WoW!…And I do mean…OMG…WoW…
This is my first read of Sybil Bartel and it most certainly won’t be my last. OMG…if I knew this author can write so HOT I wouldn’t wait this long to read some of her’s books. I couldn’t put this book down.
The story starts with our hero, Jared… Ex-Marine, a hot and sexy guy, with light brown eyes and dirty blond hair, who for the last three years works as a male escort. He doesn’t do this for the money but he makes it because he enjoys the control. He’s a dominant alpha. He doesn’t involve himself in any emotional relationship, no strings.
He is rough, strong, blunt and aggressive.
And the ladies pay big money for him to be just like that. He comes, works you out and pretty damn good, then he gets his payment, and goes away, ..just like that. Ohhh…but how good he works….Mmm.
When Sienna enters into the picture, or should I say, enters into his business, when he has to work her…things change. He knows he should stay away from her but, he finds her irresistible and as much as he wants to stay away from her he’s more drawn to her.
Sienna is a preacher’s daughter, she’s the opposite of everything…
…and from the moment he meets her, he want’s her just because she looks innocent and pure. A sexy redhead with green eyes.

I really liked the story…and it was soo hot. I liked the intrigue, and the plot drew me to want to read the book.
I wanted more action and more suspense…but overall was a great story, a great reading and I will definitely read the next books in this series and other books by this author.

So, this book was HOT. I mean, I knew it had to be, a male escort romance, it had to be.
I'm not going to lie, starting in though, I felt overwhelmed by the hero's behavior—not in a good way.
Jared felt very one dimensional at first, 300% alpha asshole and I wasn't sure I was in the mood for the two things the story seemed it had to offer then: sex and domination.
I'm glad I stuck with the story though, what started as a pure insta lust/love meshed into something deeper with great chemistry on page between Sienna and Jared, I was a goner then.
Yes to his jealous possessive ways, yes to his roughness, yes to bossiness, just YES, Jared, yessss!
Ahem. Anyways
The subplot revolving around Sienna's workplace and family was all over the place but I didn't mind, it was the perfect prop for Jared to show off his alpha-possessive ways. He was all about protecting his woman, total swoonfest.
I wish the ending would have been less abrupt though, I felt robbed of all the building of trust and feelings between the characters.
I really enjoyed this one, I'm definitely tempted to check more by this author.

“You’ve been with a lot of women.”This is my second book by Sybil Bartel, the first being Thrust, the first in this series. Bartel is one scorching writer, let me tell you! I loved the relationship between Sienna and Jared; the exchanges from the beginning are priceless and left me with a huge grin on my face. Jared is also fantastic—so rough and hot and sweet and just delicious. We're introduced to him as being a rough, very-alpha, dominant guy, and don't get me wrong, he is, but I didn't necessarily find him more so than Alex, the hero of Book 1. Especially since some seem to have tagged this book "erotica" and "BDSM," I was expecting something along those lines, but there definitely isn't. [Upon a second reading, I do see the difference between him and Alex, and understand the more dominant aspect of his character, but still stand by the last comment.]
I didn’t deny it. I’d been with countless women, but none were her. “Enough to know what I want.”
She looked up at me. “Why me?”
I cupped her face and stroked her bottom lip with my thumb. “Because you make me nervous.”
Sienna is 24-years-old and pretty inexperienced sexually. She only lost her virginity a few months ago when she started dating someone at work (she's an assistant to a professional football coach and it was one of the players); he ended up being an asshole and cheating on her though, so she broke up with him. Two weeks ago she had her first encounter with Alex Vega, and when the book starts, she's supposed to see him again, but Alex's story in Thrust has started and he's going through his own love story, so unloads his evening's clients onto Jared.
From the beginning, from even their texts and first phone call, Jared knows this is something different and that she's not his usual routine; she's shy and innocent and in his mind, too good for him. He's a vet who has been escorting for three years; he doesn't do it for the money, but more as something to do; it gives him the opportunity to exercise control, which is something he really needs. He left the Marines with a Purple Heart, having been injured in an IED explosion that badly messed up his back for awhile. It also "knocked his head about" and made it so that he can't really read letters or numbers, though from the beginning it seems like there must be some underlying dyslexia issue that he's been struggling with (and that's the case).
As with Bartel's other book, the relationship between Sienna and Jared starts up hot and burns quickly and brightly from the beginning. You have to suspend belief a little, but whatever, it's totally worth it. There's an instant connection between the two, and I just go with it. Mind you, I'm normally someone who doesn't like insta-lust books, but Bartel seems to be the exception for me lol. She does a fantastic job of making it seem like from the beginning, there's some type of deeper, elemental connection.

A few months ago I stumbled across Thrust. I admit that the blurb almost kept me from buying it. I'm glad I took a chance because it turned out to be a really good book. Rough is book #2 in that series.
Like Alex in Thrust, Jared is a high-priced escort. While Alex (before he found love with Olivia) liked it slow and steady with his clients, Jared wants it hard and rough. Women are willing to pay A LOT of money for a few hours of hard and rough in his bed. Everything changes when Jared agrees to take on some of Alex's clients, one of which is Sienna.
Jared is not prepared for the innocent Sienna. Oh, he still wants to control her in bed, but he also wants to protect her outside of it.
I didn't like it as much as the first book but I did enjoy it. I just feel that Jared was way too alpha and inconsistent for me. I'm all about the rough sex but not when one of the characters is a total ass about it.
I've already started Grind, book #3 in the series.

This is the second book in the Thrust series, featuring sexy former Marines who've decided to work out their PTSD and war-time aggressions using no-strings-attached sex. They just happen to get paid for all that sex.
In this book, Jared falls for the shy, untrusting, Sienna. He falls HARD, and it is so delicious to watch. His immediate attraction to her, his desperation to have her, his desire to own her... It was so sensual and amazing. There's just something about an alpha male falling for his woman...it makes the reader wet in all the right places (tears from the eyes and dew from the whooha).
Jared was perfect as the hero in this tale, if a little over-the-top aggressive. While it was great in the bedroom, his aggression everywhere else was too much, which was why he ended up in more trouble than if he'd just grunted and let things go.
Sienna was too easy. She should have made Jared work harder to get her. She just did everything he wanted, and it was boring. I love it when an alpha has to beg a scrape to show the woman he loves that she is his goddess. I could understand Sienna's jealousy regarding all the other woman Jared had sex with before. I would have a major problem walking around town, wondering who else had sex with my man, and worrying about running into his ex-lovers in public. How humiliating. Also, I didn't like how Sienna also had sex with Alex. Talk about awkward brunches with friends. Who do you get past having had sex with your man's best friend. For money.
All in all, this book was a fun, sexy, hawt read.

Omg ! This story was sexually explosive from the onset.What a page turner loved it from cover to cover and this was one major hot read !
I want more of Jared! I was sorry to see this story to end and what a cliffhanger! I can definitely tell this is going to be a series that I am going to love.I love the character's they were engaging and fun to read about.
My favorite character is going to have to be Jared.That guy was hot as sin,crude,was foul mouthed,dominate,rough dirty,sexual,had a temper that was explosive but, I could not help but love him.We saw a softer side to him when it came to is dealings with Sienna aka Red.Just hot as hell and new his way around a bedroom.Just sinful and deli -shes.
This read was fast paced,had secrets coming to life and betrayals at ever turn love,romance,great cast of characters making it one enticing read.
I love when you start off reading a story and you fall in love with the characters that you are reading about and this story did that for me.The story was gripping and hot! We loved it and we will definitely be picking up the other books in its series and we hope we are going to hear from Jared and Red again in later books.
Recommend read to all that love dirty talking bad boys that are hotter then hell in the sack and who fall hard when their time comes.First time author for us and we loved our first read by her.This story goes into the keeper pile!

Wow I am trying to cool down that was a hot read. Jared was one hunk of a man who was not expecting to meet a woman like Sienna. He was affected straight away, and started treating her different from the beginning. There is plenty of hot sex and some of the things he says to Sienna my god hot, the steam is still coming off my kindle.
This book is part of a series of standalone books with a connected group of ex-servicemen who have the left the service with a variety of problems and use sex to cope. A enjoyed the story, lots of intrigue, great sex with a hot man what else do you want? I’m looking forward to Danes story Grind coming soon, can’t wait

Not having read any other book by the author before, I was really impressed with the author's execution of the story and the feels that it gave me even after finishing the book. From the sexy cover to the intriguing synopsis, Rough will leave you wanting for more.
At the beginning of the story we get to meet Jared, the very good looking ex-marine whose current job is being a male escort. Though he doesn't care for the money that the job brings, he enjoys the need to control more. Even though he can have just about any women he would like, Jared doesn't do relationships. He stays away from them, but when he is called for a job he can't help but to be protective over his client. Her personality and beauty instantly attract him and he just can't keep himself away from her.
When Sienna first contacted her first male escort she thought she was doing the right thing, after breaking up with her ex boyfriend, she wanted to move on, and forget that he even existed. It is when she agreed to meet him again that completely she was surprised to find herself meeting a someone else, Jared. Their first meeting had a rough start, but their chemistry was undeniable, being opposites attracted them to each other. Sienna knows that Jared's job is to court her and make her feel like she is his would, but her fantasy could end up hurting her in the end. But no matter how much she wants to put a distance between them, the more attracted she feels towards him. There are things that they will have to get through if they want to future together, and that could change everything for the both of them.
I really enjoyed reading Rough, it was a sexy and quick story that had me reading until the very end. The chemistry between the characters is magnetic and had me rooting for them throughout the story. There are some differences that they have to solve before moving on, but even when they are total opposites they still manage to come back together in the end. You are going to love Jared, he is possessive and protective over Sienna which was both sexy and heartwarming. I do wish there was more action in the story, but it still has a good ending. I would highly recommend reading this book, and any other book by the author. I will most recently be reading more from the author in the future. :)

I enjoyed the book as a whole, but was a tiny bit disappointed with the ending. Just a smidge.
Jared was fantastic. Sienna was a sort of restrained badass that I appreciated.

this book was kind of disappointing. I thought Jared's character would be.. I don't know more hard to get? To me the insta love /insta attraction plot didn't really work well here and there was legit no actual development with the characters relationship. Throughout the book, Jared and Sienna just dealt with the football situation and they fighting their feelings. So I expected more from this book. Yet overall it wasn't a bad story just not what I was looking for.

I’ve read this book right after I finished the book Dangerous Rock and if you bessies have read my review about that book you’ll understand why I like this book almost immediately. Though Dangerous Rock have the same genre, they do not have the same feels. I didn’t feel anything in that book as compare to this one. The first encounter of the main characters already made me love them instantly!
I love just how possessive Jared towards Sienna. Like seriously. I like how alpha Jared is but there are times that he becomes alpha way too much. I don’t like it when he yell or roar to Sienna when he’s mad or pissed or something like that. I practically cringe whenever I read those parts. I think he’s the first alpha male I know where I didn’t love him wholly. Like there are really parts that I don’t like him but I still swoon over him. Is that weird?

Most of the times I like her. Haha! She’s a good heroine. A very good sunshine and control to Jared’s dark and uncontrollable personality. She is Jared’s kryptonite. 😀
This book is a fast paced romance book. And I could say that though it’s fast paced, I didn’t felt like it was fast. The book’s timeline is more or less a week but it didn’t felt like the story happened in just a week. It has very good narration and it’s in a first person point of view between Jared and Sienna. It was a good one because it’s easy to understand and picture out. It doesn’t have too much describing paragraph and the conversations where easy to catch on whose talking.
And the ending! Man! What kind of ending was that? Like really? That was the ending?
I honestly don’t think I like the ending. It was abrupt and totally unexpected. Like everything felt like it’s still building and then when I turn to the next page it already said ‘Thank you for reading Rough!’. Like wtf? (I seriously have a bad habit of saying words ‘like’ and ‘seriously’ and both. Lol!) I know there is still more to that ending! I know it! It wasn’t a proper ending, for me that is. I still need to know what happened to Jared and Sienna. I need to know.
To wrap this up, this book is awesome bessies. Really. It has a very interesting story and if you love alpha males then this one is perfect for you. I would highly recommend it. But if you don’t like books with so much cursing and alpha males with sex scenes then stay away from this!
I love just how possessive Jared towards Sienna. Like seriously. I like how alpha Jared is but there are times that he becomes alpha way too much. I don’t like it when he yell or roar to Sienna when he’s mad or pissed or something like that. I practically cringe whenever I read those parts. I think he’s the first alpha male I know where I didn’t love him wholly. Like there are really parts that I don’t like him but I still swoon over him. Is that weird?

beautify written. Felt like I was right there.
This story is about Jared and Sienna. It starts just after catching
her boyfriend cheating on her. And with of all things it is with one

Holy turn your panties to ash! I mean incinerate them right inside your pants. Ya know what just take them off before you read it will make it easier. Plus you may want to grab your partner and keep him close, there may be some frustration to work off while you are reading, YES it is that hot. Wow!!!! And I do mean Wow!!!!! Honestly I couldn't put this book down and it's been awhile since that has happen... seriously I started Monday afternoon and just finished. This is only my third book by Ms. Bartel and most definitely will not be my last. I absolutely Loved Jared she wrote him Perfectly...Strong, Sexy, Dominate and Slightly Flawed. Jared wasn't perfect but yet he was just perfect!! I loved how he fell hard for Sienna...she was innocent, headstrong and stubborn but Jared made her Strong-well and alive whenever she was with him and in more ways than one...this book was just Amazing!!!!! Can't wait to read Dane's story in June...Happy reading everyone!

Whoa!!! And I do mean WHOA!!!! I could not put this book down!!! This is only my third book I've read from Ms. Bartel but definitely not my last. I absolutely loved Jared! She wrote him perfectly. Strong, sexy, dominate...and slightly flawed. He wasn't perfect but yet he was just....perfect!!! I loved how he fell hard for Sienna. She was innocent, headstrong, stubborn but Jared made her strong-willed and come alive when she was with him....in more ways than one!! Amazing five star read!!!

To be honest after reading the first book in the series I expected Jared to be a little tougher especially in the bedroom scenes . That was what it says and when in his appearance in the last book that was what I understood . The last book was much better . This wasn’t bad but it just had some loose ends for me . Jared and Sierra didn’t have the same chemistry as some of the other couples . Not a bad read but when compared to Mrs. Bartel’s other works it was disappointing.

Oh boy. If you thought book one was hot, book two is scorching! Alex, Jared and Dane (book three) are all ex-marines who were involved in the same accident when their Humvee hit an IED. They’ve been home for three years and decided, for different reasons, to become escorts. Alex and Jared are in it for the insane amount of money they make and Dane is in it for the release he gets by having sex with different women.
The books have quite a bit of crossover, with the same characters popping up and the scenes being retold from each hero’s point of view, so it will flow better if you have read Alex’s book first. The three men organise their clients thusly: Alex takes the tame, vanilla ones who just want straight sex; Jared takes the ones who want it kinky and rough; and Dane takes the overflow and will do whatever. Unlike the other two, Dane won’t see the same woman twice.
When Alex finds himself wanting out of the game because of Olivia (in book one), he asks Jared to take on three clients he had booked for a Saturday night. Alex warns that one of the ladies is incredibly shy and that Jared needs to be gentle with her. Jared baulks, because he doesn’t do gentle, but he’s interested enough to set up the date because Alex said she’s young.
When Sienna Montclair turns up at Jared’s doorstep (he never gives out his address, but something about Sienna in their initial contact intrigued him) he’s floored. She’s incredibly young (twenty-four) and absolutely beautiful. He has to wonder why she’s booking an escort; she only saw Alex once.
Sienna works for one of the coaches of the Miami Dolphins, who also happens to be her uncle (although nobody knows that). She got involved with the star quarterback, a big no-no, and although she’s broken it off he won’t take no for an answer. He’s presented her with a ring she doesn’t want. He won’t leave her alone.
Jared wants Sienna badly, but she’s too innocent. She turns up with her red hair and her yellow sundress and he just knows she’s going to bring him to his knees. But something about her invokes his protective side, and as he gets to know Sienna, he wants to untangle the mess with the ex, Dan Ahlstrom. They get into a fight after Ahlstrom won’t stay away, and Jared’s training as a marine means Ahlstrom’s no match. Ahlstrom promptly sues Jared for damages to the tune of twenty-five million, but offers to drop the suit if Sienna goes back to him.
But Sienna doesn’t to. She’s drawn to Jared, even though she doesn’t think she should be. They come from vastly different backgrounds, but they’re intoxicated by each other and the amazing sex they have. Then something happens and Sienna finds out about a big secret her family never told her which threatens to destroy their relationship.
You know what happens in the end, of course – Sienna chooses Jared and he admits he’s in love with her. Everything is sorted out and he leaves the business, just as Alex did for Olivia. Another book that completely sucked me in 🙂

I can't believe that this is my first book by Sybil Bartel! Rough was so good and I couldn't put it down! When I read the blurb I knew I had to take a chance on this new to me author and I was hoping for the best. This one was such a nice surprise because it was everything I had hoped for and more. I am definitely going to have to check out Sybil's other books and I cannot wait to read more from her!
Jared a former Marine has spent the last three years working as a male escort. He doesn't do shy or sweet clients, preferring to keep his control and often times being on the rough side. But when his friend and fellow escort asks him to take a few clients for a night, he ends up meeting Sienna. Sienna having been hurt isn't looking for anything serious, which is why she hired an escort. But Jared is unlike Alex who she thought she was getting. Jared and Sienna can't deny the attraction between them though and things quickly become more complicated than escort and client.
I really liked these two together. They were so different and that was exactly why they worked so well with one another. The chemistry and attraction was there right from the start and these two were beyond hot! This was one seriously steamy story, and I couldn't get enough of Jared and Sienna. I did like that there was more to them though, and I felt their connection grew in a really genuine way here.
I will admit that there was a bit of drama that was at times on the unbelievable side, and the ending for me was pretty abrupt. Otherwise though, I really enjoyed this story and I am already looking forward to reading more from Sybil Bartel. This is the second book in her Thrust series and each book is a standalone. I can't wait to go back and read the first in the series and this is definitely one I would recommend if you are looking for a sexy alpha.

I loved Jared’s intense reaction to her – how much he wanted her, knowing he wasn’t good enough for her. His pure need and lust for her were thrilling! She was also an unexpected punch to his heart. He seemed to spend a lot of the book angry, as he struggled so much with his feelings. I adored his possessiveness and his strong need to protect her. I loved how well he could read her and just KNEW her.

Initially, Sienna came across as a bit of a pushover. She’s a natural submissive, but she’s got some solid backbone underneath it all. She was a balm to his soul and I loved how she made him smile.
I only recently discovered this author when I read Thrust (the first book in this series), and she’s fast becoming one of my favourites. Can’t wait to read more of her books.
