this is most likely my greatest (certainly biggest) creation, the Death Egg Robot. I made it as accurate as possible to it's appearance in Sonic 2 and issue 229 of the comic series. The funny part is the primary base was this big candy ball I found at party city for a dollar, as soon as I saw the big round ball I had to have one for this. The cockpit inside is the tube from one of the G1 bionicle toys (Onua to be exact) with a burger king pokeball (the same that had to be recalled after a toddler killed herself with one) making the dome of the head. The rocket pack is made of foam board, as are the forearms. I also used surprising bits of scrap like corks, toothpicks, and gumball machine bubbles for little details like the ears and shoulder pads. The limbs are from newer bionicle and hero factory sets, beefed up with some Super Sculpey. The legs are one of the only parts I didn't fabricate or salvage, they're from a M.A.R.S. walking robot I got at walgreens. I used those robot legs because I needed a strong and stable support structure down there. Since I used a bionicle tube for the cockpit the head comes off with a little twist, so a classic Robotnik figure can ride inside just like the game.
That is SOOOOO cool! I love it. You've got my vote, friend. Could you please tell me exactly what you used for the spikes? I've got a few projects that could use something just like that.
