for hurting him. With so many secrets and lies will they be able to put the past behind them and forgive each other?
This is a must for anyone who loves dark romances. It's fast pace, steamy, and full of secrets. S.S. Richard is a fantastic writer, and I can't wait to see what else this author will come up with.
I LOVE dark romances, they are definitely one of my favorites to read and though I have not read SS Richards prior to reading Havoc, I was very impressed with this book. You definitely get the cruelty and angst in this book that I love reading.
I really enjoyed the story but would have liked a little more backstory on the characters. I was not able to fully connect with them, but it still was an enjoyable read. There is SO MUCH drama and angst in this book. Talk about all of the lies and pain, y'all!! All in all, I liked reading this but would have liked just a bit more. I give this 4 outta 5 stars!
PS: Thank you to SS Richards and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.
I have been drawn into the world of Dark Romances and sometimes I find good ones…and sometimes bad, Havoc however is a good one! Even though it felt a bit lackey on being “dark” it still hit the spot. I truly enjoyed reading Eve and Daniel’s story and fell in love with it and them instantly.
Such good writing by S.S. Richards! There is only one thing that I truly wish this book had…more backstory, just more of a look into them I guess. It just felt like it needed more content for me. But like I said, it was still amazing and I can’t wait to read more from the author!
* I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.*
This is going to be short. For the most part I kind of liked the story as the writing was fine, there were couple of twists, couple of intense moments and steamy scenes. I got curious about the authors other books for characters mentioned in this one. The last half of the book was better than the beginning. So, I guess that’s kind of it.
We had arranged marriage and love-to-hate tropes, which are my favourite, but sadly they didn’t provide the intense emotional experience that I would have loved to have.
“One day, you’ll be mine forever. Whether you like it or not.”
Negatives:
Now let’s take a look at the main problem which was Eve, so I kind of hated the female MC. She was annoying, a bit of a crybaby and her reason for hating the guy was one of the most stupidest things I have ever read. She just created an unnecessary drama.
The male MC – Daniel, was more or less OK, just less alpha than I’m used to having in dark romances. So at the end I wasn’t a big fan of either of our main characters, I didn’t care for them and didn’t emotionally connect with them or their relationship.
In the first half of the book nothing really happens at all. I didn’t care about anything and anyone as I was just annoyed and bored. There was no real angst or banter as it’s usually with good hate-to-love stories. There was no real intensity or suspense or heart-ache as it’s suppose to be with dark romantic suspense novels.
Dark romances usually takes you on an emotional roller-coaster ride with so many feelings that it makes you dizzy, however, this one didn’t make me fell anything at all for the most part of the book, just the last 50% was a little bit more emotional, but not enough to make me really care for this couple as Eva kind off destroyed it all for me.
Another issue I had was the size of the novel as it was on the short side (only 151 pages), so maybe that as well affected my enjoyment of this book as there was no time for me to really get attached to the characters or care about anything.
Overall
Around half way trough the story picked up a bit and was kind of fine, but the main characters, especially, Eve. She just annoyed me too much. Sadly, Eve destroyed this book for me. At the end I was disappointed as I expected so much more from this novel, however, it wasn’t the worst book out there, as I liked it enough to give it 3 stars, it had its moments at times.
"I’m not losing this time. I promised myself that no matter what happens, I’m not letting her win. There’s only one way this marriage will end – till death do us apart."
Havoc by S. S. Richards is a stand-alone dark romance that is faced paced and full of revenge.
Eva had spent the last three years running and hiding from the man she was promised too. She has built a life for herself until one day, he shows up in the middle of the day at her work.
Daniel is dark, controlling, domineering and out to seek revenge. Eva’s going to pay for not only running away but for her father’s sins.
For me I found this story little too fast paced and I had trouble connecting with the characters. However with that being said, I can see how this story would appeal to other readers.
*Thank you to both S. S. Richards and Give Me Books Promotions for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
Loved this book!!! Throw in some Dark Mafia, an arranged marriage and i'm set!
There was so much hate and angst in this book, it was awesome! And by the end, you were gunning for them to find a HEA. But so much stuff just stood in there way and at times you thought they would never get there. Eva finds out theres something fishy with Daniel and also with her Father. But when it all comes to ahead, the truth finally comes out.
I loved this book. I feel like there could have been a bit more of a prologue as i felt there was more to the story at the beginning and the book picked up around the middle. But either way, i found it was an awesome read!!!
Havoc by S.S. Richards is the story of Daniel and Eva. Daniel and Eva knew each other somewhat when they were younger as their family we connected. But Eva's father gave to Daniel to marry which of course Eva was upset about. Daniel has always wanted Eva but on their wedding day she disappeared. Eva tried to start a new life away from her past but just a few years into it Daniel finds her. Both have their secrets and neither are letting them go. This was a dark read with Daniel not be so gentle with Eva at times but overall I enjoyed their story and hope to read more from this author.
Now THAT's how you start a book. The first chapter definitely gripped me and kept me reading until the very end in one seating. I couldn't get enough of the angst, the drama, the passion and all the questions burning inside my head of how things got this bad.
The book is dark and definitely not something you'd classify as a love story. At least, not in its standard meaning. A must-read for fans of dark romance.
