kimi: that was the name of one of her cats
She hasn't posted in a while; I was friends with her outside DU--she was a great person.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=profile&uid=250986
She was a retired military nurse mother of 4 boys. She'd recently become engaged to a wonderful man and humanitarian. Barbara, was always there with a helping hand.
She was the definition of an activist. Both with humans and animals. She was fierce in fighting for issues that mattered.
I met her through DU she was a wonderful friend to me. For that I thank Skinner and the rest of DU. I wish I'd known her longer. My heart is breaking right now.
The world has lost a great woman and I a friend. I would like Skinner to add her to the memorial wall/page not sure what it's called.
I'm at a loss for words right now....shocked...gut punched.
There's so much more to say about her. She was a wonderful person. Anyone here that got to know her on a personal level knew she loved animals and was huge advocate for them. She would take in feral cats/strays get them healthy and find them homes.
Please keep her fiance' and her boys in your thoughts.
I haven't posted in a while and will probably disappear again, however I wanted DU to know they lost one of their own.
