9 Cute and Stylish Face Masks We’re Keeping in Rotation This Summer

Despite the heat, maskne, and foggy glasses, Glamour staffers are reaching for cute and stylish face masks to help slow the spread of coronavirus this summer. New studies show masking up makes a positive impact on flattening the curve, and with cases spiking in states across the U.S., there's really no excuse not to #WearADamnMask.

When the pandemic began, face masks were hard to come by, but by now, countless brands have stepped up to produce face coverings using their upcycled fabric and factories—and you can find a ton of cute styles on Etsy and Amazon. Whether you're going running or keeping your kids protected, there's a mask for that. From floral print to tie-dye and masks with a message, the options are endless.
If you're like us, you've probably amassed a collection of cloth face masks at this point, but we asked Glamour staffers which ones they're always eager to wash and wear again. Ahead, the cute and stylish face masks we plan to keep in rotation all summer long.
I frequently use Buck Mason's antimicrobial masks, but it was only a matter of time before I began to acquire “special occasion” face masks. Ones I reserve for walking over to a friend's apartment for a sidewalk-to-window chat or visiting family over a socially distant picnic. The floral ribbons, the embroidered lips, the linen fabric—it’s straight out of Instagram’s wildest cottagecore dreams and makes me feel more “dressed up” than anything else I’ve bought during quarantine. I'm also keen on finding the best face masks for glasses, and this one totally fits the bill. The linen is stiff but malleable and breathable—and it almost goes up to my eyes, so I can perch my glasses over the face covering without fogging up my vision. At this point I’m willing to believe almost anything that promises increased safety, so I’m all in on the claim that this mask features certified technology that actually sterilizes the air that passes through, killing potential bacteria and viruses. Le Scarf is this superchic, minimal Swedish brand I discovered midquarantine, and in my quest for a more stylish face mask, I bought three of its silk scarves (and counting). Right now they serve as makeshift face coverings, but a silk scarf is timeless in my style book, and I can easily use it as a little accent on a bag handle, or wear it as a neckerchief later on. Safety comes first for now though, so I'll often double down on the layering and wear one of those thin paper face masks with ties underneath for extra protection while running errands. —Talia Abbas, commerce writer
I’ve had my standard blue and white face mask for a while, but as the weather has gotten nicer and I’ve worn more than just sweats, I wanted a mask that matched. This one was made by a family friend and comes in handy whenever I need a pop of color. Homemade Fabric Patch Mask
I’m a seamstress sometimes, so I jumped at the chance to make my own mask back in March. I used the directions from the folks at The Fabric Patch in Ephrata, Washington, who coordinated and inspired the production of 167,000 masks for health care workers and health care offices. An engineer made this set of many-size patterns, which I’ve used for everyone in my family. Owner Cindi Rang has several great videos as well as lists of recommended materials. She suggested a nonwoven interfacing for the lining, which means I don’t have to change the filter, because it’s built in. I tried to blow out a match and couldn’t. No germs are getting out of there! Iron-on Pellon works great since it will keep the inner lining stiff enough to not suck up against your mouth.
