Prince's Master (Calluvia's Royalty #4; Masters #1)
by
I thoroughly enjoyed all of the intrigue, plotting, and power play maneuvering in this latest story in the "Calluvia's Royalty" series.
However, if you're looking for tons of romance and feels, this was most definitely *not* that book, mainly due to the fact that Master Castien Idhron had his emotions on Alcatraz-level lockdown.
I loved how, as the story began, we got a backfill of information as to how Eridan and his brother's princely lives were irrevocably changed for nearly two decades, which wasn't thoroughly fleshed out in the last book.
I could have completely done without all of the self-lubrication talk of Eridan being a "throwback", but did appreciate how Hazard once again turned the telepathic act of mingling minds into something much steamier than I would've previously thought possible.
My favorite parts of the book didn't come until around 85% in, when Eridan finally realized that his Master might not be capable of providing him with even the bare minimum of what he needed, but said Master also began to realize that maybe his regimented life and ambitions may no longer be enough for him anymore, either.
So if the idea of a young, rebellious, exiled prince falling deeply in love with a seemingly-unfeeling, power-hungry leader in a group of planet-dominating telepaths sounds interesting to you, this might be a book that you would also enjoy.
I'd rate it at around 4.25 stars and highly recommend it to anyone who has already read the first three books in the series.
** Note: These stories are extremely interlinked, so in my opinion, I don't believe that they should be read as standalone books.
