I was fixated on who the murderer was the whole time. I was like 90% percent sure it was a certain character, but that plot twist proved me wrong. The plot twist did feel slightly absurd, but some of the past information tied up the ending and confusion.
I didn't trust anyone in this book. The main character was an unreliable main character with a messed up pass, so obviously that doesn't leave much room for trusting. The other characters were really suspicious. Who do I believe and who do I not trust? That was really the main question throughout the book.
Overall, this was a great psychological thriller that gave me chills! I was paranoid basically the whole time. I had to put the book down every once in awhile to wrap my head around the previous events. This book was very cliche though, and it didn't have a fully developed story (if that makes sense). I loved a lot in this book, but it wasn't a phenomenal book. I would still recommend this book if you want a fast and easy thriller. Age Rating - 14+ (search TW)...more
I read this book on a whim because it was free on kindle, so I didn't have any expectations except it was a mafia romance. Well, let's just say that II read this book on a whim because it was free on kindle, so I didn't have any expectations except it was a mafia romance. Well, let's just say that I don't think I like mafia romances. I wasn't interested in the mafia part and the romance was eh. I didn't really connect with Aida and Callum's relationship. I am not trying to be super critical, but I just want to express my opinions. Will I be reading the rest of the series? Sadly, no I will not. If someone were to ask me what this book was about, I would say, "I honestly don't know." I liked the beginning but it just went downhill from there. I skimmed a lot of the book just so I could finish it. It felt like it took place in a very short period of time. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be recommending this book. Sorry if you don't agree with me and you felt differently. Age rating - 16-17+ (search up trigger warning obviously)...more

Her writing has evolved so much over the years, but, in general, she has fantastic writing. How she comes up with these stories is mind-boggling because they are so well thought out.
This book made me think about my choices in life. It made me believe that there is an invisible string tying us to how our life is supposed to turn out. If we made the wrong decision in life, our lives could be turned completely upside down. Believing in fate is obviously opinion based, but I believe in it.
I have loved every book I have read by Taylor Jenkins Reid so far, and now I can add this one to the list. Although I loved this book, it wasn't my favorite book of hers. In general, loved the whole premise and execution of this book, but compared to her other books, they're higher up. I am still so excited to read through her backlist and experience the other incredible stories that she created. Honestly, I will read anything she publishes and writes, so my expectations were pretty neutral, but she amazed me again! Overall, I would undoubtedly recommend this book. I stayed up all night reading it hence why I am writing this review at midnight! Age rating - 14+...more

There is such an unbelievable style to the way she writes. When she writes about the faerie world, she describes it as a fantastical world. We get to see some existing characters from the Folk of the Air series and new characters. The storyline was enticing and I didn't want to put the book down! I also adored the romance or the blooming romance in the story. But, can we talk about that ending because I did not see that coming? I wouldn't say that I loved this book more than The Cruel Prince or the rest of the series, but it was an incredible book that gave us insight into how Oak's life played out. Going into this book, I thought it would be told from Oak's point of view, but it wasn't, it was told from Wren's (Suren) point of view. It wasn't a letdown and it didn't affect how I felt about the book, because I loved seeing a story play out from a new character. Overall, I loved this book! It is not a 5-star read because it didn't have all the 5-star qualities in my opinion, but very close! Age rating: 14+ ...more

Amazing book to start the year off with! Words cannot describe the amount of joy that I felt whilst reading this! The quotes, writing, characters, and plot were all done perfectly. I’ve never personally read anything quite like this before, and I don’t think any other book could compare to this!
I was neutral about both love interests. I was neither Team Jesse nor Team Sam, but I knew there was always going to be one. Up until the end, I still didn’t know who Emma was going to end up with. In the end, she ended up with who she wanted to be with.
I cried like a freaking baby while reading this. Some of the quotes were just so relatable. I think that this is one of my most annotated books. I now need to buy a physical copy of this book so I can reread it and annotate it.
One of my favorite quotes:
“Falling out of love with someone you still like feels exactly like lying in a warm bed and hearing the alarm clock. No matter how good you feel right now, you know it’s time to go.”
("Alexa, play It's Time to Go by Taylor Swift)
Taylor Jenkins Reid created the perfect story that would entrance you from beginning to end! Honestly, I will read anything that Taylor Jenkins Reid writes. She is an incredible writer and has a great way of creating beautifully written stories. I completely recommend this book! Taylor Jenkins Reid is by far my favorite author! Have your own opinions about TJR and her books, but they won’t change the way that I feel about her.
4.5 STARS! I rounded it up because this book was closer to a 5-star read than a 4-star read! Taylor, how do write so magnificently? I was already excit4.5 STARS! I rounded it up because this book was closer to a 5-star read than a 4-star read! Taylor, how do write so magnificently? I was already excited about reading this because the main character had a cameo in Malibu Rising, which I loved, so I had some high hopes for this one. Let me just say that this book did not disappoint! Amazing writing, spectacular quotes (as always), greatly written characters, and an amazing plot line.
Not going to lie, I am not a fan of tennis. Now I seem to be in my Tennis era because of this book... Every game that Carrie played, I was on the edge of my seat. The tension was building. I was nervous for Carrie. Yes, Carrie Soto may not be a very likable main character, but I still cared so much about her. How is she not real?! Taylor Jenkins Reid, are you sure that these are just fictional characters because they seem awfully real?
Anyways, I couldn't get enough of this book. I was incapable of putting it down, which caused many sleepless nights. Taylor Jenkins Reid knows how to elicit emotions from her readers. I have cried in every book I have read of hers, which is a bonus. Overall, this was an out-of-this-world book that left me awestruck! I would undoubtedly recommend this book! I actually loved this more than I thought I would. I was completely enthralled with this book. Did I think I would like this when I picked it up? No, because I thought I was out of my dystopian phase. Apparently not, because I ate this book up. I guess I am a sucker for a good dystopian book. It makes sense considering dystopian books got me into reading. Anyways, this whole book was amazing. I randomly picked this up because I wanted to clear my physical TBR, so I had low expectations. Let's just say I was not disappointed. The characters were amazing! I loved the dual POV, the plot, how fast-paced the book was, and basically everything else. There were some things that I didn't absolutely love, so that's why it is a 4-star instead of a 5-star. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book if you want a fast-paced YA dystopian that will get you out of a reading slump. I think my reading slump might be cured! The amounI can attest to say that this book was something and that something is magnificent! The story was beautifully crafted from beginning to end. The amount of work put into this book is astounding. This book was meticulously created to elicit the right feelings at the right time. The characters were more than just characters. The author allowed you to connect with them on a deeper level. The writing was breathtakingly beautiful. From beginning to end, the writing did not falter. The way things were described made the story feel like it was brought to life. I was intrigued by having this book be narrated by death, and I honestly loved it.
I had a box of tissues for tears towards the end, and let's say those tissues were much needed because I wept like a baby. This book had so many good quotes and lessons. Some of them were sorrowful and some beautiful. I didn't give this book five stars just because of the pacing. I understand that it wasn't meant to be a fast-paced book, but was rather a slower-paced book. It felt as if some of the subjects were dragged on a bit (and yes, I might be contradicting myself), so that's just why I wouldn't necessarily give this book five stars. Overall, this was a heartwrenching book that will make you appreciate your life a little bit more (and especially how easily accessible books are now). Age Rating - 13-14+...more

This series really started my love for fantasy books! Despite all the controversial opinions about this book, I personally love it! I have wanted to reread this book since I heard that the Stolen Heir was coming out, so I did! I just wanted to reread this so I can get back into the Folk of the Air world before reading the Stolen Heir. I definitely recommend this series! Don't go into this series thinking it has a large subplot of romance, which it doesn't. It is sprinkled in all the books, but it is most prominent in the last book, the Queen of Nothing. There is a lot of political intrigue, so if that doesn't interest you, then I wouldn't suggest reading it. Overall, I loved rereading this, and I plan of rereading this book/series a lot!
