The biggest flaw this series has is how laughably arbitrary the technology is. And there are plot holes, the story doesn't really hold up all that well. The POVs have been while not that good at least consistent, but Martine's chapters are just too tacky and it always takes me out. Like just to imagine a middle aged french woman whispering to herself while people are dying around her is so hillarious. Other than that the story is fine. Like, the things that happen are interesting enough to keep reading. However, the things that happen are a lot, and by book three too many things are left unexplained and all the little details that have been hinted throughout the book are not coming together the way they should and some of the reveals really didn't land as well as they should have after such a long build up.
