Dirty Pudding

I think Dirty Pudding might the simplest, easiest recipe in my rotation. With the use of Cool Whip and instant pudding mix it comes together super fast, makes enough to feed a decent amount of people and is inexpensive to make which is always great.
It shouldn’t be unfamiliar if you’ve ever made any sort of no-bake cookies and cream dessert. Kids love making this in my experience and bonus: they can lick the bowl and utensils without the risk of food poisoning as with cake batter and cookie dough.
Dirty Pudding is my husband’s all-time favorite dessert, which is saying a lot because the man loves sugar. There’s a reason honey’s in the name of this here endeavor.
This recipe was given to me by my husband’s grandmother, and I haven’t changed a thing. She served it at the very first Thanksgiving I went to at her house (that’s when I found out it was his favorite).
Well, I’m lying: I’ve been making it ‘extra dirty’ recently by using a party pack of Double Stuf Oreos instead of the usual family pack of regular Oreos. This was by request, tho!
If you like Golden Oreos you might like my Loaded Rice Krispies Treats or the Golden Oreo Banana Pudding recipe in my second cookbook We Got Food At The House.
If you enjoy food visuals (like meeee) there are videos of me making this on Instagram and more photos too.
Ingredients
- 3 C whole milk
- 2 3.4-oz box instant vanilla pudding mix, I use Jell-O brand
- 1 package Oreos, use any size package (regular or larger), any variety you want
- 1 8-oz package cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/4 C salted butter, room temperature
- 1 C powdered sugar
- 1/2 Tsp vanilla extract
- 1 12-oz package Cool Whip, thawed
Instructions
- Whisk together the 2 3.4-oz box instant vanilla pudding mix and 3 C whole milk in a medium bowl until smooth, then pop it in the fridge to set. Easy peasy.
- Now, take out your frustrations on those 1 package Oreos. I like a rough, uneven consistency so my favorite method is to put them in a bag and beat it with a rolling pin. Other options are pulsing in a food processor or blender, breaking them apart with your hands, leaving them whole, or chopping them up with a knife.
- In another bowl, beat together the 1 8-oz package cream cheese, 1/4 C salted butter, 1 C powdered sugar, and 1/2 Tsp vanilla extract until itโs smooth and irresistible. This is the creamy goodness that ties everything together.
- By now, your pudding should be ready (because you bought instant!). Gently fold in the 1 12-oz package Cool Whip to keep things light and fluffy. Once itโs all mixed in, fold in the cream cheese mixture, making sure everythingโs well combined.
- Now, itโs time to build the Dirty Pudding. Layer everything in a trifle dish, parfait glasses, or however else you want to present it. Throw a few whole Oreos on top for garnish if youโre feeling fancy. Let it chill in the fridge for at least two hours before serving, so all those flavors can meld together. Dassit!
Great recipeโฆ..but, please update step 1 in the instructions to say mix the pudding and milk and not the cool whip and milk.
thank you! not sure how that even happened!
This pudding is ADDICTIVE! I made it for my family last Thanksgiving and everyone grabbed seconds. Creamy, comforting, and not too sweet. The recipe does make a very large portion – way too much for four people, I had to send my family home with leftovers. This isnโt a bad thing! This is a pretty cost effective recipe to feed a lot of people.
Oreo heaven! This pudding was a hit with both the kids and the adults. Super creamy, chocolatey, and just downright addictive. I almost ate it all before I let it chill!
This recipe is AMAZING! I don’t care if the next woman makes it or his grandmother makes it, that man will NEVER have dirty pudding like yours EVER AGAIN! EVEN IF THEY USE YOUR RECIPE AND THEY BETTER NOT. He’s gonna miss it every birthday for the rest of his life and that is what he deserves!
OMG, this is next-level delicious! I made it as a dessert for a coworker’s baby shower, but ended up having to stop at a bakery because everyone in the house wanted some. Will definitely make again.
I just stumbled upon your IG page and was immediately in a worm hole ? lol. I think I watched every video (Quarantine gives me a lot of time these days ??โโ๏ธ) #NewFollower ??โโ๏ธ And you had me at โI like a rough, uneven consistency so I put them in a Ziploc bag and beat the shit out of it with a rolling pin.โ ? Any-who, Iโm headed to the store as we speak to grab a few things for a few of your dishes. Iโm looking forward to my next cooking/ baking adventure ??โ? .
Thanks for the inspiration โจ?
So I didn’t realize my spam filter was SO zealous and I’m just now going through my comments. I’m very late but I’m glad you found me!
I made this for my nieceโs birthday party, and the kids went wild for it! So easy to make and soooooo good. Itโs going to be a party staple from now on.
Great recipe
thank you!!
