Outdoor attractions, a lively downtown and the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains make this town one of South Carolina’s most enchanting destinations.

Greenville is nestled in the foothills of South Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Its scenic location makes it a paradise for visitors throughout the year.

Make use of the town’s bike sharing system and ride along Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail, a 17.5 mile (28.2 kilometer) path that leads to Travelers Rest, a historic mountain town. Afterwards, cool off at Otter Creek, a water park that offers slides and pools.

Spend the day exploring Heritage Green, the town’s expansive arts and cultural campus. Peruse works by renowned American artists Andrew Wyeth and Jasper Johns at Greenville County Museum of Art. Take the kids to the Children’s Museum of the Upstate where they can engage in interactive exhibits. The campus also includes the Hughes Main Library, the Greenville Little Theatre, the Upcountry History Museum and the Sargent-Wilson Museum & Gallery, which showcases fine art from the Museum and Gallery at Bob Jones University.

Walk a few blocks to the downtown area, where restaurants, cafés, shops and galleries line the streets. Eat what is called “Southern Comfort Food” on Main Street then catch a show at The Peace Center. During the warmer months you can watch an outdoor musical performance at NOMA Square.

Take a ride on the free Downtown Trolley. Pack a picnic and spend a relaxing afternoon in Falls Park on the banks of the Reedy River. Further down the river, kids will enjoy the Children’s Garden at Linky Stone Park.

Liberty Bridge, the city’s iconic suspension bridge spans across the Reedy River with unobstructed views of Reedy River Falls. Head to Fluor Field to watch the Greenville Drive, a minor league baseball team, play on their home turf. Greenville Zoo is an ideal place to bring the family for a few hours.

Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport is located 14 miles (22.5 kilometers) outside the town and services flights to most U.S. destinations. Greenville is just over an hour's drive from Asheville, North Carolina.Plan a visit to Greenville to enjoy the scenic atmosphere, small-town charm and nearby outdoor attractions.
