Transforming battlefield casualty care
DARPA is focusing on the Live Chain: The critical steps of tactical combat casualty care that bridge the gap between injury on the battlefield and arrival at surgical care. The Live Chain encompasses self-aid, buddy-aid, medic care, en-route care during evacuation, and ultimately, surgical intervention.
The aim is to ensure warfighters survive the pre-surgical period despite the increased time between injury and definitive medical care.
11 companies selected to enter second stage
Following an initial assessment of technical concepts in the Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI), these organizations have now entered into a yearlong appraisal period.
QBI aims to rigorously verify and validate whether any quantum computing approach can achieve utility-scale operation — meaning its computational value exceeds its cost — by the year 2033.
