MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating after it says officers were shot at Monday afternoon while investigating a vehicle.

The incident prompted a manhunt, and police say as of Monday evening, the suspect is still at large, but a shelter-in-place for the area has been lifted.

The incident happened shortly after 3 p.m. on the 3500 block of North Oliver Avenue.

Police say officers were investigating a vehicle when they were shot at by a passenger. Authorities say there are no known injuries at this time, and the vehicle has been recovered. According to the Minneapolis Police Department’s 911 incident page, dozens of squads were dispatched to the area on an "officer needs help" call.

What led up to the man firing at officers is under investigation.

WADENA, Minn. (FOX 9) - Police are renewing efforts to solve the decades-old disappearance of Carla Anderson with a new reward and a plea for information.

Family and community remember Carla Anderson’s disappearance

Carla Anderson was 23 years old when she vanished from her home at the Greenwood Apartments in Wadena on Nov. 13, 1987. Police found signs she made it home that night, with no evidence of a struggle.

Anderson’s family has aged over the years, but her memory remains vivid. "Just fiercely independent, loved living on her own, making her own money, doing her own thing," said Dan Anderson, Carla’s brother.

Her mother and stepfather last saw her when they brought her home that November night. The next day, Anderson did not show up for work at Hardee’s, where she had just been named employee of the month.

Wayne Wolden, her manager at Hardee’s and a future Wadena mayor, remembered her fondly. "Carla is just an exemplary bubbly, happy, just joyous individual who just brought so many smiles to everybody, employees and customers alike," he said.

Police say Anderson was 4 feet, 10 inches tall, about 80 pounds and had a mild intellectual disability. Investigators do not believe she would have chosen to disappear on her own.

Wadena police and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension have followed thousands of leads over the years. They eliminated family members as suspects and interviewed Floyd Tapson, a suspected serial killer who targeted developmentally challenged young women, but the case remains unsolved.

The search for answers and hope for closure

Anderson’s disappearance has left her family with decades of uncertainty and pain.

"My mom, she was pretty convinced shortly after she disappeared that she was no longer with us. And for myself, it's like you think back and you go, well, did somebody take her? Do they have her somewhere else? Is she alive?" said Dan Anderson.

Police are not giving up hope.

"Someone knows what happened. Someone knows," said Chief Naomi Plautz of the Wadena Police Department.

On Monday, authorities announced a new $25,000 reward for information that leads to finding Anderson, hoping this incentive will prompt someone to come forward before time runs out for those who remember her.

The community continues to hope for answers, with police and family members urging anyone with information to help bring closure to a case that has haunted Wadena for nearly four decades.

Authorities have not revealed any new suspects or evidence, and it remains unclear what happened to Carla Anderson after she arrived home in 1987.

CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Minn. (FOX 9) - A man from New York who the Department of Homeland Security says was in the U.S. illegally faces serious charges after a fatal crash at a rural Minnesota intersection back in March.

Chippewa County fatal crash leads to charges 

Prosecutors charged Georgii Gabiev with criminal vehicular homicide and reckless driving after a deadly crash on Tuesday, March 5 in Chippewa County. 

According to a criminal complaint, Trooper Gile with the Minnesota State Patrol responded to a head-on crash at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 7 and Chippewa County Road 4 just after 5 p.m. When Gile arrived, he saw a semi-truck engulfed, and a grain trailer tipped over. Medics told him the semi driver, identified as Tim Tarnowski, had been ejected and was dead at the scene. 

Gabiev, the driver of a Ford F-350, was being treated for injuries. Investigators found an iPad in Gabiev’s truck still playing a YouTube video. Gabiev later admitted to driving the pickup and said he was listening to an English lesson on the iPad, but claimed he was not looking at it while driving. Based on the scene, Trooper Gile determined Gabiev failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection, causing the crash. 

Both vehicles and trailers were totaled in the crash. The intersection where the crash happened is controlled by stop signs for north and southbound traffic on County Road 4, but not for east and westbound traffic on Highway 7. 

Gabiev told investigators he was sober at the time of the crash. The complaint notes that he was listening to a program on the iPad to help him learn English. Gabiev now faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine if convicted of criminal vehicular homicide, along with additional penalties for reckless driving. 

Gabiev pled guilty to criminal vehicular homicide, but served 120 days in jail.

On June 9, 2026, ICE law enforcement officers arrested Gabiev in Brooklyn, New York. He will remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings. Secretary Markwayne Mullin called Tim’s widow, Tammy, to inform her of Gabiev’s arrest.

Gabiev told law enforcement he was not looking at the iPad while driving. He said he was simply listening to the lesson as he drove. Prosecutors allege that Gabiev’s actions — failing to stop at a stop sign and driving while distracted — led to the deadly crash. 

Gabiev is currently in custody and ordered detained pending further court proceedings. A warrant has been issued for his continued detention, and he is required to appear in court as directed. The case will move forward in Chippewa County District Court. 

It is not yet clear whether Gabiev will contest the charges or what his defense may be.

OTSEGO, Minn. (FOX 9) - A 36-year-old Otsego man who runs a swim school for kids with special needs faces felony charges after police say he sent explicit material to a 15-year-old girl over several months. 

Charges against Blake Beatnik Le Saint

According to a criminal complaint filed in Wright County District Court, Blake Beatnik Le Saint, 36, is accused of sending explicit photos and sexual messages to a 15-year-old girl between August 2025 and March 2026.

The complaint says Le Saint used both his real identity and a fake persona named "Taylor" to communicate with the girl, offering her money for nude photos and sending a nude image of himself. Investigators say the girl’s parents reported the messages to police on April 15, 2026, after discovering grooming-type texts and offers of money. 

The girl had been taking swimming lessons from Le Saint since 2021, and the two began texting regularly about a year before the report. 

The complaint states that Le Saint sent the girl a nude photo and later told her to delete the text thread. Detectives found thousands of messages exchanged, many initiated by Le Saint, including daily greetings, offers of gifts and sexual comments.

Police say messages from a burner phone used the name "Taylor," but further investigation linked that number back to Le Saint. The complaint details messages in which Le Saint discussed massages, skinny dipping, porn and masturbation, and offered the girl money to model in her underwear or bikini. In one message, he sent a video showing a nude woman and asked the girl about her own sexual activity. 

Detectives say Le Saint’s wife confirmed he was remorseful and admitted to contacting the girl as "Taylor" using a burner app. She told investigators she did not know anyone named Taylor and did not message the girl herself. The girl’s parents told police they had discussed her age with Le Saint, and he was aware she was working toward getting her driver’s license. They also said Le Saint had given the girl gifts for helping babysit his child.

The complaint states that the girl’s sister had also taken swimming lessons from Le Saint, and the relationship between the defendant and the girl began through his swimming company. The investigation began after the girl’s parents discovered inappropriate messages and reported them to police. Detectives say further investigation showed that "Taylor" was not a real cousin, but a fake identity used by Le Saint to solicit explicit images from the girl. 

A search of the girl’s phone revealed thousands of messages, including several that were sexual or grooming in nature. The complaint also notes that Le Saint’s wife confronted him after learning about the messages, and he admitted to using a burner app to contact the girl as "Taylor."

A warrant has been issued for Le Saint's arrest.

EAGAN, Minn. (FOX 9) - Eagan police say a standoff along Rahn Road ended safely Monday afternoon.

Eagan investigation

Eagan police put out a warning shortly after 9:30 a.m. about an ongoing situation along Rahn Road and Diffley Road.

At the time, police were asking the public to avoid the area until further notice.

Shortly after noon, officers issued an update saying the situation had resolved safely after four hours of negotiations.

"This was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the greater community," police said. "Thank you for your patience while our officers worked to bring this to a safe outcome for everyone involved.  We're grateful to serve this community."

Police say the standoff centered around an apartment complex just north of Diffley Road. The individual that was taken into custody is being booked into Dakota County Jail on charges of threats of violence, assault, and disorderly conduct.

WADENA, Minn. (FOX 9) - Authorities announced a $25,000 reward for new information in the cold case disappearance of a Wadena woman who has been missing for nearly 39 years.

Search for Carla Beth Anderson

Carla Beth Anderson was last seen in Wadena on November 13, 1987.

According to the Charley Project, she was a Hardee's worker and went out with her family to celebrate being named employee of the month at work. After dinner, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., her family dropped her off at the Greenwood Apartments where she lived.

Police say they were able to determine that she made it safely back inside her apartment because a cup and a videotape she was carrying were found inside her apartment.

However, the next day she never showed up for work, which was uncharacteristic for Anderson. She has never been heard from since. According to investigators, her apartment did not appear to be disturbed and the only things missing were her keys and her Hardee's jacket.

Authorities do suspect foul play in her disappearance, according to a post on the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.

Anderson was 23 years old when she disappeared. She was slight in stature, just 4-feet-11-inches tall and 80 pounds. She had blonde hair, blue or brown eyes, and a half-inch scar over her right eye from stitches.

She was last seen wearing a brown and orange Hardee's jacket, a white Pepsi and Mountain Dew sweatshirt with three bears on it, blue jeans, and pink sneakers.

Anderson suffered from a slight mental disability.

Reward being offered

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety and the Wadena Police Department held a news conference on Monday with members of Anderson's family to announce a new reward in hopes of sparking new leads in the disappearance.

"We have pursued, re-examined, and exhausted hundreds of tips and leads," Wadena Police Chief Naomi Plautz said. "But someone knows what happened. Someone knows."

Anderson's family says nearly 40 years have passed and Anderson's parents are now gone. But, Anderson's brother Dan says that rarely does a day pass that they don't think about Carla.

"We miss her a lot… Not hardly day goes by that we don't think about her," Anderson said.

"It's sad that you know people like my mom and her stepdad Vern, they're not going to get to see the closure on this while they were still alive," Anderson added.

Dan Anderson said Monday that he hopes that the new reward can bring tips that can bring about a resolution to the disappearance.

EAGAN, Minn. (FOX 9) - The Minnesota Vikings are gearing up for their 66th training camp, kicking off with Back Together Weekend and Legends Weekend on Saturday, Aug. 1. at TCO Performance Center in Eagan.

Training camp schedule, ticket details 

The Vikings will host 13 open practices at Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center, wrapping up with joint practices against the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday, Aug. 19, and Thursday, Aug. 20. The first padded practice is set for Monday, Aug. 3, and the popular night practice will take place Sunday, Aug. 9, at TCO Stadium. 

General admission tickets for 12 of the 13 practices are free for season ticket members and children 36 inches and under, $5 for children 17 and under and $10 for adults. 

Night practice tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children 17 and under and free for children 36 inches and under. A portion of ticket sales supports the Minnesota Vikings Foundation. Fans must reserve digital tickets in advance. 

Up to 4,000 tickets are available each day, with night practice capacity set at 6,000. Season ticket members can reserve up to four free tickets for two days, with general ticket access opening Thursday, June 18. A full daily practice schedule and media availability will be released in July.

The 2026 training camp offers more than just football. Kids 17 and under can take part in organized autograph sessions with Vikings players, and the camp will feature a family fun zone, youth football clinics, cheer clinics and prize-winning opportunities.

Parking is $10 when reserved in advance or $20 on arrival, with ADA parking and rideshare options available. MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - UPDATE: The missing 10-year-old boy in Minneapolis has been found safe, police said Monday morning.

Officers said he is back home with his family.

VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. (FOX 9) - The Vadnais Heights City Council may backtrack on a plan to build a new fire station just a month after approval after some backlash from residents over the cost of the project.

Fire station project rescinded

A proposal on the Vadnais Heights City Council agenda for Tuesday asks members to consider reversing a capital project approved last month.

Last month, the council approved a more than $30 million project to build a new city fire station. The project is set to be financed through bonds and the council was readying to entertain bids this summer.

Officials said the project would cost residents about $30 to $65 per month, depending on home value.

However, according to the city administrator, the city has received "significant questions and feedback from residents regarding the proposed project" since its approval. The administrator is now recommending that the council rescind the plan approval and instead direct a public relations firm to develop a "comprehensive public engagement and communication plan" for the proposed project.

Correction: An earlier version of this story stated the council would approve a contract with the PR firm at Tuesday's meeting. That contract was actually previously approved at an earlier council meeting.

In a statement to FOX 9, the city says:

"Ensuring our firefighters are ready when our residents need them most is a critical and essential city service. Right now, the south fire station is outdated and has significant limitations that make it harder for firefighters to respond, train and support 24/7 staffing. To address these challenges, the city plans to invest in a modern, efficient fire station that supports how we manage fire operations today and in the future.

"Since the City Council provided preliminary approval to finance the construction of the new south fire station, the city has received significant questions and feedback from residents regarding the proposed project. While many community members recognize the importance of maintaining high-quality emergency services, it’s become clear that we need to do more to communicate and engage with residents. In recent weeks, we’ve identified areas of confusion and misunderstanding. That tells us we need to take more time to explain the challenges we’re facing, walk through the project and our options, and give residents the space to ask questions and share their perspectives. The City Council will consider rescinding its action approving the Capital Improvement Plan and preliminary bond issuance for the project. This gives the city the opportunity to restart the public engagement process with a renewed focus on transparency, education and community involvement."

The council will weigh the decision on the project at its meeting on Tuesday. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Two people convicted in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme will soon learn how long they will spend behind bars.

Sentencing hearings begin for major fraud case

Najmo Ahmed and her husband falsely claimed to feed more than 3,200 kids twice a day at their Minneapolis grocery and deli – Evergreen Grocery and Deli. Ahmed pleaded guilty last year to receiving more than $4.2 million in payments from Feeding Our Future based on these fraudulent claims.

Authorities said between April 2020 and April 2021, Ahmed claimed to serve over 1.4 million meals to children.

Federal prosecutors say Ahmed laundered nearly $1.4 million through her personal bank accounts, using the money to fund her lavish lifestyle.

The U.S. Attorney's Office is asking that Ahmed be sentenced to just over two years in prison. Meanwhile, her defense is seeking a lighter sentence of just six months behind bars, nine months of home confinement and two years of supervised release.

Ahmed will appear in court at 2 p.m. on Monday for sentencing.

Ahmed's defense is pushing for a much lighter sentence than what prosecutors are seeking. They are requesting six months in prison, followed by nine months of home confinement and two years of supervised release.

Another defendant faces sentencing

On Tuesday, another defendant, Asha Jama, will be sentenced in a separate case. Jama was convicted of using a restaurant in Rochester to defraud more than $5 million from the child nutrition program.

Prosecutors are seeking a 16-month sentence for Jama in this case.

High level clouds will be on the increase through the midday and afternoon hours.

The wave will pop scattered showers and a couple of isolated thundershowers in northern and western Minnesota during the afternoon.

Rain chances hold off in the Metro until evening with showers rolling towards the Twin Cities around sunset, 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. Expect little downpours, a couple of possible lightning strikes, and gusty breezes from stronger cells. 

Scattered showers will linger in the overnight hours, bringing lows in the low to middle 50s, and 54 in the Twin Cities.

Rain chances will hang around through the morning commute, then scoot eastward.

Conditions will become partly cloudy.

Minnesota lawmaker shootings

Sunday marks one year since a gunman went on a late-night rampage in Minnesota, senselessly gunning down Melissa and Mark Hortman and their dog Gilbert at their home in Brooklyn Park.

Prior to the Hortman shooting, the same assailant went to the home of Senator John Hoffman and shot Hoffman and his wife Yvette, and attempted to shoot their daughter, Hope.

Authorities said the gunman also targeted two other lawmakers that same morning, but one lawmaker wasn't home, and a police officer scared him off from the other home.

The past week, the gunman entered a guilty plea on charges related to stalking and the shootings. As part of the plea, he is expected to be sentenced to life in prison.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A Minneapolis couple is taking legal action after a shooting and months of alleged neighbor harassment, raising new questions about what home sellers must disclose.

Moturi files lawsuit over undisclosed neighbor conflicts

Davis and Caroline Moturi bought their south Minneapolis home in 2023, expecting a fresh start. Instead, they say they faced months of harassment from their neighbor, John Sawchak, before Davis Moturi was shot in October of 2024.

The lawsuit claims the previous homeowners had their own conflicts with Sawchak, including police calls, reported death threats and a harassment restraining order in 2023. According to the complaint, none of this was shared with the Moturi’s before the sale closed.

The Moturi’s point to a seller disclosure form where the previous homeowners answered "no" when asked if they were aware of any other material facts that could affect a buyer's use or enjoyment of the property.

Minnesota law requires sellers to disclose any material facts they know of that could impact a buyer’s use or enjoyment of a property. The Moturi’s say if they had known about the neighbor issues, they never would have purchased the home.

FOX 9 reached out to the former homeowners for comment, but has not heard back. Attempts to contact Davis Moturi and his legal team were also unsuccessful.

The case also names the city of Minneapolis, former Police Chief Brian O’Hara and Sawchak as defendants.

 One of the key questions in the case is whether alleged issues with a neighbor qualify as "material facts about the property" that must be disclosed under state law.

OTTER TAIL CO., Minn. (FOX 9) - Authorities are investigating after a woman was killed in a single-car crash near Vergas Sunday morning. 

First responders rush to rollover crash

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 7:28 a.m. Sunday on County Highway 60, east of County Highway 36.

Authorities say a vehicle was heading west on County Highway 60 when it veered off the road, hit an approach and rolled multiple times before coming to rest near a tree line. The driver, a 46-year-old woman, was the only person in the car and became trapped inside after the crash.

Emergency crews arrived quickly and began rescue efforts to reach the trapped driver. The area where the crash happened is rural and surrounded by tree lines, which may have made the rescue more challenging. 

First responders from several agencies, including Vergas Fire and Rescue, Perham Fire, Perham Ambulance, Perham Police Department and the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office worked together to free the woman from the vehicle. She was taken to Perham Health, where she was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released the woman’s name or details about what caused the crash. The investigation is still underway. 

SARTELL, Minn. (FOX 9) - Authorities say two drivers were seriously injured in a crash Saturday night in Sartell, and it's believed speed and alcohol were factors in the incident.

Sartell Public Safety said officers, firefighters and Mayo Ambulance responded to the 800 block of Roberts Road for a crash with injuries Saturday night. When they arrived, they found two vehicles with heavy damage and both drivers trapped inside. 

Both drivers had to be extricated by emergency personnel before being taken to St. Cloud Hospital. Police said both are in serious but stable condition. A passenger in one of the vehicles had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The Minnesota State Patrol helped with the investigation and brought in a crash reconstruction expert to help determine what happened. Emergency crews worked together to safely remove the drivers and provide medical care at the scene before transporting them to the hospital.

Crash investigation, possible contributing factors 

According to Sartell Public Safety, early information from the scene suggests that speed and alcohol impairment may have contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are working to understand exactly what led up to the crash.

Authorities have not released the names of those involved or provided updates on their conditions beyond stating they are in serious but stable condition. The full findings of the crash investigation have not yet been shared.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals Saturday night to win the series 4-1.

For the first time since 1973, the Knicks are NBA champions. That means former Minnesota Timberwolves’ star Karl-Anthony Towns is an NBA champion. Towns just finished his 11th NBA season after being drafted No. 1 overall by the Timberwolves in 2015.

The Timberwolves traded Towns to the Knicks just before the start of the 2024-2025 season in the deal that brought Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to Minnesota.

KAT calls Ant on FaceTime

Shortly after winning his first NBA title, Towns went to his phone and talked to Edwards on FaceTime. The two remain very close friends after Towns’ departure from Minnesota. The two were teammates on the Timberwolves for four seasons.

Towns thanked the Timberwolves and his former teammates on ESPN’s postgame show, while smoking a victory cigar.

"Huge shoutout to all my teammates I’ve had before coming here. Shoutout to my brother, Anthony Edwards, talking to him all the time," Towns said. "Those guys made me a better leader, a better player, made me the man I am today. I’m forever grateful for them."

Towns averaged 13 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.4 steals and one block per game during the NBA Finals. Towns fouled out of Game 5 with about five minutes to play. In 23 minutes, he had two points, 10 rebounds and three steals.

What’s next for Timberwolves?

For the first time in three seasons, the Timberwolves failed to reach the Western Conference Finals of the NBA Playoffs.

Edwards was playing on two ailing knees, and DiVincenzo tore his Achilles during the first quarter of Game 4 in the Timberwolves’ series win over the Denver Nuggets. The Timberwolves likely will look to add a primary point guard to play alongside Edwards, and they could be in play to trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, but the price to bring him to Minnesota is probably too steep for Tim Connelly. 

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Davis Moturi, who was shot in 2024 after warning the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) about repeated threats from his neighbor, is suing the city, the former police chief, the couple who sold him his home as well as the neighbor accused of shooting him. 

Lawsuit filed over Minneapolis Moturi shooting

The civil lawsuit, filed in Hennepin County District Court, accuses the previous couple who owned the home of intentionally not disclosing the threat that John Sawchak, the next-door neighbor, had posed to them in the past.

Records show that Sawchak had a documented history of harassing and threatening the couple while they lived in the home. They even obtained a restraining order against Sawchak in June 2023, which Sawchak violated, according to court documents. It was during this time that the home was listed for sale. 

The complaint states that Hanes answered "No" on a mandatory disclosure form when asked if there were any material facts that could significantly affect a buyer’s use or enjoyment of the property. The Moturis say they relied on this statement when making their offer.

Moturi is also accusing the City of Minneapolis of not properly supervising its officers and failing to arrest Sawchak despite valid arrest warrants and opportunities to serve them, according to the lawsuit.

The complaint shows a warrant was issued for Sawchak's arrest on April 5, 2024, for gross misdemeanor charges related to multiple harassment incidents.

However, police never served the arrest warrant, and the harassment, which included threats of violence, racist comments and human waste being dumped in Moturi's yard. 

A felony warrant was issued in July, the lawsuit states, but police still did not arrest Sawchak.

Moturi was then shot in the neck on Oct. 23, 2024, while he was pruning a tree near his home's property line, and Sawchak was finally arrested days later.

The lawsuit also accuses former Minneapolis Police Chief O'Hara of defaming Moturi when he publicly stated that Moturi "escalated" the situation, a statement the chief later walked back.

O'Hara is quoted in the lawsuit saying, "In this particular instance, we failed this victim. 100 percent. Because that should not have happened. The Minneapolis police did not act urgently enough to prevent that individual from being shot. And to that victim, I say I am sorry."

The criminal case against Sawchak is in limbo after he was found incompetent to stand trial in 2025.

The civil lawsuit accuses him of battery for allegedly shooting Moturi in the neck. 

The lawsuit is calling for a jury trial to address physical, emotional and financial damages incurred from the shooting. 

Minneapolis Police Department audited 

A Minneapolis city audit revealed significant shortcomings in the response from officers. 

The audit found Minneapolis police officers appeared to misunderstand whether they could legally enter Sawchak's home after the shooting. Some officers argued "the risk to officer safety was too great" to justify going inside for what they believed was a misdemeanor offense.

It took police five days to arrest Sawchak, who was later deemed mentally ill in court. The audit also noted that many of its recommendations are already being addressed by the department, and it pointed out some promising behavior by the department, like strong "situational awareness," de-escalation techniques, and professionalism with victims.

Moturi, who was shot in the neck, told FOX 9, "If they're too scared to do anything, how does how do they think I feel? How do they think I'm supposed to exist? Or what about the rest of the community, if they can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. That's why we hired you to risk your life, to go in and put yourself in front of the citizens. What happened to serve and protect?"

The audit also pointed out that then-Chief O’Hara initially appeared to blame Moturi in part for the shooting, using language the auditor described as harmful.

Moturi said, "I'm glad they highlighted the chief victim-blaming, and I know he claimed he received the wrong information. That begs the question, OK, well, where's the information coming from?"

O’Hara addressed the audit’s findings, saying, "Escalating neighbor disputes can leave people feeling trapped in their own homes, living with ongoing fear and uncertainty. No matter the circumstance, those who reach out for help deserve the very best from the City of Minneapolis and our police department."

O’Hara later said in October 2024 that police failed Moturi and has since apologized publicly.

However, Moturi told FOX 9 he didn't receive a direct apology from the chief.

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (FOX 9) - The driver involved in a deadly crash in White Bear Lake last week that claimed the life of a motorcyclist is now facing criminal vehicular homicide charges after authorities say they tested more than three times over the blood-alcohol limit.

Robert Marines Rodriguez, 63, is charged with criminal vehicular homicide under the influence of alcohol for the crash on the night of Wednesday, June 10. Rodriguez was behind the wheel of a Jeep that collided with a motorcycle driven by 31-year-old Dana Marie Lucker Milan of Stillwater.

Lucker Milan was rushed to the hospital where she later died. Rodriguez was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Minnesota State Patrol responded shortly after 8:30 p.m. to the crash at the intersection of Highway 61 and Highway 96 in White Bear Lake. According to investigators, the Jeep driven by Rodriguez was making a left turn when it crossed in front of a motorcycle heading north on Highway 61.

Witnesses told authorities the motorcycle driven by Lucker Milan had a green light when it entered the intersection and crashed hard into the side of the Jeep. Lucker Milan was taken to the hospital but died from her injuries.

Speaking with troopers, Rodriguez claimed he had a yellow arrow and did not see the motorcycle before turning.

Troopers say Rodriguez showed signs of intoxication

As Rodriguez tried to explain his side of the story, troopers say they noticed clear signs of intoxication. Authorities say Rodriguez smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, bloodshot and watery eyes, and poor balance. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and then registered a .27 BAC on a preliminary breath test.

Rodriguez admitted to drinking a Bloody Mary and a shot of Fireball earlier that evening.

Troopers arrested Rodriguez at the scene and took a blood sample for further analysis. Those results are still pending.

Rodriguez has a prior DWI conviction from 2021. Rodriguez faces up to ten years in prison if convicted on the criminal vehicular homicide case.

He made his first appearance in court last Friday where bail was set at $100,000. As of Sunday, he remains in Ramsey County Jail.

He is due to return to court on Thursday.

 The forecast shows temperatures will climb into the upper 70s by the end of the week, but the humidity won't come with the minor warm-up.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Metro Transit is seeing more people riding buses and trains as gas prices climb, with four straight months of growth this spring.

Ridership trends show steady growth since February

Metro Transit reported that ridership was down 5% in January compared to the previous January, but then rebounded with a 3% increase in February. March saw a 2% rise, and both April and May posted 3% gains.

Drew Kerr, spokesperson for Metro Transit, said, "When we see cost of vehicle ownership and purchasing fuel go up, we also know that that leaves people to think whether they could use transit, and we hope that the answer to that question in a lot more cases now is yes."

Nearly 4.5 million people took Metro Transit buses, trains, or light rail in May. That figure is up 2.5% from May 2025.

From January to May, Metro Transit provided 21 million rides, about 1 percent more than the same period last year.

Metro Transit says bus ridership is up 6% so far this year. Kerr explained, "On the bus side, it's up about 6%. Where we have not seen ridership grow is on the light rail side, but there's reasons for that. We've had some construction already this year on light rail, and, of course, when trains can't run because there's construction, people can't ride the train."

AAA reports that the average price of regular gas in Minnesota is $3.88 per gallon, and diesel is $4.98 per gallon, which is slightly lower than last month's prices.

Metro Transit is continuing to look at how fuel costs and service improvements may help drive more ridership this summer.

Metro Transit is monitoring these trends closely to understand how changes in fuel prices and service updates affect how people get around.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (FOX 9) - The Minnesota State Patrol says a crash in Bloomington Saturday morning involving three vehicles was fatal.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, at 4:18 a.m. a 25-year-old man driving a Honda CR-V was traveling westbound on Interstate 494 (I-494) near Highway 100 in the far right lane. 

At the same time, a 64-year-old man driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound on I-494 in the center right lane, and at some point, the two vehicles collided into each other, law enforcement says. 

The Jeep came to rest in the left lane facing the median. A 49-year-old man driving a semi-truck then crashed into the Jeep. 

State Patrol says the crash was fatal. 

Authorities have not said who has died or who was injured. None of the drivers or passengers have been named. 

It is not clear what led to the two SUVs crashing into each other. 

More information is expected to be released by State Patrol. 

INDUSTRIAL TOWNSHIP, Minn. (FOX 9) - Authorities are investigating after a man died in a motorcycle crash in Industrial Township on Friday evening.

Emergency response to motorcycle crash in Industrial Township

Emergency responders were called around 7 p.m. to the area near Industrial Road and Hemman Lane for a report of a motorcycle crash with an injured rider.

The initial investigation shows the motorcycle was heading east and failed to make a left-hand curve, left the roadway, and overturned in the ditch.

The 56-year-old man from Saginaw, Minnesota was pronounced dead at the scene after life-saving measures were attempted. 

Multiple agencies, including the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Industrial Township Fire Department, Grand Lake Fire Department, Cloquet Fire/Ambulance Service, Minnesota State Patrol, and the Rescue Squad, assisted at the scene.

Authorities have not released the man's name or additional details about what may have caused the crash. It is also not yet clear if any other vehicles were involved or if weather played a role.

ANOKA CO., Minn. (FOX 9) - The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says two wild horses are safe after they escaped their enclosure.

The horses got loose somewhere in the northern part of Anoka County, and authorities asked for help from experienced horse handlers to recover them.

The sheriff's office says the two recently-acquired horses are untrained and escaped their new enclosure before they could begin gentling. 

The horses were found later in the afternoon.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A stretch of pleasant weather is on tap, with blue skies and sunshine sticking around this weekend.

Plenty of sunshine and blue sky today as temperatures warm to the comfortable mid 70s. Dew points remain in the lower 50s, so we keep a very comfortable "indoor/outdoor" weather feeling going through the day. 

Winds pick up a bit this afternoon out of the northwest but won't be quite as gusty as Friday. 

Expect more clouds and cooler temperatures across far northern Minnesota (and even a few light sprinkles near the Canadian border) though the afternoon and evening. 

We'll all see patchy clouds roll through tonight as dew points continue to fall, leading to a beautiful Sunday across the state.

Extended forecast

Temperatures cool a couple of few degrees tomorrow with a gusty breeze, but Sunday stays well within the realm of "pleasant and mild" for the entire state as blue sky and sunshine dominate the region. 

The comfortable, dry, and mild air mass sticks around for much of next week with only minor chances for thunder or rain trying to appear by mid-week. 

One thing to note: As dew points remain low, and we continue to dry out, elevated fire danger conditions will probably return across the area next week.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A shooting in north Minneapolis left a woman dead and two other people injured on Golden Valley Road. 

Triple shooting in Minneapolis

Minneapolis police said they responded to a call in the 2700 block of Golden Valley Road at 2:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting. 

A man in his 40s, who police say had non-life threatening gunshot wounds, approached paramedics for help and was taken to North Memorial Medical Center. 

Officers then determined the shooting may have been related to a ShotSpotter activation in the 1400 block of Golden Valley Road. Officers responded to that area and found a second victim, a woman in her 40s, who also had non-life threatening gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital. 

Officers then found the scene of the shooting and discovered a third victim, a woman in her 30s, who was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting. 

Authorities have not released any information on any possible suspects.
