Jinx is a US Marshall and is trying to uncover her past and kidnapping a criminal may be the only way to do it. She didn’t expect Jed to take the place of the man she wanted to kidnap. Sparks fly between them and Jed only wants to keep Jinx safe from herself. Can it do it? This is a fast-paced read with lots of drama, action and suspense. Great characters with steamy chemistry and a story that really draws you in. I liked it.

THE FORBIDDEN CLAIM is the story of a seedy underworld and how it affects different people's lives and how those lives can become intertwined with one another.

Jinx Collins is a US Marshall who finds herself involved in a human trafficking ring almost by accident. Jed Kane is fully immersed in the world of human trafficking and he is there completely by choice. Jed has been working undercover for an unknown agency for years trying to rescue some of the victims of human trafficking. When Jed and Jinx cross paths, they discover that they share a dark past. What they need to discover is if that past will keep them from also sharing a future.

This story and its characters were told in depth and with great emotion. The weaving of the plot to include the past and the present was done very well. The author did a great job of portraying the emotions that a past trauma can cause, and how those emotions can affect every aspect of your life well past the time of the trauma.

The story also explores the emotions that are associated with making tough choices that don't always result in a happy ending. Jinx has to deal with the struggle of not remembering her past but knowing there were important people and events that have shaped her. Jed has to deal with his work and the secrets he keeps, making him feel like he is not deserving of happiness. Together, they uncover some of the secrets shrouding both of their pasts and work to recover from the emotional damage that has been experienced.

The story was mysterious, steamy, and fast-paced. I enjoyed both the plot and the characters. The author wrote about the good and the bad and did not try to sugarcoat or downplay the darkness of human trafficking. Great read.

In my opinion, this is the weakest of the 5 books. However, it wraps up the series, and there are some really good scenes, so I wasn't disappointed overall.

This has the most whiny, angsty of all the women in the series. Plus it repeatedly blurs the lines between deception, omission, and lying. Some of the sex scenes were fun, especially when the handcuffs came out.

By the end of the story, the whole gang gets together to defeat the bad guys and enjoy the sunset. I wanted a bit more from an epilogue, but this story and series are complete.

I received an ebook copy of this book for free in a giveaway.

He squeezed her arm so tightly Jinx could feel the blood vessels breaking, and the pain in her lip shifted to the instant bruise. “I don’t want to see that. You think I give a flying fuck about some girl in a picture?”
“But you might know her,” she argued.
“I’m not sure Aztec even sent you to me, or what game you're playing.” His gaze dropped to her chest. “And you may be a little too old for my liking, but perhaps we can come up with a use for that mouth of yours.” Pay attention. She's arguing with a man who sells and abuses children. And she thinks he's going to care about whoever is in the picture she's showing him. Oh, and the kicker? A murderer sent her to this guy. How do you trust a murderer to send you to someone for information? Jinx is not the brightest bulb. Seriously. And if Jed hadn't gotten there (again) she would have been in even more serious trouble.

“I want you with her every second of the day,” Lucy declared. “While she’s at work, at home, everywhere.”
Jinx really didn’t like the sound of that, and from the look on Jed’s face, he wasn’t thrilled either.
His smile became a snicker. “Are you sure about that, Lucy?”
Lucy narrowed her eyes at him. “Yes, I’m sure.”
“Fine,” he grumbled,
This happened literally the second after he told Jinx she was never going to see him again. Jed makes all these promises to himself to stay away from Jinx and he can never stick to his guns; "and I know you're thinking, yeah that's because they have a connection" but he doesn't even try. He puts up no fight, at all. It feels like the second the author tries to add some angst or suspense to the story she gets bored with it and immediately changes her mind. There's also the fact that, as a US Marshal Jinx should have figured out who she was a long time ago. She doesn't act like someone who's well trained (other than the one time she managed to get away from Jed) or knows what she's doing. How did it never occur to her the danger she would be in trying to kidnap Aztec? He's such a well known criminal and murderer she should have expected it to be a little difficult. And she's shocked when the guy who kidnapped her (who happens to sell children) slaps her around. It feels like the sole reason she's a Marshal is so the author can add another reason for Jed to stay away from her. She's also not very cautious. I've gotten used to reading books where women can usually save themselves (I read a lot of urban fantasy and paranormals) but Jinx is such a damsel-in-distress. Sometimes the words they use sound wrong too. Like this coming from Jed "Surely she’s not stopping me now!" It just doesn't really seem like the way a big badass like him would express frustration. And, seriously, all those years she never questioned why she had to wear contacts? The ending, the revelation, just kinda felt forced. None of it makes sense as to why she wouldn't remember any of it. Also, this from Fin "Yes, Jed. You are my son." It came in a letter. This big ass revelation and it just felt so nonchalant. I think that mostly sums up the things I didn't like about this book.
I did like Jed and his story though, it took me a bit to figure out that the boy's narration was Jed when he was younger. Jed as a character is pretty awesome, a lot of the things you'd want in a dominant male. Lucy and Jinx felt very one dimensional. They didn't feel real to me, not like Jed did. Jed seems to fly off the page with his moods, expressions and actions while Jinx feels bland not matter how feisty she is. The sex scenes were great though, definitely worth the anticipation and the story itself is pretty interesting and will keep you interested all the way through. You'll definitely want to read this book all the way through. Given all the cons I listed above you'd think I hated this book, but I didn't. If you can ignore some of the way things are phrased and a few scenes that feel unnatural or forced (and how dumb Jinx can be) you'll actually enjoy this book. The ending particularly is sweet.

Alyn's review posted on Guilty Pleasures

“I am completely floored by this book and could not take my eyes away from the pages once I started. This Forbidden Claim is a suspenseful and erotic story with moments that will grab your heart and squeeze it so tight you won’t be able to breath.

Jed Kane is an undercover agent deep within a world filled with the horrors of human trafficking. It is his mission in life to take down every one of the rings buying and selling humans and he carries each loss deep within him. When he is finally getting close to the person in charge of his latest operation, he hits a bump along the way. Dressed as the very man he despises, he is hoping to catch the ring leader but instead he is captured by a sexy young woman determined to get answers.

Jinx Collins finally found him! The man in the picture; Aztec. A known dealer in the business of trafficking humans, she knows he is evil. But that is not why she wanted to speak with him. She wants to know who the girl in the picture is. She knows her from somewhere, and realizes that the woman may be the only connection she has to a past that she can’t remember. When she finally gets the handcuffed Aztec to a safe place to talk, she realizes that all is not as it seems. The man is a decoy. A gorgeous decoy that she can’t take her eyes off of and there is a connection between them that she just can’t deny.

When Jed turns the tables on Jinx, he thinks he has everything going his way. But when she escapes his efforts, he swears they will meet again. He has to know why she is looking for the girl in the picture. The girl that he has been hiding for years. What is the connection between them? And why after he promised himself he would never get involved with a woman, did not deserve to ever love a woman, was he willing to risk everything for Jinx Collins.

I was blown away by the complexity of the characters in this story. Both Jinx and Jed have very difficult pasts. Jinx was in the foster system but can’t seem to remember much before her sixth year. Her parents made her feel unwanted and she barely ever speaks to them. She wants desperately to figure out her past, and who the girl from her memories is and will do just about anything to find out. As she follows the clues from her past, and some from the present the answers to her questions, become closer than she realizes.

Jed’s past reveals itself slowly throughout the story. He is a tortured soul with an angry heart. He is attracted to Jinx more than he should allow himself to be and is afraid that he will lose control. He wants to claim her as his and own her in every way possible. This is painful for him because he believes that no person should be owned in any sense and he hates himself for his feelings. What he doesn’t realize, is that perhaps Jinx wants him to own her heart and soul, if he would only allow himself to try.

The scenes between Jinx and Jed are powerful and erotic. The electricity sparks heavily when the two get intimate and every time Jed decides he doesn’t deserve the pleasure it is simply agonizing (you might want to beat him over the head a few times for leaving a girl hanging). But oh their moments together are nothing less than awe inspiring and when they are tender, they will make you melt.

Within the story, we also meet a young boy that is being held captive deep in the basement of one of the stash houses. He has been beaten, starved, and forced to do unspeakable things (none of which are actually described). His one redemption; he tells stories to help the other children hold on to hope that one day they will be saved. Your heart will break for him throughout the story and tears will fall for him as his story comes full circle.

This is an absolute must read!!! Like, stop what you are doing and go get it now! It is not just a steamy romance (though it does get steamy) but a thrilling, suspenseful, story of hope that will pull your emotions in every direction.

I don’t mind a good Romantic Suspense, so I put my hand up to review this title, little did I know I was going to find a seriously sexy title landing in my inbox!

US Marshall Jinx Collins is an outspoken, free-spirited, and fearless woman. It’s that same fearlessness, however, that tends to get her into trouble. Jinx has lots of questions about her life including the man who could be her the key to her past.

Jed Kane has worked undercover in the human trafficking ring for years. When Jed accepts a job to disguise himself as one of his worst enemies and take a ride from the correctional facility to a secured location, he certainly had not planned on being abducted by Jinx Collins.

There was nothing about the relationship that did not immediately explode into life. From the first encounter of Jinx and Jed we were left in no doubt that this couple would be ending up together by the end of the book. The interludes are regular and very very hot. So make sure you wear oven mits when reading the intimate scenes!

There was a range of themes contained throughout the story, including assumed identities, abducted children, reunited sibling, well you get the idea, anyway. I did think the suspense came very secondary to the character/couple development throughout the book, which is a shame, because I do think it would have strengthened the tale a little and by the end I was a little let down that it really felt almost unfinished. I ended up asking myself if there will be a follow on book?

Verdict: At the end of the day, it is an erotic tale that should leave you warmed on the inside. I would suggest it for those looking for a weekend or holiday read with the added benefit of a little naughty pleasure.

Drew and Bree are so hot for each other that it is quite amazing the Lothario hasn’t gone up in flames. They are both working for alphabet agencies, but Bree doesn’t know Drew has signed back on with the DIA. While the FBI is looking for a wanted man, putting Bree on the case, the DIA knows the bad guy is actually involved with terrorists and dirty bombs, too. Therefore, Drew is supposed to be watching Bree, and working his cover job as a security expert for the owners of the Lust Boat – all while trying to get Bree back in his bed, permanently. Bree has other ideas and doesn’t want her heart to be broken when she moves on after this assignment is complete.

Two volatile tempers, two sexy-as-sin characters, one time bomb waiting to blow. Roz Lee has written another intriguing story revolving around the floating x-rated version of the Love Boat. The story has a few typos, but overall it was well written, sexy and fun. I can’t wait to visit the island paradise that is under construction on Ryan’s little island!

Interesting plotline and lots of heat!

The story is fun because Jinx is irrational and reckless! However, she is supposed to be a professional law enforcement officer with the US Marshalls service! Jed is a covert rescuer from a vague agency who is always rude, gruff and bossy! I personally disliked them both!
While the central premise of the story is the trafficing of children, Kelly Gendron does an exceptional job of avoiding the details of events! The reader knows it happened, but it is not presented emotionally or in your face kind of way! Certainly a disturbing topic, but no triggers I could experience provoked any anxiety!
Jinx and Jed finally pull there angst driven fears from there protected hearts, but it happens in a page or two! The ending while nice seemed unrealistic! 3.5 stars rounded up! There were some genuinely amusing moments and crazy antics!

Awesome. I dove into this story without knowing anything about it. I found myself pulled into a mystery as Jinx searches for a woman that might help unlock who she is. What she finds is a belligerent, sexy Jed that pushes all her buttons. Jed has committed his life to stopping human trafficking and the things he has done on this mission has him believing he isn’t worthy of love. Running into Jinx is a definite bump in his road that he can’t seem to shake. I love the passion that Jed and Jinx bring to their careers which carries over to their incredible attraction. There are great twists and turns in this journey that gave me all the anxiety and feels as I devoured every page. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Action right from the first page, I could not put the book down. Jed, an undercover agent and Jinx, a US Marshall meet in very interesting circumstances.

Little do they know, they have been helping each other since before they can remember. The things that go on around us are so horrible, they are both trying to help in their own way. The chemistry between them is just off the charts.

I loved the storyline, the characters were so vivid, it just draws in, I just could not put the book down because I was anxious to find out how it would end. I was so emotional when we finally got through the end of their story, and just had a big happy sigh when I turned the last page.

A suspenseful, erotic romance which hooks the reader from the beginning!

The characters were well developed and conveyed a depth of emotion. I absolutely loved the way the story was told. There was mystery and trauma.

US Marshall Jinx Collins is an opinionated, free-spirited, and courageous woman. This however has also led her to troublesome situations. Jed Kane has worked undercover in the human trafficking ring for years. Jed did not expect to be abducted during an undercover operation.

The initial explosive attraction between Jinx and Jed and the hot chemistry had the reader rooting for them from the beginning.

Overall, an enjoyable read, one I was not expecting.

This is a inspiring story about child sex trafficking. Tough subject that may trigger some people. Jinx is trying to figure out her past. As a U.S. Marshal, she makes some very stupid decisions throughout the entire book. She puts her life in jeopardy. Although she doesn't know how Jed fits into the picture, she's deeply attracted to him. Jed is just trying to help as many children as he can. Although he fights his demons, and considers himself a bad person, Jinx sees something special in him. I love her assertive personality that gives Jed a run for his money! Both are very strong characters that have something in common. Great story that I highly recommend.

The Forbidden Claim😱

Wow, this book was amazing❣️You have two characters that are both badass and a compelling storyline which draws you in from the very first chapter😁

Jed is working undercover to bring down human trafficking rings when he suddenly finds himself kidnapped by Jinx.....but not everything is as it seems and as you read and secrets are revealed, much like me I think you’ll find your mind is blown🧨 Some very unexpected revelations in this story but I absolutely loved these characters and wouldn’t mind Lucy finding herself in a spin off story😜

Thank you to Kelly for my advanced copy for which I willingly leave my honest review❤️

I can't remember reading a more suspenseful romance. So many shocking moments. Pasts slowly revealed. Terrible crimes that continue even after the "leader" is behind bars. Even the ending was a jaw dropping moment. This book was addictive. I couldn't wait to discover what secrets were buried within the pages.

Jinx is searching for her past. So many pieces don't fit. She is getting desperate to find the little girl in a picture she found. He actions brings her into contact with Jed Zayne. He is someone he doesn't trust. When they cross paths again and again she slowly discovers the man beneath the mask as they work together.

Not For Me

I'm sure this isn't the popular opinion but I have to be honest and this story just wasn't my favorite or this authors. Typically I'm not someone who nitpicks but I just have to say that I'm relieved this story is fiction because if there is any truth to this story it's that Jinx is a terrible US Marshal. Seriously that part of the story should have been a joke or even a dream because her portrayal of anyone in any branch of the justice department is embarrassing and laughable. I never had a good feel for the tone of this story and considering the sensitive content, I wouldn't think that would be in question. Just wasn't for me.

This book is exceptionally well written, the plot is dark, well thought out and revolves around child trafficking and the horrors and emotions surrounding this crime. What takes away from the book is that both the main characters are weak and I really did not feel that they had the depth, growth or emotions to give such an emotionally charged topic justice. If the main characters were stronger, better developed this would be a 5 star book through out.

The prey became the predator. I liked the chemistry that Kelly Gendron portrayed in the story between Jed and Jinx. The subject matter kept me reading into the late night, just could not put it down. Every new piece of information just gave you more questions. There were happy moments in the book. Lots of action and twists. What a great book. The ending was very good.

Jinx is an US Marshall looking for a woman from her past. Jed is a mysterious man that knows how to find her and Jinx is extremely attracted to, but she doesn’t know if he’s into bad things or not. The interesting and intriguing romance between Jinx and Jed is full of danger, intrigue, painful pasts and a love that is hard to accept. Good read

I really enjoyed the storyline of this book.

Jinx abducts Jed to try to get information about a woman she thinks can help her with her past. At least I think that's the premise of the story. A lot happens and the overall story of stopping human trafficking is good, but it goes in different directions at times and doesn't seem to flow as well as it could.

Overall, the story is good, but I wish it could have been more cohesive.

I enjoyed the instant attraction between US Marshal Jinx and Jed. This is a suspenseful story with hot chemistry between the two main characters. I originally read this story about 5 years ago, and it's set up with a suspenseful story. Which is still very relevant today as when I first read it considering all that keeps hitting the news of children trafficking. Which may be a trigger for some, even though implications are there no great details are shared if this helps.

Jinx Collins & Jed Zayne.

Jinx is a Federal Marshall going rogue in an attempt to find someone from her barely remembered past.

Jed is a deep undercover sex trafficker answering only to his FBI contact.

Lots of sparks and one-up-man-ship between two goal driven individuals.

This book had me hooked from the first paragraph! I loved both the main characters and what they each brought to the story. The constant ups and down gave it so much chemistry! I found I could not get enough of this story.

Jinx is trying to solve the mystery of her past, going only by a picture and a memory in her head she must do whatever it takes to get her answers. Being a U.S. Marshall, she is skilled and strong minded, but sometimes she just does not think before she reacts. In fact it is the non-filter that lands her in some serious hot water throughout the story. Once she meets Jed Kane the man she kidnapped by mistake, Jinx is willing to throw everything away to capture more than just the man.

Jed Kane has done such horrible things in his pursuit for the better good; he does not think he is anything other than a bad man, incapable of love. When he first meets Jinx he can’t help but rethink his whole outlook. Why did she kidnap him and why is she so interested in the murderer he pretended to be. Jed does not like what she does to him in more ways than one, but he can’t help but keep coming back for more. Wanting so badly to own her, something he knows is so wrong in his world, he does everything to keep his little lady at bay.

Throughout the story we also get the story of a young boy locked away as a human prisoner in the world of human trafficking. We get to hear his fears and acceptance of no longer being human. He no longer even goes by a name, just Boy, his minds way of coping of the situation he is in. You feel for him and hope he is saved before it is too late. Unlocking who he is and what he does for others like him was not only a shocking story, but a tender one as well.

This story was so good, a consent page turner. I loved the tension between Jed and Jinx, and I loved the way they both fought to top the other. I love how they both want to keep who they are secret to save each other from pain of their pasts. There was a great mystery needing to be solved as you progress through the book, and I could not wait to get my answers, and when they came out, my mouth was on the floor. If you love a drama filled book with great chemistry and budding love this one is for you!

5 out of 5 stars!
