Without a ship to sail, the Straw Hats are grounded for good. Luckily, the inhabitants of Water Seven rally together to help them out to show their appreciation. But the crew will need to set sail quickly when Vice Admiral Garp comes after them. Luffy knows all too well that he won't stand a chance if this fearsome Navy officer catches him!
Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

It was so gooddd. Love this Water Seven arc so much!! It’s so much fun ,with all emotions.
How the stories go , the plots , the world of One piece, the characters are amazing! I had such a great time reading these volumes. What a great time before the end of the year. haaa. :)))
One Piece, Vol. 45 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next ten chapters (431–440) of the on-going manga series.
This tankōbon begins a new story arc. When they return to Water Seven, Cutty "Franky" Flam decides to build a new ship for the Straw Hats. As they wait for him to finish they are visited by a contingent of naval officers led by Monkey D. Garp – Monkey D. Luffy's grandfather. Though on opposing sides of the law, Garp only wants to spend some time with his grandson and leaves without confrontation.
Meanwhile, the Straw Hats learn that they have been blamed for the destruction of Enies Lobby and have bounties on their heads because of it. Since Franky is also subject to a bounty, he decides to join the Straw Hats after completing their ship, although they have to trick him into it by stealing his trunks. Usopp also officially rejoins the crew and they leave Water Seven.
After a brief scuffle with Garp, who is forced by his superiors to try to capture Luffy, the Straw Hats continue on to their next adventure. Elsewhere, Luffy's brother, Portgas D. Ace, finds Blackbeard, the man he has spent the entirety of the series looking for as the two are drawn into a battle.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part it is written and constructed rather well. It's a family affair – Monkey style! Resting after their ordeals on Enies Lobby, the Straw Hats' world is turned upside-down when they are blamed for Enies Lobby and have bounties on their heads and it forces Monkey D. Garp – Luffy's grandfather to hunt them down. Meanwhile, Luffy's brother, Portgas D. Ace finally tracks down Blackbeard as they engage in battle.
All in all, One Piece, Vol. 45 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
One cathartic payoff leftover here... plus great many big reveals, and some good comedy. Things are winding down and back to the business as usual.
It's always nice to see these things between arcs, how the rest of the world is doing. We've seen some of that before, ever since post-Alabasta, but I think this volume was the one to establish them as something to really look forward to.
I missed these guys, Oda's art still amazes me, so freaking good. This is a transition volume between arcs, with the big Navy Officers finally getting introduced, I admit I was getting bored with the previous arcs, but looks like the fun is only about to begin, well worth the ride.
I was totally in love with this volume because it had great character interactions, banters, humour. It just made me really happy. Under normal circumstances in any other Manga these situations might have been considered as fillers but one piece managed it beautifully by making this a necessary one with its amazing characters.
I loved this arc. Water Seven arc is one of my all favorite arcs in the Manga period. This volume is the epilogue of the Water Seven arc. It was informative, funny, and heart-warming.

Its a great volume and picks after the incidents of Water 7 saga and wow the repercussions are huge, we learn of Luffy and his father DRAGON and his grandfather whose a marine and a vice Admiral. Black beard and whatever is going on with him and Ace, Whitebeard and Shanks and learn of the four powerful pirates who might destabilize the world and wow so much is set up with Admiral Aokiji and the Schibukais and their bounty has increased significant. We get a new ship "Thousand sunny" and Franky joins in as the new nakama and the scene when they are leaving and all come together, saying their adieu to this island is so emotional and good and wow just heartwarming. Luffy has some fun moments and we learn so much of his family and then we get a retrospective of everyone's home town and people reflecting on the new bounties. Its such a great scene and we just see how far we have come. Its an epic and thrilling read and just marks the dawn of a new era aka THE NEW WORLD ORDER! So many enemies, so much to happen, the world of one piece will just get better from here on!

You’d expect the volume right after the climax of Enies Lobby and the loss of The Going Merry (sob) would be a breather episode for the Straw Hats.
Well Oda Sensei said NOPE!
FIRST we almost immediately get the proper introduction to Luffy’s grandfather Rear Admiral Monkey D. Garp (previously shown in the cover art stories training Koby and Helmeppo). Unlike how Netflix introduced Garp right away and he initially was much more friendly with Luffy all things considered (until he wasn’t). It was nice that Luffy and Koby were able to reconnect as they did (I also like how after Nami got her wiretap information, she was smiling at Luffy and Koby bonding). Even if the Live Action series has already pretty much adapted all of Garp and Luffy’s Water Seven conversation I hope Koby and Luffy still have regular meetings like this.
THEN we get the reveal of who Luffy’s father is, Monkey D. Dragon! We get some elaboration on who Dragon is finally after 30+ volumes (Oda Sensei really likes to plan things out years in advance doesn’t he). Hopefully there’s less time between the next info dump on him
THEN we get the return of Shanks (and Whitebeard) WITH the reveal that he and Buggy were on Gol D. Roger’s crew!
THEN we get the reveal of the new ship, The Thousand Sunny. Loved all the details revealed about it.
THEN we get Usopp’s dramatic return to the Straw Hat crew. Frankly I found it much more moving/emotional than Franky joining the Straw Hats. I’m glad they let Usopp back on but it wasn’t a quick forgive and forget moment and Usopp had to work for it. I did love how the crew were hard on him before the apology but immediately welcomed him back once he apologized.
AND THEN we had a nice chapter that check-in on the Straw Hat’s various family members and friends, AND VIVI after no sign of the in God knows how many volumes. It was a really sweet incorporation of these characters after so long. FINALLY We get Ace finally tracking down Blackbeard and a reveal about Blackbeard’s true power/goals.
POST ENIES LOBBY ARC 1. wHAT? garp is luffy's GRANDPA?? monkey d. garp, wha the HELL. i love the entire concept of luffy having a high ranking marine as his grandpa; it makes for a great comedy relief and also great familiar conflict. it's so cool to see koby again too!!! (he is already a commissioned officer?? HOW MANY YEARS HAS IT BEEN??)
2. four emperors - whitebeard, shanks and...?
3. THE DRAGON GUY IS LUFFY'S DAD!!! i dont know what that means yet, but DAMN. no wonder luffy doesn't give a fuck about the laws and the marines, when his dad is a revolutionary guy. okay but now i wanna know - who is his mother??
4. SHANKS WOOF WOOF WOOF WOFO WOFOW FOWNF OWO=FOOW FOWF O=W F - i like that shanks never told anyone about luffy and his missing arm. i feel like he wants to make other people think there is somebody with power enough to do that and instill a bit of cautiousness and fear in others, while also allowing luffy to grow into his power and make a reputation on his own right with no help from shanks
5. i love zoro, have i said that already? his principles on how a crew is supposed to go are solid and admirable, because he understands how a crew is supposed to work. when he decides to follow somebody, he is loyal and he is trusting. loooooove
6. thousand sunny is an awesome name! (not as nice as the merry go, though...)
7. i'm anxious about ace vs blackbeard and what's to come. especially knowing that this guy's power is darkness, and he is like a walking sea prism stone. how do you fight against it? with light?? not even that works, because the darkness behaves like a black hole (that is fucking INSANELY COOL BTW). but holy fuck. blackbeard is intimidating, and crazy, and i cannot wait to see what's gonna happen, the plot is only going to get more fucked up and crazy
i’m so glad i’m finally done with water seven that this gets an automatic 5 stars from me, but i also loved the glimpse at all their past friends and hometowns 💕 cheers to 300,000,000 berries, luffy!
Damn, even the transition books are great. New members in the crew, new characters and a glimpse at what's going on around the world. A very nice breath of fresh air before heading into the next adventure!
This is Peak One Piece. This is my favorite saga of One Piece. This is why I love One Piece.
I don’t have words for the emotions in this arc. Volume 44 alone almost made me cry twice (Usopp/Luffy and Going Merry) and that’s only one of around 10 Volumes of the Saga. The rest are also filled with emotional Highlights. Robins Backstory and character arc is one good example, Usopps Grief another. This Saga has ultimately manifested Usopp as my favorite character in One Piece. I love his character arc here and he has the best, most epic and most emotional moments in this Saga. Especially his relationship with Luffy and the Going Merry stand out. Volume 44 stands out as the best Volume of the Saga and can easily compete with the top Volumes of the Series. So far it is definitely my favorite. It has the best fight, the most emotional moments, the most satisfying pay-off and the most heartbreaking farewell. The fight between Luffy and Lucci stands out among all the other CP9 fights and its probably one of my favorites overall. The stakes are higher than ever. I also love how every Straw-hat has one or two major power-ups on Enies Lobby. I especially liked Luffys, Zoros, Sanjis and Chopper. The worldbuilding is very creative and I love both islands as well as all the reveals around the world, as well as the ones regarding Luffys family. The new bounty reveal was hilarious and its an iconic moment, that all members finally have a bounty.
I can’t wait to follow the crew to Elbaph and finally see Usopp achieve his dream of becoming a brave warrior of the sea. I’m excited to see if One Piece will ever reach the highs of this Saga again (Maybe Elbaph!?)
Review for volumes 33-45(Enies Lobby Saga) Hi Lacobee!!!
This arc story starts with The Crew Falling from the sky Island, their ship had been receiving a lot of damage up to this point. So they are forced to find somewhere to get it fixed up, they end up heading to Water 7, an island known for building ships. They get there and are told that their ship is unfixable, this causes a fight between the crew and Usopp because Usopp is attached to the old ship. And a mysterious group makes contact with Robin and she disappears. From here Luffy and crew must investigate the island to find Robin, they find that she is being transported by the Government Group CP9. CP9 managed to get Robin off of Water 7 and take her to Enies Lobby, an island completely ran by the government. So Luffy and the crew declare war against the World Government, and beat the legendary and powerful group cp9, in order to save Robin from an execution
This arc has been my personal favorite. I think that the fight between Usopp and Luffy is a great story about the need to let go. Usopp was so upset they were getting a new ship he quit the crew, but by the end of the arc he realized that him not letting go of the previous ship was holding him back. And he manages to let go, realizing that what he cares about will always be in his memory. And Robins story is simply about accepting the past, She was the sole survivor of a group exterminated by the World Government, so they have been hunting her since she was 8 years old. And she finally gave up and let them catch her, but Luffy refuses to let her do that, and she realizes that she needs to live in the moment for herself and those she cares about.
Vice Admiral, Monkey D. Garp come to Water 7. He is Luffy's grandfather. It is also revealed that the Revolutionary Army's leader, Monkey D. Dragon is Luffy's father. Luffy and Zoro have a reunion with Coby and Helmeppo.
Franky used 200 million Berry that he stole from Usopp to buy a wood from the Treasure Tree Adam to build a new ship for Straw Hat Pirates. The new ship is built and it called Thousand Sunny. Straw Hat Pirates have a seventh crew, Franky the shipwright. Usopp rejoin the crew.
Their log pose is pointing to the Fishman Island. But first, they must sail through the Florian Triangle.
